  1. Didn't Travis Pastrana get banned from skydiving for doing a stunt similar to this? how is this guy not getting the banned too?
  2. I'm starting AFF as soon as I graduate high school which is in 20 days, will take a year off, get another job, and make as many jumps as possible. I just need to find a good DZ near me to start the AFF course, Sky's the limit in PA is a good one but it's too far and I don't get my license until september, I wish I could go to Sky dive the ranch but it's too far.
  3. Yeah I know, I just like to hear different opinions from people. Thanks.
  4. I found a buddy a used rig in great condition for a bit over 1/3 that. How do you find good used gears, do you find them in DZ? or look online?
  5. No, the 3k for the A license is separate. So 6k it's enough for good used gear? around how much is a new one?
  6. I'm 18, full time high school student making around 13k a year, 10k after taxes. Was planning on starting skydiving this spring break but I've been busy, as soon as I graduate I'll start jumping almost everyday and buy a rig because renting seems kinda expensive, with a budget of 6k will I be able to get a good one? Didn't want to make a thread for this so I'll just ask here.
  7. $2600 for everything it's not bad actually, sucks not being able to go there.
  8. But can't we finish the AFF and do the jumps whenever we want?
  9. When are you planning to start the AFF course? It would be cool to have a training buddy haha, I'm still not sure though, I'm going to start calling places maybe this saturday to see where I'll go, Jersey Shore seems like a nice place.
  10. Unless I'm getting things mixed up here $1,685 isn't that bad considering it's a little over 2k at Skydive The Ranch. I wouldn't mind paying 2k as long as the classes are really good. How much is it at Jersey Shore, and how old are you?
  11. I don't know man, where do you live? I've heard Cross Keys is a good place to skydive I don't know about their AFF course though do you know how much it is?
  12. I'm not sure if this goes here, if it doesn't I'm sorry. Well, I'm from NJ (08831) and I was going to start my AFF course in a DZ 30 minutes away from here (Skydive Jersey Shore) but I've been wanting to go to Skydive The Ranch since I got into skydiving but it's too far and I don't drive yet. So I've decided to take the bus/train whatever I find that can take me there as long as it's not too expensive. Has anyone ever done something like this? I mean I'll probably get lost my first time since I'm not much of a traveler myself, can anyone give me some tips as to how I can achieve this? Thanks.
  13. Skydive Jersey Shore since it's the closest one to where I live, why?
  14. So can I buy one of those good quality expensive helmets even if I'm a beginner? I plan on skydiving a lot, so should I just go for the one I want instead of buying different helmets?
  15. Well, my name is Luis, I turned 18 last august and will soon take the AFF course to start skydiving. I know, nothing interesting to read here, just wanted to say hi.
  16. After finishing with the AFF course can I start buying some gear or should I wait until I have enough money to buy a rig and then buy everything I need? Can I buy a helmet, an altimeter, or should I wait until I have my rig? how about a jumpsuit? can I buy one of those or should I first buy the rig? I've seen some $300+ helmets, can I get one of those or should I buy cheap ones since I'm just a beginner, how about jumpsuits, new or used? altimeter? Thanks.
  17. So I'm planning on going skydiving and getting my license but the DZ I wanted to go is too far away from where I live (2 hour drive) so I was looking for another DZ closer to where I live and I found this one, it's Skydive Jersey Shore. I've read reviews about them and almost all of them say they aren't someone you'd want to do business with but then some say the reviews are wrong because there's another DZ called "Skydive Jersey" which is the one most bad reviews are for. So I'd like to know if any of you guys have been to any of these two DZs. Also, are all the AFF classes the same, because I see the AFF program in Skydive The Ranch is divided into 13 parts and in Jersey Shore is divided in less or atleast that's what I'm seeing right now. Are there different types of AFF training, or are there all the same just put together differently? Skydive The Ranch: http://www.skydivetheranch.com Skydive Jersey Shore: http://www.skydivejerseyshore.com Thank you, and have a nice day.
  18. Hello, I will be going to take the AFF course soon and I'd like to get some info in gear and such things before buying my own. I know, I'm not buying gear anytime soon but I'd like to get as much information about this as possible, like brands, types of gear and what's necessary and what's not. So my budget will be $3,500 just for the important stuff like parachute and things like that, is that enough to get a decent one? apart from that what other things are a must have? Thanks in advance.
