  1. actually i used it and could not see a difference in the time Battery life is concerning - the Altitudes were (for my limited Bellystuff) right on Spot, if you check the Video i did - i hold my N3 as often as possible into the pictutre as possible and it was always withing 50 Feet +/- i think the "Burble" when you track maybe influencing the accuracy a bit - but maybe someone with a broader knowledge of that can comment. The NICE thing is that if you are at a DZ with a TV thats plays directly from the GoPro - you have INSTANT real Time Subtitles - from the Camera - no need to match / sync it. With the Configuration Tool, you decide what you want to display - so you can do Feet / Meter or both , GForce , XYZ etc. And the Price is actually 74 USD for something that has been designed by skydivers from the US - i think the price is remarkable if you think how much R&D has to be done to support all the different GoPro Modells
  2. Hey, I just wanted to post something about an add-on for the GoPro Camera. I am lucky enough to know the inventors of the Alti-Force Sensor Pack and had a pre-release unit to play around with. I think this is the perfect tool for all Instructors/Coaches and skydivers. It will display subtitles on your Video showing Altitude and even G-Forces. I think this is an easy to use and affordable tool for Instructors, especially for debriefing students. Here is a link to the Website and a link to a Video that shows it - they seem to have a great Product - Designed in the US and definitely something you can use to train Students or just illustrate the Altitude at any moment on a Jump. Great for Instructors, this is created by US Skydivers who put lots of heart into it , Altitude: Feet, Meters, Both, None Acceleration: XYZ axes, Total magnitude, All, None G-bar: On, Off Temperature: °F, °C, None Video with an example here: https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10153700828693712&set=vb.808653711&type=3&theater

I think the pricing is very reasonable, check it out at: http://www.altiforce.net/ Here is the Video for the Altiforce https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=686824438095479&theater ( i am not the manufacturer or seller, i know the guys who did this and just support their Idea)
  4. maybe someone has done somethng like this. I got a Z1 FullFace and have the Square-1 Gopro Mount, while i think this "cased/curved mount" is pretty much "snag resistant" i still somehow would like to add a "cutaway" to the helmet, has anyone done something like this with a Z1, how about a "2 or 3 ring release" in the ChinStrap - something on the market ?
  5. in the meantme, i came up with a screenprotector , 2mm of Plexiglas, check out the Pictures. They are coming with 4 slightly longer screws, fit into the Hardhousing perfectly while keeping buttons acessable. i dropped some at Gravity Gear in San Diego and can Mail them if someone wants them.
  6. Hi Gang, i just want to update that ICARUS came back with the results of their investigation, while they cannot confirm it was the canopy or the previous repair they offered me a solution thats completely acceptable to me and i can say, although it took some time - they made a serious effort to make me a happy customer that would return for Business with them !
  7. if interested, send payal to [email protected] i ship within a couple days !!
  8. Hi guys, i noticed many of my friends using the N3 Altimeter are having either dents in the Aluminum case or cracks in their screens, so a ran a little CNC Production of Screenprotectors, if anyone is interested, see the pictures - it is easy to install in the "hardcase" Wristholder - i sell them for 10 USD incl. Shipping (the Production cost was 5,50 Euro (about 8$)so i am not tying to make a profit here - just helping people out to protect their Gear ! The buttons will be acessable ! In July i will also drop some at Gravity Gear in San Diego, so you may just talk to Bonnie!
  9. The worst slamming canopy I've ever owned was a Cobalt 170, loaded at 1.7:1 It was absolutely the worst canopy I ever owned. The openings were just plain ol' unpredictable. I did find out how stop it. I know this is going to sound retarded, but it opened perfectly in a sit-fly, stand, or in the speediest part of turning and burning. Sent it back to them, they refunded my money. I meant to ask you about the slider dimensions. I had a Heat Wave 170 after the Cobalt, best canopy I've ever own next to my new X-Fires. However there were a number of us that bought them, and we had to put larger sliders in them to open correctly, it worked.
  10. look UP UP UP... i had spinning issues and finally we figured out i was looking to much "down" .. head tilt backwords did the trick for me
  11. unfortunally i have not heard back from them, if thats an indication of the Customer Service they provide in spain i am not happy. the US REP is very nice and respinsive but keeps telling me to wait for a reply week after week. That canopy is now in Spain for almost 4 weeks
  12. thank all for the valuable Info, i will take that "thing" to my rigger in San Diego and have him look at it (he is german, so he may has seen some of them) and see how it looks ,-) thanks again for all the valuable input !
  13. go through a Local Dealer / Rigger to have the Transaction Brookered, it puts BOTH SIDES at ease, the fee you pay the Dealer is worth it !
  14. thanks , will do , may have to sell it in Europe then ,)
  15. thanks so much , so i have to part it out i guess ,-(
  16. Hi, can anyone tell me if the Containers from parachutes-de-france are allowed to be jumped in the US and/or the Reserves (Tempo) Also i noticed the mini Risers are attached backwords (rings towards the risers) is that specific to this Brand or generally done with mini Risers, thanks for helping Soeren
  17. Shwan, Shit happens, i had a couple of injuries during my AFF (AFF1 started right with a ruptured Meniscus) - you get that stuff early out of the way and then have no issues anymore later in your Skydiving career ,-)) get better soon ! what happend to you anyway?
  18. i did about 100 Jumps with my N3 and never had an Issue, make a FULL RESET , if that dosent help - send it in. I usually do not wait until it "turns on", part of my gear check is , press the middle button and make sure it switches on"
  19. no news from Icarus as of now, the Safire-2 is in Spain for review for about 2 weeks now
  20. Hey Papcio, i have a L&B SOLO in my helmet and use additionaly the N3-AUDIO. The N3 requires you to wear Earbuds, it will "talk" to you during freefall and tell you "10-housand, 9 thousand .. and so on every 1000 ft, until it yells at you "DEPLOY". To me this is a great thing, i heard others that would not like it - a nice extra (although i never used it) is you can patch Music into that N3 Audio and listen to Music - most people i have heard think it is a BAD IDEA - i would maybe do it in a high pull and only if i know i am the only one up there. The N3 Audio also logs all your Jumps, and you can import them to "Paralog" as a electronic Logbook, it however has NO VISUAL ALTIMETER / it just does AUDIBLE If you just look for a "beeper" you cannot go wrong with the L&B Solo II - easy to set and very small - if fits in tight spaces and is loud !
  21. Alti-2 actually states on their page that the drivers and Batterypower is not sufficient for the use with speakers. i have tried it myself and could tell that during a "reading" the display would "flicker" and in FF i could not hear a thing even in my FullFace. I use sheap "in ear buds" that actually also shield from some noise in FF - under Canopy i still hear other things. Love the Altitude Awareness it gives me in FF - however my policy is , if i dont hear a "NINETHOUSAND or EIGHTTHOUSAND" i will go right to my visual N3 on my wrist. I am NOT using the MP3 Pass through at all - i considered it for a HIGH PULL maybe one day.. but think it is highly unsafe to blast MUSIC into ears while under Canopy !
  22. i found Meredith from the Service Center to be extra nice and helpful, i am sure they will help you to get it fixed. Was it a "hard" opening or a normal opening. Keep us in the loop what they said !
  23. i can assure you, even if they would repair it - i would NOT put it over my head and not even sure if i would try to sell it (with full disclosure of the story) to someone ...
  24. Thanks Eric, when i bought it i thought "repaired by Icarus" means it is all okay - noone would have thought there is an Issue. I took the blame for way to long that it was my "Body Position" and replied several times "never had that Issue in AFF, never had Line Twists in AFF" - but worked on it anyway. I had some serious bruising even before the final Slammer at Jump 56 (the one that ripped the bottom) cause the Caopy usualy opened with a nice YANK to the LEFT. The Problem seems that the Service Center in Illinois knows "something" that Icarus is not owning up to - cause the "experimental" Slider is NOT a product of Icarus but rather a "addon" by Para-concepts after they seen some of these Problems. Also with 220 Pounds Exit Weight i was loading this lightly. I used it first with the "Experimantal" Slider and had 1400 Feet openings that were sniveling so slow that my right hand was going to the Handle several times while yanking me into a LineTwist at the same time. Looking at my LogBook - NONE of the OPENINGs were NICE ... The Canopy is now in Spain at Icarus Headquarters, and i hope they will come up with a solution. Funny fact: after just 8 Jumps i asked our Local GearStore Lady if she knew of "anyone" my Shape and Size" with LOTS of expirience who would be willing to DEMO it to tell me if my feeling that something "is wrong" with this Canopy is fact or fiction ... We never had someone who could proof my point, so i kept working on my BodyPosition. It is good that i am not as injured as the original owner was, but still after almost 3 Weeks, i have bruises all over the areas of the Harness and my Neck is still Stiff as a rock ... The Fact that they requested the Canopy to be sent to Spain for their Inspection tells me that they take this serious enough and i hope they come up with an Idea. Something i got during this Discussion and from some people that have sent PMs allegeded that the Safire-2 in sizes of 190 and higher seem to have a tendency to open "harder " and thats why "Para Concept" came up with that "experimantal slider" - it may has to do with the Scaling of the Canopy. but .. what do i know ,)
