  1. Crypto is an interesting underlying tech concept (blockchain) that will never do in the real world what it's proponents claim it can. It's a market that's absolutely saturated with charlatans and grifters, because the thing that makes it attractive to a certain personality type - "Hey isn't it cool how this is unregulated and a pure free market, no government interference, whoo!" - is the exact thing that attracts the scams. You can do cool things with crypto, but what it's *actually* used for is a giant ponzi casino. I've made thousands off it in recent years, but if it all went to zero tomorrow I won't have lost a cent of my own money.
  2. I've adjusted my position on this one, I no longer think he's on the DZ.com payroll for engagement purposes. I think he's the one paying the Mods now. I can understand them wanting to get a little sugar on the side...
  3. And the clear reason that the current SC is now confirmed to be nakedly partisan is that they used directly conflicting arguments to make both of those rulings. For guns, they decided it was far too important a right to allow states to make their own decisions, and that a federal approach was better. For abortion, no more federal protections, let the states sort it out.
  4. Your concern is about children's bodies being permanently modified before they're old enough to know better, right? Both of those activities do exactly that when children start them at the ages necessary to turn them into potential careers. And in numbers far outweighing trans-children receiving any interventions (and surgical interventions amongst actual children are almost non-existent). What could possibly be different here that draws your ire in a more pointed fashion? Hmm, it's a mystery.
  5. Correct, ballet and gymnastics for children should absolutely be banned.
  6. I think this one gets overlooked far too often. Most people just go to the EC because it's the well known one, but the Senate representation is just another massive second bite out of the pie for Republicans, simply because rural areas tend to trend conservative. This also is another reason it annoys me so much when Republicans win and immediately act like they have a mandate to do anything they like. Even with the massively disproportionate advantages of rampant gerrymandering, the EC, and the Senate allocations, they still barely win. If the scales were actually balanced they wouldn't win at all.
  7. I fairness I actually hadn't dug too much into the background, and was basing it on a tweet this morning I saw from a lawyer I follow, who definitely wouldn't count as a fan of LB's and definitely leans left: I've looked more into it now, and I'd definitely be erring on the side of "the SW stuff is almost definitely fake, the abortions probably also". The screenshots of text messages they've put up as evidence are heavily redacted and read more like fan fiction than normal conversation, and at least one of the images being used is unlikely to be of her. Not something I'd be sharing until there's more to back it up. Still well within the realms of possibility, but not worth falling into the oppositions tendency to eat something up just because it's so so juicy that I want it to be true...
  8. Apparently fake. Disappointing how many people leapt at it though. But in fairness, most of the commentary I've seen hasn't been judgemental of her alleged SW or terminations, just the outrageous hypocrisy (if it had been true).
  9. At this point I need the Mods to come clean and admit the truth - Brent is on the DZ.com payroll to drive engagement and generate traffic. There's no other explanation for the amount of clickbaity, substance-less threads being churned out by a single poster almost daily...

  11. This thread has reminded me of an email I'd been meaning to post about, re: the utter hypocrisy of those decrying the grooming/brainwashing/influencing that the left are allegedly doing to children. Background: When Parler launched (one of the more recent attempts at a right-wing social media platform) I created an account just to get a temperature read on how close it would get to being an "open" environment like they wanted - spoiler alert, it was a rabid echo-chamber with a badly-copied Twitter interface. I get emails from them about once or twice a week. A few have links to articles or issues around conservative concerns. A lot are straight up grifts (Melania Trump NFT's, anyone?). But the most recent one to catch my eye was straight up indoctrination: The text of the email: I guess a kid can't be too young to have their political views installed for them, so long as they're the *right* views, huh?
  12. You're right, it's not technically any more or less of a tragedy than any of the others - I never bother clicking the links so didn't even realise it was Billy until more people had commented and added context. I guess it's just more the emotional whiplash of logging in here each day, seeing someone make the calm argument that a big part of their reasoning for having firearms (relatively recently) at home was for protection, then not even a week later using them against the people they were supposed to protect. It's just so, so, SO dumb.
  13. What in the actual fuck. The last couple of pages of the thread are just depressing now.
  14. No, the left just recognises a dog-whistle when they see one. I mean, it's been more of a dog-siren at this point, so I can only presume that those who can't see it for what it is, simply don't want to. The theory is about white people being replaced by non-whites - just because you're not explicitly bringing in black people anymore doesn't mean that an adherent of the theory wouldn't still consider them a perfectly valid target. Nowhere in his actions or the rest of his manifesto does he show traits of being leftist. His self-identification is painfully transparent trolling and you should honestly know better than to fall for it.
  15. LMAO and there it is: SpaceX Paid $250,000 to a Flight Attendant Who Accused Elon Musk of Sexual Misconduct (businessinsider.com) Certainly only an allegation at this time, but the timing of him saying "you're going to hear bad things about me and they're definitely just hit pieces" immediately before this news dropped is absolutely protesting too much...
  16. His recent posts about "watch the attacks increase" is painfully transparent spin to pre-empt what is likely to be some big news about him or one of his companies being very very naughty.
  17. They're not sending their best.... I thought the troll farms all supported each other, but the dude's only got 14 subscribers....
  18. If only it could have been the return of ConcreteReboundHammer...
  19. I wondered that, but don't remember anyone being quite this on the nose...
