  1. Hey congrats!! My wife & I did our check out dive this afternoon & got our card stamped with the big "A" too. blue skies
  2. I have 21 jumps so far and Teri has 16. I just bought a used rig but I have not gotten it yet so we are both renting from Square3. We just found a babysitter for Sunday so we can take our 4 jump skydive "U" course. Scott & Teri blue skies
  3. Hi Mesh, My wife & I jump out at crosskeys. I graduated AFP in June and my wife graduated over the weekend. Crosskeys is a great dz we have a lot of fun there. We hope to be there Sunday, maybe we will meet. Welcome Scott & Teri
  4. Teri graduated on Sunday and bought the beer for dz. We had a great day at crosskeys watching the 120 way go for the record. I Got to jump from the skyvan and see her graduation exit and we we yelling to each other under canopy. She is so excited and we can't wait to go to skydive U. blue skies
  5. Just a quick update, Jaime is feeling exactly like we all did after our first jump, she told me she thinks about skydiving all the time. I think she wore out the tape of her jump! She has everyone she knows watch it when they come over and is just as excited watching as the first time she watched. She can't wait to jump again, They are doing a feature about her jump in the newsletter from UCP (United Cerebral Palsy) so she is also very excited about that. I will keep you posted on our new memember of the skydiving family.
  6. Hey Bill, How many times are you going to try for it? We won't be at Crosskeys until Sunday and would love to see it you guys get the record. blue skies
  7. Thanks for all your support. I have been keeping Jaime up on all the posts. She say's she can't wait for her next jump. Now I just have to convince dad to put up the bucks for it! blue skies
  8. Your right about the word confinement she would be lost without her chair to get around. I will choose my words more carefully in the future.
  9. Congrats, it is a great feeling ! Now time to work on the "A" blue skies
  10. I think she will do another sometime. we need to let the first one sink in. She couldn't wait to go to her program she attends during the day to show all her friends the video & pictures!
  11. Paul, thank you!!! what a great video you shot. The still pictures are awesome. I have posted a few on my web site & I'll bring them on Friday when we are there for Teri's graduation dive. It was an incredible day & I am going to try to get the word out to people in the handicapped community that the thrill of a lifetime is at Cross Keys if the want to take the leap. 12. Just had to post about my sisters jump at Cross Keys. My sister has cerebral palsy and is confined to a wheelchair and unable to speak but communicates with yes or no answers. But no words were needed to explain the thrilling jump she made, all you had to do is look at her face! The staff at Cross Keys was unbeleivable ! Mark Kruse who has over 10,000 skydives made her feel he was just as excited as she was about the tandem. After her jump we watched the video at the dz and it seemed everyone there gathered around to watch. There was a round of applause as the ripcord was pulled and at the landing, it made her day even more special. It really makes me proud to be a part of a sport where everyone will do almost anything to share the experience we all felt on our first jump! 12 hours later and she still can't wipe the smile from her face! if anyone would like more info on the jump for a physically challenged person drop me an email and I'll give you the details.
  13. Hi & Welcome, I think you'll find a lot of great information here along with some great people who know their stuff about skydiving. Blue skies
  14. Hi & welcome, having just finished my level 7 jump after 10 months, it did at the time seem to take forever but every jump was a learning experience. There is so much to learn in this sport that you only seem to be able to learn from doing it. Listen to your instructors and try to absorb everything you can. I can't wait to be a better skydiver but the only way is through our own experience and the the experience of our instructors and other seasoned skydivers. Enjoy every minute of skydiving no matter what you status is. Blue skies
  15. Art, Call and talk to Mark Kruse or Glen Bangs at Cross Keys they will tell what you need to know. 888-855-JUMP.
  16. Great to hear you are getting up for a jump. sometimes physical obstacles can be overcome and I have found everyone in the skydiving community will do just about anything possible to make a dream like jumping out of a perfectly good airplane come true. I also live just outside of Philly and am taking my younger sister for her fist skydive at crosskeys. She has Cerebral palsy and can not walk or speak but communicates with a computer she is 24. When my wife and I did our first tandem she was at the DZ with us and was telling us how crazy we were (typical wuffo) After seeing how much we love it she wants to go. We went to the DZ last week & paid for her jump & video but just as we got there the the sky opened up and we have to reschedule. We hope to do in the next week or so. Good luck with with your jump and keep us posted.
  17. Just had to post! Bought the beer for the DZ for graduating with my level 7 jump last night!!! Now onto Skydive U. Thanks to everyone on DZ.com for your advise and insight to newbies like me you really helped me make it this far. Scottyb
  18. Hi & welcome, Good lick on your first jump. Just remember once you jump there is no going back! blue skies
  19. Just a dumb question from a newbie but does it feel much different than tracking when you are going that fast? Scott
  20. My wife & I started with a tandem last September and it's been a long winter but we are closing in on our graduation jumps. Our son is not too thrilled with the"Ps" jumping out of planes but he will have to get over it. Blue skies
  21. Don't be so hard on yourself. Take your time & listen to your instructors and "relax". It's easy to say but when you figure it out it makes the learning process much easier.
  22. If you are intrested go take a tandem jump & see what the blue skies are all about you won't be sorry. Scottyb
  23. Thanks, I plan on taking my time and learning to be as safe as possible. I don't think I'll be doing a head down for quite a while, I'll stay belly to earth untill i get that perfect. Thanks for all the info Blue skies
  24. Thanks for all the advice, I do plan on doing coached jumps and meeting all the requirements that are needed to get my "A" lets face it there is soooo much to learn. I guess the simple question is can a person that has completed the student program but does not have their "A" license do a non coached solo jump? I'm sure it may also depend on the dz and I will get all of the information from them but I was just curious. Thanks
  25. Fun jumps would be great but how many coached jumps are needed for my "A" Scott
