  1. I have 22 states so far. I plan on making a month long trip this summer in my van to get the rest of the continental states and then will have to plan for Hawaii and Alaska. Where in Alaska would I have to go to jump? Also how many people have completed all 50? :)
  2. I'm currently working on all 50 states and 100 Dropzones. I have 72 Dropzones right now. After my trip to Arizona this week and a trip up thru California I will have Apx 80 DZ's. I couldn't jump at all of them though, some because of weather and some was tandem only Dropzones I found out only after arriving but I have jumped at most complete with DZ Sign photo. Met a lot of amazing people and heard some incredible stories along my journey.
  3. I'm 6'1 and 270 pounds. My exit weight is 303 pounds and I started AFF last November. It took me about 6 calls to find a dropzone that had a Navigator 300 which put me close to a 1to1 ratio and I was fine, moved to a Nav280 after 9 jumps, then after about 30 jumps went to a Sabre2 260. I have been to 23 different dropzones in the past 3 months which I am almost always the biggest guy there but it can be done and I am still a very new skydiver. To answer your question "NO" you are not to big to skydive. You just need to find a place that will have a rig big enough for you to jump safely and listen to your instructors so you can be safe. If there is a will there is a way brother. Blue Skies!
  4. I looked in the Boogie section and didn't see any upcoming boogies in Florida, does anyone know of any Boogies going on at the end of April in Florida? I really want to jump out of a skyvan or Casa and a balloon and would prefer to do it in Florida while I'm there the end of April. If not any boogies does anyone know a DZ there that does frequent skyvan loads? Thanks for the input I appreciate it.
  5. So if your in the sport 45 years x $55 year..... Then you break even. VS 18yrs the $1,000 membership took to recoup..... The only thing that comes to mind is for some reason they don't want lifetime members. Anybody else have thoughts on this?
  6. My container Mirage G4 (M8 Model) was designed to hold a 280 main with the option to go up or down 1 size they told me. So if I start with the 260 and that's already 1 size down is that bottom skin fabric gonna make things to loose?
  7. Well because of my size and exit weight it is very difficult to find a used canopy, I already have a brand new container (Mirage G4 with a PD281 Reserve + Cypres 2) Reserve & Cypres was in stock and not a problem, I went to Mirage in Deland to order my Container and had them measure me for it and that only took month. However when it comes to mains if I have to wait 3 months to actually get it then I wanna have the process started now is all :) The reason for the original post or question is because if a Pulse 260 (loaded at 1.15) would be good for me to use after I get my A license (hopefully by the end of the month as much as I'm jumping) I can get that canopy now, not only will I save money but it's color Green/Black matches my Rig, but the reviews say that might not be best for landing as a newbie like me. So I thought I would get some advice, regardless which route I choose I will have a min of 25+ training jumps before I ever get to jump my own gear
  8. Hello I need some advice on my first Main purchase. I was going to get a PD Sabre2 260 main and wait the 3 months for PD to build it. However I just found a used PD Pulse 260 in excellent shape. When watching the PD videos it says the Pulse is easier to land than the Sabre2. For a new guy would a pulse be to much to handle? Can anybody personally speak for there landings? Any advice at all on this is appreciated Thank you P.S. I weigh 260lbs and don't really want to get a PD navigator
  9. You crack me up. No one is going to hold anything for anyone for a day. It doesn't happen. However, I am sure the reserve will be in stock for a bit, as 281 isn't exactly a high-demand Rigga, pah-leeze. I'm not worried about them selling it, if it was gonna be sold that easy it wouldn't have been sitting there for 12 years without a buyer. I also talked to PD and they told me I had nothing to worry about. I guess I was just asking some advice from people that have been in the sport for awhile and have dealt with this kinda thing :)
  10. I called PD and they said assuming it's in the original bag and hasn't been packed or stored in extreme temperatures it will have almost no loss of (some technical term) and will be fine. They said I could even send them the canopy and $40 to do some test in it to see how much wind flows thru the skin to test it, but didn't think I need it.
  11. P.S. www.square1.com the site that has the reserve in question for sale told me they had a customer put half down and order it a long time ago and never picked it up, that's why it's so old yet brand new and never been packed or opened..
  12. So I'm about to buy my 1st Reserve for my first Rig and I need some help on this one. I have already decided to purchase a PD 281 reserve and I can get a brand new one for $1,250 thru my rigger or I can buy a Brand new in the bag PD 281 Reserve that has never been taken out of the bag according to www.square1.com with a manufactures date of 2001 for $800 shipped. So with that being said I'm not worried about reselling it anytime soon and will very likely keep this reserve for a long time. "My questions is that is it worth it to save $450 on one that was produced that long ago? And is it safe?" Thanks for your input! :)
  13. I just received my first container a Mirage G4 (m8 model) I'm going to put a PD 281, Cypres Expert 1Pin & a Navigator 280 in it. How much is the normal price to pay a rigger to install all 3 of these items?
  14. Katzas Thank you very much for your advice I appreciate it and with that being said I agree with you. I think I will go with the Navigator 280 and keep a 1:1 ratio as close as I can
  15. Yes I'm still looking for a 281 reserve, do you have one for sale?
