  1. To the best of my knowledge nobody has wingsuited in all 50 states but I'm thinking about going back thru and flying my wingsuit in all the states that I didn't wingsuit in. I just flew in Hawaii 2 weeks ago and it was amazing! :) It's at the end of my 50 state video:

This was a fun interview I did talking about going back they and wingsuiting in the states I missed

  2. Ok new count! I went thru my logbook again and after today I will have actually jumped in "28" different states. There was 6 additional states I have been to Dropzones but was weathered or no loads each time. These will all be revisited and jumped! So the only east coast states I'm missing after today will be Maine, Mass, New Hampshire & Ohio (all of which I have been to and had bad weather in the past)

After that I need Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Kansas, Nebraska, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Alaska & Hawaii!

The goal is to have at least 1 jump in each of these states by the end of this summer. The following maps have been narrowed down to 1 pin per state with red being jumped and purple the suggested location of a place where I need to jump.

  3. Thank you so much for the info!! :) I have done 8 more states in the last 4 days and completing Virginia & West Virginia tomorrow. The bad spot for New Hampshire is going to work out great ;) I have taken pictures next to all the DZ signs and have most DZO's signing my log book for the proof. I'm really excited to soon be joining this small group of Skydivers :)

  4. I hit my 104th Dropzone today :) I'm still working on the 50 states with pictures at each dropzone. How many total numbers have been given out so far? Still just 17? I will be finished before the summer is over I'm finishing up the north east now. (Still figuring out New Hampshire, Maryland and Rhode Island. Any ideas?)

  5. I have 22 states so far. I plan on making a month long trip this summer in my van to get the rest of the continental states and then will have to plan for Hawaii and Alaska. Where in Alaska would I have to go to jump? Also how many people have completed all 50? :)

  6. I'm currently working on all 50 states and 100 Dropzones. I have 72 Dropzones right now. After my trip to Arizona this week and a trip up thru California I will have Apx 80 DZ's. I couldn't jump at all of them though, some because of weather and some was tandem only Dropzones I found out only after arriving but I have jumped at most complete with DZ Sign photo. Met a lot of amazing people and heard some incredible stories along my journey.

  7. I'm 6'1 and 270 pounds. My exit weight is 303 pounds and I started AFF last November. It took me about 6 calls to find a dropzone that had a Navigator 300 which put me close to a 1to1 ratio and I was fine, moved
to a Nav280 after 9 jumps, then after about 30 jumps went to a Sabre2 260. I have been to 23 different dropzones in the past 3 months which I am almost always the biggest guy there but it can be done and I am still a very new skydiver. To answer your question "NO" you are not to big to skydive. You just need to find a place that will have a rig big enough for you to jump safely and listen to your instructors so you can be safe. If there is a will there is a way brother. Blue Skies!

  8. I looked in the Boogie section and didn't see any upcoming boogies in Florida, does anyone know of any Boogies going on at the end of April in Florida? I really want to jump out of a skyvan or Casa and a balloon and would prefer to do it in Florida while I'm there the end of April. If not any boogies does anyone know a DZ there that does frequent skyvan loads? Thanks for the input I appreciate it.

A new canopy of this size in all ZP fabric will be quite the experience to pack. Especially if you are trying to get it into a tight D bag.

My container Mirage G4 (M8 Model) was designed to hold a 280 main with the option to go up or down 1 size they told me. So if I start with the 260 and that's already 1 size down is that bottom skin fabric gonna make things to loose?

    FWIW,

No one has addressed why you're looking to buy w/only 7 jumps under your belt. Have you run this by your instructors? You should. It's too easy to buy gear that's either inapropriate, or unecessary. Were I in the market, now. I'd choose a Pulse. Mainly, for the sweet openings, & ease of packing. Good Luck.

Well because of my size and exit weight it is very difficult to find a used canopy, I already have a brand new container (Mirage G4 with a PD281 Reserve + Cypres 2) Reserve & Cypres was in stock and not a problem, I went to Mirage in Deland to order my Container and had them measure me for it and that only took month. However when it comes to mains if I have to wait 3 months to actually get it then I wanna have the process started now is all :) The reason for the original post or question is because if a Pulse 260 (loaded at 1.15) would be good for me to use after I get my A license (hopefully by the end of the month as much as I'm jumping) I can get that canopy now, not only will I save money but it's color Green/Black matches my Rig, but the reviews say that might not be best for landing as a newbie like me. So I thought I would get some advice, regardless which route I choose I will have a min of 25+ training jumps before I ever get to jump my own gear

  11. Hello I need some advice on my first Main purchase. I was going to get a PD Sabre2 260 main and wait the 3 months for PD to build it. However I just found a used PD Pulse 260 in excellent shape. When watching the PD videos it says the Pulse is easier to land than the Sabre2. For a new guy would a pulse be to much to handle? Can anybody personally speak for there landings? Any advice at all on this is appreciated Thank you P.S. I weigh 260lbs and don't really want to get a PD navigator

***I'd call Sqaure one and ask them to hold it for you for a day, then I'd call PD and ask them.

You crack me up. No one is going to hold anything for anyone for a day. It doesn't happen. However, I am sure the reserve will be in stock for a bit, as 281 isn't exactly a high-demand
    Rigga, pah-leeze.

I'm not worried about them selling it, if it was gonna be sold that easy it wouldn't have been sitting there for 12 years without a buyer. I also talked to PD and they told me I had nothing to worry about. I guess I was just asking some advice from people that have been in the sport for awhile and have dealt with this kinda thing :)

I'd call Sqaure one and ask them to hold it for you for a day, then I'd call PD and ask them.

I called PD and they said assuming it's in the original bag and hasn't been packed or stored in extreme temperatures it will have almost no loss of (some technical term) and will be fine. They said I could even send them the canopy and $40 to do some test in it to see how much wind flows thru the skin to test it, but didn't think I need it.

  14. So I'm about to buy my 1st Reserve for my first Rig and I need some help on this one. I have already decided to purchase a PD 281 reserve and I can get a brand new one for $1,250 thru my rigger or I can buy a Brand new in the bag PD 281 Reserve that has never been taken out of the bag according to www.square1.com with a manufactures date of 2001 for $800 shipped. So with that being said I'm not worried about reselling it anytime soon and will very likely keep this reserve for a long time. "My questions is that is it worth it to save $450 on one that was produced that long ago? And is it safe?"

    Thanks for your input! :)

  15. I just received my first container a Mirage G4 (m8 model) I'm going to put a PD 281, Cypres Expert 1Pin & a Navigator 280 in it. How much is the normal price to pay a rigger to install all 3 of these items?

Best reply I saw here. There's advice--and then there's advice.
When you're sitting in the harness of an undersized canopy for your weight and experience level--approaching the ground on final and going like a bat outta hell both horizontally and vertically--all that advice about going smaller won't mean a thing because it's your ass that's gonna smack mama earth--not the skygod who sneered at your navigator 280. You can't enjoy skydiving if your either scared to death of landing or lying in a hospital bed. If in doubt, go bigger and more docile--then once you figure things out--change. Steer clear of the skygod's "advice"--they're pretty easy to identify by the company they keep. Find somebody you trust who thinks like you do--and enjoy. Always remember--it's your ass.

Thank you very much for your advice I appreciate it and with that being said I agree with you. I think I will go with the Navigator 280 and keep a 1:1 ratio as close as I can

***I ordered my Mirage G4 container (M8 model) about 5 weeks ago and it was shipped to me yesterday. Now I need advice on how to fill it

What's done is done but this is really the bassackward way to go about it. :S

Well it might be backwards and I appreciate everyone's advise however I did take a couple thing into consideration before purchasing a custom made container for myself.

    1. The container will fit a 260-300 sq ft canopy. If I'm almost at a 1:1 now jumping a 300 I "could" go down to a 260 with this container which I don't "think" I should do after only 25 jumps with an exit weight if 290 pounds.... But I don't know?

    2. "If" the worst case scenario is I'm loaded 1:1 but flying safe however I can't have as much fun under canopy I'm totally ok with that. I want to work on my fundamentals of freefall & landing for awhile before I start taking canopy courses to do crazy stuff.

    3. Because I'm a big guy and student rigs/rental rigs in my size aren't exactly comfortable... the $8,000 plus this will cost me is worth the comfort alone even if it only last me 6months to a Year.

But I can see your logic of thinking it's backwards.

    Grain of salt warning:

Also, once you get your A license, go to your local rigger and rent a Sabre2 or Spectre at some obscenely large size. Try and fly it for a day. See if you like it better. It'll have more control than a Nav. And who knows, maybe it'll change your mind about what kind of rig you want to buy. Or even better demo the Nav and sabre/spectre from PD. You'll have a side-by-side comparison.

I was thinking I would order the PD 281 reserve and the cypres now and have them installed (figured big reserve for a big guy incase the shit hits the fan) and then maybe Demo a couple different canopies that will fit in my container to see what I like best. The NAV 300 is great! "But you don't know, what you don't know" I think it feels great but who knows It might be like flying a bus and I wouldn't know because it's all I have flown. With that being said what suggestions would you have for a 290 exit weight with 25 jumps?? (won't buy the main until I'm licensed)

Also to answer the question of why I bought my own rig is simple, I travel all over the country for my job and the world for fun, If there is an awesome location I happen to be traveling thru and want to jump and they don't have gear to fit me?? Well then that would suck and since I'm way above average weight for a skydiver I figure buying my own would be best.

It's actually 1.05, but that said you should be fine at that wingloading.

Us bigger guys tend to be a little better at being at a slightly higher wingloading than the little skinny folks that break easy :) that is assuming you are an in shape 265 and not a tubby 265.......just my $.02

My only question is, is your rig TSO'd for your weight?

I don't know what TSO'd means but I went to Mirage in Deland FL, and had them personally measure & weigh me and build this rig custom for me. They are amazing people so I have to assume its (TSO) for me.... So since it was all custom I had them make the colors to match my jumpsuit/helmet I use in the tunnel. (Which has nothing to do with canopies or landing but damn if I'm spending $3,000 on a backpack I want it to look good haha)
