  2. I'm not a fan of the "blurred" frame--I'm of the opinion that you should put everything you want in the picture IN the picture, and if you don't want it, you should crop it out. There shouldn't be anything that you feel you can "blur" out of your picture without losing the composition/presentation. Then again, I'm not really for the printed frame at all. Like someone already said, just leave the print at the print and learn to mat. Stick a copyright sticker on the back and sign the matboard. Way more professional. -Miranda you shall above all things be glad and young / For if you're young, whatever life you wear it will become you;and if you are glad / whatever's living will yourself become.
  3. No, but if you're left handed, you're always dragging your hand through the chalk/marker/wet ink, etc. that you just wrote. A friend of mine once bought me a "left-handed" spiral bound notebook once (the cover was on the "back" and the cardboard "back" where the cover would be, with holes on the outside edge), but it was pretty pointless, since I write on both sides of the page anyway. -Miranda you shall above all things be glad and young / For if you're young, whatever life you wear it will become you;and if you are glad / whatever's living will yourself become.

  5. I did it a few years ago with some friends. It really isn't so bad. Our friends who came to watch us missed our turn, so we went back and did it a second time! This year's was cancelled in Madison because of high winds and low temperatures (supposedly in the negative double digits). -Miranda you shall above all things be glad and young / For if you're young, whatever life you wear it will become you;and if you are glad / whatever's living will yourself become.
  6. Having been around you, and around people who have OCD, I am pretty sure you don't. Your friends are probably just slobs. This person, on the other hand: I would advise to get some help. -Miranda you shall above all things be glad and young / For if you're young, whatever life you wear it will become you;and if you are glad / whatever's living will yourself become.
  7. It's on Wikipedia too: "After polling his readers about the creation of a new sexual neologism, in 2006 Savage announced, 'Confidential to everybody: "Pearl necklace" is out. "Cheney" is in. Pass it on.'" -Miranda you shall above all things be glad and young / For if you're young, whatever life you wear it will become you;and if you are glad / whatever's living will yourself become.
  8. That is the text. Just a line at the end of this week's article. Give it some time to marinate. -Miranda you shall above all things be glad and young / For if you're young, whatever life you wear it will become you;and if you are glad / whatever's living will yourself become.

    Tattoo Question

Some places do the "hammering" style of tattooing with a needle instead of the traditional bone or wood. Oh, and random (though possibly not true) trivia: I've heard that the original word "tattoo" comes from the sound of the hammer on the nail. -Miranda you shall above all things be glad and young / For if you're young, whatever life you wear it will become you;and if you are glad / whatever's living will yourself become.

  13. I had a very similar conversation once, with someone who was trying to convince me I was being scammed by buying a weight belt. I tried for a bit to convince them otherwise, but eventually just gave up. -Miranda you shall above all things be glad and young / For if you're young, whatever life you wear it will become you;and if you are glad / whatever's living will yourself become.

    Enjoy writing?

No way! I had first dibs on being her editor! -Miranda you shall above all things be glad and young / For if you're young, whatever life you wear it will become you;and if you are glad / whatever's living will yourself become.

    Enjoy writing?

Bummer. My composition class last semester was awesome. Sorry to hear yours isn't. May I reccommend the free feature on the website http://easybib.com/ to format your MLA bibliographies. My professor really liked the results on my papers. -Miranda you shall above all things be glad and young / For if you're young, whatever life you wear it will become you;and if you are glad / whatever's living will yourself become.
  16. Is there an echo in here? I swear, you never listen to me anymore. (Hey Doug, can you bring all my stuff over when you come tonight? Including my phone? And the chocolate on the table? Thanks.
  17. Yup, heard of them, but never jumped there. PM Sunshine for details--she spends a bit of time there, and I think it was where she started jumping. Not sure on the going rate for a static line jump, but I would expect it to be a bit cheaper than a tandem jump (which is usually between $150 and $180). Also not sure about the $25 jumps--I'm guessing those are after you've completed all your student jumps (which could be around 20 or so). I could be wrong, though. It was definitely not "radio-controlled." You may wear a radio with your jumpmaster telling you to make turns and brake ("flare") your canopy when necessary. But YOU are in control! I would recommend posting any questions in the "Events & Places to Jump" forum if you are wanting to find out about the dropzone, or "Safety & Training" if you want to find out about different training programs. Remember to do a search first--practically every topic has come up before (especially the training program question). Honestly, your best bet would be to call up the dz and ask them any questions you have.
  18. Yup, I remember the days of trying to get Viking laid. And remember his "I am getting drunk for the first time" thread? -Miranda you shall above all things be glad and young / For if you're young, whatever life you wear it will become you;and if you are glad / whatever's living will yourself become.

    Marathon running

I don't think this is true at all. There's no reason that he couldn't do long runs on Sundays--there are several training programs that reccommend it, actually. And although there are some time consuming runs, the three-plus hour runs are only for a few weekends. Of course it is a big commitment, but then, that's a lot of the appeal. The training is the REAL work, and if you do it right, the race itself is your reward.

    Marathon running

Most 16-week training programs I've read (and that would be exactly the right length of time for you!) say you should be able to comfortable run for 1-2 hours once or twice a week before beginning the 16-week program. If you're physically able to run an hour or so now, once a week, you should be able to follow a training program and do alright. I'm not saying you'll be qualifying for Boston, but if you stick to it for the next four months, chances are good you'll finish strong. Good luck--there's nothing like it!
  21. Thought so. -Miranda you shall above all things be glad and young / For if you're young, whatever life you wear it will become you;and if you are glad / whatever's living will yourself become.

  23. Were they really doing this because women weighed less, or to attract more chicks to the dz? -Miranda you shall above all things be glad and young / For if you're young, whatever life you wear it will become you;and if you are glad / whatever's living will yourself become.
  24. Yup, Scott is the man! Thanks again. See you there? -Miranda you shall above all things be glad and young / For if you're young, whatever life you wear it will become you;and if you are glad / whatever's living will yourself become.
  25. Oh, that would explain why I couldn't find the name of the dz anywhere. What is a "normal rate" for a tandem these days, anyway? -Miranda you shall above all things be glad and young / For if you're young, whatever life you wear it will become you;and if you are glad / whatever's living will yourself become.
