Crashed in tunnel - big shoulder pain 4-5 days later - X-Ray report concluded "bursitis". While researching ways to get rid of pain I ran into a product said to help called "Osmo Patch". https://www.osmopatch.com/ Has anyone had experience with it personally or heard from a friend about it. Any help appreciated -shoulder pain is very intense

Crash in tunnel = Bursitis diagnosis

What does "straight up woo" mean? I'm over 65 and not up on all modern terminology. :) -
Phase 2 of Delayed Reaction Tunnel Injury post with different focus - X-Ray analysis report said my recent tunnel crash has caused condition called Bursitis. While researching ways to get rid of this intense shoulder pain I ran into a product said to help called "Osmo Patch". Has anyone had experience with Osmo Patch personally or heard from a friend about it. https://www.osmopatch.com/ Any help appreciated -

I mark the part where your attempt failed (if it was planned as written - it was fai;ed at the planing phase already) It should be "upper body over" not "feet under" and keep control on those legs! Understood NWPoul Also interested in answers to injury experiences questions - Anyone ever have a net impact experience like that when you impact one side of your body on the net and the other side comes up with the pain ? Is it common for pain from a tunnel injury to happen - days later?

Three to four days after failed attempt at a belly to back transition on Feb 26, 2018 (feet under) (video attached - incident at 47 second mark - 1/2 speed may help view incident) no pain at all initially (kept flying as if nothing happened) then 3-4 days later the left shoulder began to have minor discomfort - just enough to let me know something was up. A day or two later and since then left shoulder is hurting quite badly when arm is moved to the point where any movement is very painful. Today 3-7-2018, incident happened Feb 26, 2018 Video link - https://youtu.be/krQcrCl_0rk Odd thing is that upon reviewing the video of the failure I saw that I landed on my right shoulder. Anyone ever have an experience like that when you impact one side and the other side comes up with pain ? Is it common for the body to respond like that - days later?

Has anyone ever set up a mirror (e.g. dressing mirror oriented horizontally ) outside a tunnel to view one's own body position while flying ? Do any tunnels have mirrors available for this purpose? Saw a video of flystation and it looked like one facet of the octagonal wall was all mirror. Reviewing my flight vids is OK but I think it would be better at times to see my flight positions in real time as I fly so as to make position adjustments on the spot and learn what the correct position feels like to build muscle memory for the right position.

Simply LOCK (possibly deadbolt) school classroom doors when kids are in - from now on. Teacher opens and relocks for restroom trips. Bottom line teacher to be 100% in control of locks - accountability and zero confusion of where responsibility lies. Door found unlocked at inappropriate time when class in session teacher is fired - not to be mean but need accountability. Downside - union issues/contract update. Acceptability might hinge upon other safety factors/issues such as evacuation for fire etc.

X 2 on this suggestion. "Demand that media start showing the actual wounds suffered by the victims when covering mass shootings." I heard one Parkland parent say their child was shot 9 times - photos of those injuries with pre-shooting photos of same child would bring some kind of change. Caveat - This would require approval of all immediate family members (e.g. mom, dad, siblings).

There is a structured learning protocol that builds skills upon on another as one progresses in tunnel flying. May want to check it out https://tunnelflight.com/skills There may be a different but similar skills learning sequence in Europe that coaches there follow. Private coaching for more rapid progression may be an option - they can buy time cheaply add their fees to their cost and U pay about the same as if U bought retail time.

Thanks to all that offered the good advise here. With arm and calf sleeves over my baggy suit and 27 lbs(12 1/4 kilos) in a weight belt - flying became stable at 67.5 % wind speed (105 mph.) Either way 4 way isn't nearly as simple as it looks when done by experienced flyers. Then again nothing in the tunnel is easy as it looks. :)

Thanks to all for the good well meaning advise. Flew tonight with my weird rig of arm, calf sleeves and 27 lbs/121/4 kilos. Worked good enough and satisfied 4 way group managers concerns about my stability (mine too). Felt good/comfortable tonight in the higher wind speed for 1st time. Will be investing in a good freestyle type suit soon but this will have to do in the meantime. Thanks again to all who helped. Frank

Challenge: Flightsuit has somewhat baggy arms and legs - Am stable on belly at 60%/91mph/146.5kmh - unstable at 67%/105mph/169kmh. Can maintain constant elevation now but when I try to take grips arm movement causes undesired ascent. Goal - maintain elevation and be able to bring arms down for grips in 4 way. I bought arm and calf sleeves assuming they will increase my fallrate in the tunnel so that I can fly with a group of 4 way folks that fly at 7% more power than I do with my standard iFLY student suit. My plan is to put on my G-Form elbow and knee pads and then install the arm and calf sleeves over them to remove a lot of the flapping of the material. Probably will need some weight also but will adjust that when in the tunnel. Question 1 - Should I expect notice much of a fallrate increase with Just the sleeves and pads on outside of the suit? Question 2 - Does this sound like a reasonable plan that can work? Yes I could get a tight suit but not ready for that expense right now and I like my current suit for other fun stuff when solo in tunnel. Thaks for All Advise in Advance

113 degrees farenheit - warm for sure !!! At least there was a strong breeze.

HaHa - This is a great way to get a few dimes spent in the tunnel to break the record. :) All kidding aside - quite an accomplishment.

Maybe this article can be preserved here somehow so it is easily accessible for future interested folks.

The discussion beginning from 44 min 30 sec until 57 - 46 into this audio file of a Radio Skydive UK interview leads me to think Airborne San Diego will fade into tunnel history but Who Knows. One of the 2 tunnels experiencing two catastrophic potentially lethal failures about a month apart and a budget of approx 250+% of it's original estimate estimate didn't help. Sad situation for owners and possible clients. The discussion - http://radioskydive.co.uk/ep-47-tristan-hampson-headline-interview

Just want to take the time to thank you both for the informative responses to my questions during these holidays when all are busy especially rockyskygirl. I know a lot more than I did b4 asking. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

I am a 5ft 9 in 138 pound that currently can fly comfortable and descend from up high via boxman arching procedure using 60% of iFLY Ft Lauderdale's power. Any more power and I have problems getting down unless I pull and fold arms in mantis style. I may begin flying with a relative group that keeps the power at 70% for all the blocks they fly (the happy medium for this group). My Question #1 is: Can anyone estimate the amount of weight I would need to add to be comfortable/stable at 70% of a modern state of the art iFLY 14 ft dia tunnel ? Question #2 - Anyone have a belt for sale or have a link to a source? Thanks Much in Advance' Frank

Just livening the link by installing the "url" thingy (from below) b4 and after it - http://www.kuwaitskydiveco.com/

I'm thinking about getting into skydiving!
wan2doit replied to chasitie's topic in Introductions and Greets
Possibly consider 10 minutes in a wind tunnel to get the feel of the air and practice arching the back. Should assist initial stability in freefall.
