  1. It all sounds good, I think our first step is to talk it over with the DZO and see if he thinks it's possible before we start asking for sponsors and $$$$MONEY$$$!!! It would be an awesome thing to do and if we can get Bill Vance and others and put our heads together, with a lot of work and lots of luck it could happen. I wont be over to the drop zone until next weekend but I will talk to the owner and the jumpmasters and see what they have to say. If anyone else has any ideas put them out there and we will see where it goes. Thanks scott
  2. Sorry Mike, She has Cerebral Palsy. She does use a wheelchair for mobility and a computer for communication. Most of the other campers also use wheelchairs. When my sister made her jump at Crosskeys the tandem master used a strap to keep her legs together in freefall and also to pull her legs up for the landing that went off without a hitch for a perfect standup landing. I know the logistics for a record would be massive but it could also bring a great awareness that people with disabilities can do just about anything! It's just a thought, there would have to be fund raisers to help pay for the attempt and tons of volunteers but I think it could be a possibility. I have not even talked to anyone at the DZ about this it's just an idea I'm kicking around, but if I know our fellow skydivers they would rally to a challenge like this. And it would be a hell of a lot of fun for all involved! I don't think it would have to be limited to persons using a wheelchair, I have done some searching and could not find any record pertaining to this subject so it seems the sky's the limit. My thought is you have to start somewhere and this is a perfect forum to put the idea out there. Scottyb
  3. Hi everyone, My sister is disabled (cp) and has made a tandem jump. She went to a weekend camp with other people with disabilities and they just had to show the video of her jump. As you can imagine everyone was excited and many said they would love to try it. So I was taking with my sister and jokingly said if we could get enough people with disabilities to jump at one time we can set a world record...hmmm is there a world record for that? Any thoughts??? Scottyb
  4. Mark Kruse at Crosskeys used a similar strap when he took my sister who has Cerebral Palsy. He used the strap to keep her leg together in freefall and to pull her legs up for the landing. A load of thanks to those tandem masters that make it possible for anyone to jump. http://www.ppd.biz/jaime.htm
  5. We Were 2 days out of being current on Sunday 2/29 so we took the refresher course and a supervised jump and are back in the good graces of the sky Gods! The "A" only gives you 60 days to jump and the weather here has been rough but it was great to be back in the air! Get out and jump! Scottyb
  6. Thanks for everyones input. What a great thread I wish more people would enjoy skydiving as much as we do but that would make it more crowded at the dz and I like the turn around time we have on our planes. It's always nice to meet a new person who has been bitten by the bug. Scottyb
  7. I was sitting in the hanger at the dz the other day while the tandem instructors were filling out the first time jumpers certificates and explaining what was need to continue the progression working to an A license. It got me wondering if there was any numbers of how many first time tandem jumpers continue on for their license. I know I was hooked on my first jump. Just something I thought would be interesting to know. Scottyb
  8. Your right! what a great day to jump. we only got 3 in but had a couple of fun four ways. We can't wait to get back out, if we have a spring days like yesterday we'll be in good shape!

  12. Sunday should be great weather at Cross Keys! Who is going to be there, We will !!!! Let us know and maybe we can Jump together!
  13. My wife and did our first tandem together and both graduated AFP & got our license about the same time. The only other family member to jump is my physically challenged sister who did a tandem. No one else seems interested. Our son is thinking about a tandem next month when he turns 18.
  14. We jump all winter long at Xkeys! Freeze fest is next weekend and I'm sure it will be cold. Our last jumps were 12/26 but is was warm 45 deg. As long as you dress for it and the DZ is flying JUMP! Scottyb
  15. Who would of thought the temp in New Jersey would top 50 in late December!!! What a day to skydive! The Caravan & Porter flew many loads at Crosskeys today I hope everyone else had the chance to jump today.
  16. It's funny you ask this question, we were at the dz yesterday and my wife & I were walking in off the landing area with our canopies over our shoulders and we both had big smiles on our face after a great jump and a tandem student said it's better than sex, and my wife said your having sex with the wrong person! Skydiving is awesome but never better than sex with your soul mate!!!! blue skies Scottyb & Teri
  17. Hi freeflyshorty!, It was great jumping with you on your birthday, Thanks for the extra 1,000 feet on the first jump of the day!!! Thanks for the instructions on my first chopper jump, that was awesome. Sorry we had to leave before you got to 21 but I'm sure it was great. We hope to be there for the Halloween bash maybe we will see you there! Congrats on your 21st birthday & jumps! Scottyb & Teri
  18. My wife & I have 2 kids 17 & 8 and our youngest is at the drop zone with us often and can't wait for those 10 years to pass so she can jump. our 17 year old is going to do a tandem when he's 18 so he can see what mom & dad are so hooked on. I think skydiving teaches our kids that when you can do something that involves risk with the proper training and within your abilities you can achieve anything! We usually go on separate loads and are careful in all aspects of skydiving. I think we are pretty responsible parents and skydiving is passion and a challenge that can be applied to life in general. I have a bumper sticker on my truck that sums up skydiving well "take risks not to escape life, but to prevent life from escaping". Blue skies scottyb
  19. She can't wait to jump again! We talk about it all the time and it never fails to put a smile on her face! She wants to take some other family members & friends to jump. At our DZ if you sign up 10 people your skydive is free, That's what she is going for. I'll let you know when she jumps again. blue skies
  20. Hi Evryone, Just thought I would post the newsletter from Jaime's program. http://www.plumbingpartsdepot.com/ucpnews.htm
  21. Sounds like a great response, Keep us posted on the results. Maybe you can get a commission from the dz for all those tandems!!! blue skies
  22. Hi everyone, I just had to post about our best day skydiving yet. We finished our oral exam for our A license yesterday ( given to us by the President of the USPA, Glen Bangs) but we didn't have time for our check out dive. So my wife meets me at work this morning and says lets go get our A! I cut out of work to go skydiving ( wish I could do that more often
