  1. I sell gear for friends. I have lots of stuff (2 vectorIII, one vectorII, racer and javelin) and it is affordable. Most rigs can be resized easy to fit you perfect. I think a new rig is a rip off - unless of course a new rig is what it takes to make you happy...for me it would be more jumps, tunnel time and coaching. rob
  2. you need to find a rigger who can do a good job. some just cannot do it - for whatever reason. I don't think the manual is enough, I think they need to be properly trained. These riggers will not charge extra.... rm
  3. yes, there has always been a lack of good pictures on the JumpShack site. I own a '98 NOS now and decided I will get a 2k3 soon - the packers at Deland finally convinced me. I am thinking about a regular 2k3 (350/350) or maybe a power racer (325/325) if it will not be a struggle to pack. rm
  4. I assume these guys are changing the lower control lines regularly - is that right? rm
  5. In talking to MEL at Icarus about a lineset for my VX - he said he can build a dome slider to make it open nice. If I had to jump a Sabre again that is what I'd do. rm
  6. all I can say is if overdone, any rig can look ugly in tie dye...
  7. 97 VX main 150-M reserve I upsized on the reserve from a 135-M when I saw a 120-M land overloaded - yikes. I would have a PD143R if they were as cheap to get used. rm
  8. the manufacturer of the reserve needs to approve the use of soft links. I got approval for PD reserve Slinks from Precision for my Raven -M.
  9. there is an article in Skydiving this month about the IC exit from a twin otter. rm
  10. that is not the way the JumpShack ones work. they don't go through the riser. only thing is I'd prefer some velcro at the bottom instead of the elastic keeper - but that is just me. and yes, service at JS is fast and very good. rm
  11. man, that sounds like a pain in the ass - but at least you look cool and you don't squeak. I would pass on SS hardware and the ringed harness...I guess I still don't get it. rm
  12. people keep on buying stainless even though this issue has been around forever.....why is that? rm
  13. I have had 2 (1992 and 1998) and would buy another - I would need to see that the M2K is as comfortable. Make sure you have a Rigger first who has no problems packing the reserve. From what I have seen, service from JumpShack is excellent - especially so just recently... rm
  14. If you have unlimited cash buy new. If you are on a budget I'd say buy used - and you should be able to save more than 550 over new unless the stuff has very very low jumps. If I were doing it again, I'd buy a container that fits perfect and buy everything else separately if needed - that way you get exactly what you want. Like the one person said better to fly great than look great. rm
  15. I have always wanted a pull out - clean and simple. However, never had my rig converted for two reasons....throw outs work fine and pullouts are less popular and packers (for me, only at a 4 way camp) can pack you a mal - it has happened. rm
  16. JumpShack is recommending a wing loading of less than 1:1 for the Firebolt for jumps with lower jump numbers.... rm
  17. exactly what I was thinking. I would not waste my cash on hip/chest rings, stainless steel, tie dye etc. My rig is very comfortable as is..... rm
  18. Precsion should have a look at it..... rm
  19. test jump yours or one the same size - I'll bet you will be OK with it then... rm
  20. who really cares what is cool looking - just order something and jump your ass off - if you want to resell someday - avoid pink...rm
  21. the Racer M2K is a 2 pin...if I had any cash would most likely be my next rig...rm
  22. I ordered on line about 2 weeks ago. Nothing yet. I should have known not to buy until it was actually shipping.... rm

    Creepers

I made some up a couple of years ago using some scrap pieces of 1" aluminum honeycomb panels from where I work. I was going to use the carbon fiber stuff but but that did not go over too well. We build race cars and carbon fibre part tooling from the stuff. Probably the lightest and strongest creepers in existance. Of course it doesn't matter what the platform is made from just use the quality foam and castors. The castors I used were 20 CDN or about 14 US each at the time. The tires were hard polyurethane. rm
  24. I decided to replace my PC a month ago and just now the thing started to give me problems on hop n pops. Temperature was about -7C the other day. I could probably improve by adjusting the kill line but it is old and I am retiring it. rm
  25. the FX was 20 square ft larger than your current Velocity - that is a huge difference - of course they will be "nothing" like each other... rm
