  1. Based on early feedback on this forum, I really didn't expect much fun-jumping activity at this dropzone. Showed up mid-day on my first day in Cuba and got three jumps in from the Antonov-2 before the beer started flowing at sundown!! Awesome time! My first 2 jumps were beach-landings before they felt I was ready for an airport/DZ landing :) I showed up solo and ended up jumping with a Venezuelan, a fellow Canadian, and a Cuban. Can you say 4-way?! :) So highly recommend this DZ as a travel destination!!!
  2. I was in the same boat earlier in January 2016. My solution was to take local transit to downtown LA Union station. From there $13 got me on the Metrolink train to Riverside, then my Metrolink pass allowed me to bord to 2 local buses that dropped me off in Perris within a short walk to the Perris DZ and a great week of jumping. After which I simply reversed the trip to fly home from LAX. Was long but considerably cheaper than renting a car.
  3. Thanks Buddy, so looking forward to it; whatever jumps I get. Will try to bring the beer fine from home to share :)
  4. How was your Cuba Skydiving experience? Any suggestions? I'm hoping to connect with Eutimio Pérez Barrera while staying across the street from the Varadero, Cuba DZ for a week next month. The hope is to grab a jump slot whenever either the plane or helicopter flies a load. Where else can one jump Russian military surplus aircraft for fun jumps?!!
  5. Looking to buy a used AAD with some life left in them. The Cypres need maintenance after a while. The Vigil IIs as well I understand. I've heard that a good Aviacom Argus (with cutter replaced on or after 2011), or an FXC ASTRA will last forever if maintained. Is there any truth to the rumours that an expired Cypres, or a Vigil I can be traded in for a new model? Should I be looking for one of these? Can't jump without one but if I buy new, there'll be no budget left for jumping :(
  6. Ah the memories of the DC3s at Z-Hills in the '80s (both before and after George & Betty's rebuilding of Phoenix). N66Whisky ("Bird Machine" I think) Our Douglas (ZzzzZzzz) Mr.Douglas (quiet & comfortable) Southern Cross (What?, Speak Up!)
