    Hours of fun!!

I didn't see a ukulele in that photo, and I looked and looked and looked.
  2. Exactly. So now who had the most to gain by this threat perception? Who do you think created the perception? Since you don't like Obama you discount the possibility that this threat was heavily overstated by the NRA and other gun lobbies. It has nothing to do with whether or not I like Obama. It has to do with his past record and statements. And those play a big role in anticipating what he might do in the future. One would be a fool to ignore the past records of politicians for whom they are considering in their voting choices. Since you love Obama and hate guns, you have presumed that conservatives were wrong, that they are acting like frenzied sheep, that they are stupid, that it's a conspiracy by the NRA and gun-makers, and that everyone deserves tax cuts so they can buy guns. And we're supposed to take your view seriously?
  3. There's nothing contrary to it - the two go hand-in-hand. Gun sales are were brisk BECAUSE he's a gun-grabbing liberal. But now that has been shown to be quite untrue the gun lobby needs a new bogeyman. The CT State Police seem to be the current choice. It's not like the entire upward curve over the last 6 years has suddenly disappeared completely, but you seem to be trying to fool people into believing that. From your own article in message #10, it says that sales were up 51% in the first nine months, and in the latest three months they rose just 2%. And somehow, you, a learned college professor, interpret this to mean that gun sales are down, and that they are no longer brisk. Tsk tsk. Me thinks that your hatred of guns has overpowered your sense of logic. If up 51% was brisk, then up another 2% to 53% is still brisker. And that's not a drop, that's a reduction in the rate of growth. And me, a lowly BA degree, can figure that out.
  4. Tails? You know hard it was to swing from trees when evolution took away our prehensile tails?
  5. Is it also none of the government's business? It depends. If you're a convicted felon, mentally incapable of knowing right from wrong, or possibly the member of some other group of people legally restricted from gun ownership then I'd say the answer is, yes. Then you must agree that if a citizen passes a background check, there is no reason for the government to keep track of what he's purchased. Right?
  6. Of course, violent crime rates also declined in places without such laws during the same time frame. So wouldn't that indicate then that crime rates move independently of concealed handgun licenses, and therefore that concealed handgun licenses are NOT a bad influence? And if concealed handgun licenses are not a bad influence, and they even allow some people to justifiably defend themselves from criminal attacks, then doesn't that make it overall a good thing? News: "Illinois' first concealed carry licenses in the mail -- 5,000 of them" Link: http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2014-02-28/news/chi-illinois-first-concealed-carry-licenses-in-the-mail-5000-of-them-20140228_1_law-enforcement-licenses-paper-application-process So what do you expect will happen to crime rates as a result of this new-found freedom being exercised by your fellow citizens of Illinois?

  8. Is a LTM considered property that be left to your kin in a will? Hardly. "Lifetime" means YOUR lifetime. When you die, the lifetime membership dies with you.
  9. Just to clarify~ What do you mean by an electronic version? Would that mean no paper magazine at all? What some organizations are doing is offering it as a membership option, to be selected by each individual member. If you want electronic, the print verion is stopped. If you want the print version, you still get it. No one gets denied their particular preference. It's not all of one thing at the expense of the other. Or at least it shouldn't be... I personally like a printed copy.
  10. He must have searched for the word "bailout" to find a place to attach his advertisement. We wouldn't check out your site, because we don't like advertising interjected into our conversations.
  11. Okay, I get it now, you're really just guessing and have no actual facts about this subject. Yes, if you paraphrase a couple words out of every sentence it would appear so. It's not just a couple of words, it's entire sentences. You assume that black will "absorb" more sunlight. You assume that this is bad in some way. You can't tell us why this is "bad". Decades of experience has shown that orange is actually the color most likely to fade and weaken the worst due to sunlight exposure.

Can you do "Tiptoe through the tulips"?
  14. Well, that's a rather slanted view of things. The threat was real. Just look at Obama's record and past statements, and of the people he has put into office to work for him. The conservatives were correct about that. They are not "sheep" to hedge against potential future legislation, nor do they look stupid for doing so, except in the eyes of people like you. But then, you probably expect the government to save you from every threat. Yes, the NRA and manufacturers are making more money. That's not a crime. Thank you, Obama. That's Economics 101. Create a threat to the supply of a product, and people will stock up, demand will increase, and prices will go up. Works for guns and gasoline. Tax cuts would be nice, but not to pay for guns, simply because the government already takes too much. Take some more guesses - you need 'em.

  17. "Record U.S. Gun Production" "U.S. gun makers led by Sturm Ruger & Co. and Smith & Wesson Holding Corp. (SWHC) churned out a record number of firearms in 2012, government data show, continuing a trend of robust production during Democratic presidencies. More than 8.57 million guns were produced in 2012, up 31 percent from 6.54 million in 2011..." http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-02-20/record-u-s-gun-production-as-obama-demonized-on-issue.html "America's Handgun Boom—in 4 Charts" "Gun trade groups tend to peg firearm sales at a steady $4 billion annually. But there's evidence that, as of late, we've been on a buying spree. The number of criminal background checks on prospective gun buyers has roughly doubled since 2003." http://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2012/12/americas-handgun-boom-in-4-charts/266305/
  18. Why do you think that? Black absorbs sunlight (think of a black car on a sunny day). Define "absorbs" Why would black do this more than other colors? What affect do you think that has on the fabric?
  19. Quote: "Some industry sources believe sales are not declining as much as they are returning to normal after a long boom. Smith & Wesson CEO James Debney says the firearms industry is “coming out of this surge period into what we would call a more normal environment, which is generally free of influence of some fear or uncertainty about increased legislation.” Oh my gosh, sales are returning to normal - it's the end of the gun industry! With Congress soon to be controlled entirely by Republicans, and Obama to become a lame duck, the threat to gun rights seems to be coming to an end for the next few years. Next up: "NRA membership declining!" Oh the horror! These things are cyclic, depending upon politics. Oh my gosh, the price of gold is plunging! The financial market is doomed! 20. We? Sounds line "you" don't know. A gooch is a sintered glass crucible, or a valve for steam locomotive. But I don't know what someone would be doing with one of those in freefall. Is that it? I'm afraid to click "that"... Well then, my ancestors are apologizing to Your descendants, your highness, it is an urban dictionary after all I found out which definition was intended, so I figured this link was going to be photo of that kind of "gooch", which I don't care to see. So it's just another new-fangled "cool" word that all the "hip" kids use, like "twerking" and "selfie". Bah humbug, I can live without 'em.
  21. Did he make all that money off of "Skydiving" magazine, which he published for decades? If so, just think of it - all of our subscription money for all those years, went towards getting this $400k back for the sport. What a deal!
  22. Forward to 25:00 to get to the actual parachute jump. What the heck kind of riser releases are those? Why did they spot her into the ocean?
  23. Indeed. I understand that 99.9% of all people who have died by jumping out of a plane were wearing a parachute rig. Conclusion: Parachute rigs cause violent death. And with all the insults now being hurled, I'm outta this thread.
