  1. From: Lyal Waddell [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, May 06, 2009 10:27 PM To: Lyal Waddell Subject: Wing Suit course Hello Jumpers For those of you that are interested in a little wing suit instruction we have lucked out in getting the opportunity to introduce you to Douglas Spotted Eagle. Wing Suit Instructor “Douglas Spotted Eagle” is coming to Eden North Saturday, June 20 and Sunday June 21, 2009 He has over 600 wingsuit skydives and was Line anchor for the 71 way world record event (also was media coordinator for entire event) Producer, editor of Wingsuit 101 and Wingsuit 202 training DVDs These excellent DVD’s will be available at the Drop Zone Douglas Spotted Eagle Here on June 20 and 21, 2009 Wing suit instruction at its best. He has the suits and the teaching experience and knowledge. Now is the chance to take up the challenge. Three slots available each day. Register asap with a $50 deposit which will be applied to your coach jumps *****Call Lyal 780 489 9000 ***** Limited slots available***** We need your canopy size as well as your weight and measurements to accommodate you with a specific wing suit. Questions answered by Douglas; Number of first timers 2-3 each day is optimal, but no requirement Base experience level required? They must have 200 jumps, Canadian equivalent of a USPA B license. 200 jumps is 200 jumps. How many jumps expected? two jumps with each FFC/First Flight Course. Only one is necessary, unless they have so many air issues that I have to tell them “Let’s do another to see if we can clean that up.” I don’t sign logbooks that clear them if they’re not stable in two jumps. Class time associated with your program two ways to run the FFC; A- Two or more candidates, requires a 1 hour morning class B- Individually. Approximately 35-40 minute class, pre booked How many suits can you bring with you? 4-6 suits. I have petites to “big guy” suits. What other costs would be associated with the coaching and or course for first timer’s vs. more experienced individuals? Cost of FFC is jump ticket plus 20.00. This includes suit rental. Cost of standard coaching is 10.00 plus jump ticket. Other FFC requirements. These aren’t USPA or CSPA requirements; these are “Douglas Spotted Eagle” and Flock University requirements; ~Must have a square parachute not loaded greater than 1:3 ~Must have an AAD ~Must have an Audible Altimeter ~Must have a hard helmet ~I have a Flock University waiver that is an add-on to the DZ’s waiver.
  2. Given the above response Why (if you had not been injured) were you willing to come up to Canada and (as advertised on the DZ website)train First Flight Students who did not meet the CSPA minimum requirements?
  3. I dislocated my right shoulder in Dec 05 along with a small fracture with a long name,(a dent in the ball at the top of the bone) I was back flying my(then Gti)suit by July 06 Because I was worried about my shoulder strength, I had my rigger switch my rig to a left hand pull and have had no problems. Even with a bigger suit. Dislocations stretch the ligaments that hold the shoulder together, with some people the shoulder gets so loose that they dislocate very easily in which case they need surgery to tighten up the shoulder. Talk to your Doctor.
  4. It was in 2000 Groom and Bride still married He doesn't jump any more 'Usher' hurt his pinkie finger, still jumps "Best Man" broke his wrist The video of him hitting the cars was in the opening shots of a local TV station's newscast for about a year after that He still jumps lots The fourth (video guy) had a perfect tippy toe landing not shown here, neither was the nice downplane the groom and best man did.

  7. The AMA covers you as long as it is recreational (not professional) Ask for sure , the last thing you want is to get injured and find out you are not covered. Andrew
  8. Hi Rob, I use the AMA additional medical for my US trips costs about $90 for a year, with as many trips of 15 days or less as you want. CAA in Ontario may have a similar plan Try a travel agent and see what plans are available Andrew

  12. Obstacle avoidance should not start 100ft off the ground It is about decision making while you have plenty of altitude We also teach flat turns close to the ground, full toggle turns up high You would rather have them fly straight into power lines than flat turn and land parallel?

Spot...You need to tell Mr Campos not to front riser that low...
  14. Kyle in Stu's old Gti Sorry, couldn't even find a CAMPOS impersonator
  15. If you intend to jump in the UK, you will be required to join BPA even foreign licensed jumpers must join to jump there.
  16. God broke the mold after he made you Reggie!!! Thanks to Pete for the quick repack, and for the people who found me and my gear so quickly Thanks to Avery for the shirt and buying supper for everyone Saturday Attached a frame grab of Reggie , Spot and Stu Andrew
  17. QuoteIt does not make any distinction between jumping from an aircraft and any other type of parachuting. The bit about needing permission to jump in uncontrolled airspace just made ground launching and BASE jumping illegal without a permit. __________________________________________________ 603.36 This Division applies in respect of a parachute descent conducted by a person from an aircraft in flight. That looks like a clear distinction to me
  18. Bill Cole D-41 TIM: Are you so unethical that you stole my D-41 licence.????? Your D41 is CSPA Smiles D41 is CAPS

  22. I assume from this that you are having difficulty breaking the intial resistance of the velcro ( I demonstrate this every time I train a student to cut away, by picking up the rig by the handle ) so if you mate the velcro well, it requires some effort to separate. If you only partially mate the velcro, it is easier to come apart but could potentially do so when not wanted. A solution would be to sew a loop, the same size as the cable loops on BM/PF suits ( big enough for 2 fingers) at the wrist, the jumper could then reach and rip the velcro apart. No second zipper needed
  23. That would be a very long cable on the SM1, and those who don't have a dedicated WS rig like the quick hook up a zipper gives
  24. On your original suits, the wings were held by an RSL clip and a velcro strip on the bottom portion of the wing, then on the newer suits the bottom portion was sewn, with the velcro moved to along the arms. If you replace the sewn part with cables and loops, with the handles being at the hips/laterals, so that the jumper could pull the cables up rather than down( reaching past the knees on the SM1 would be hard) then the jumper could release enough of the wing to be able to reach their risers. The top portion of the wing would still be zippered on, and the cables would only have to be hooked up once then left alone.
