  2. Keep coming out and get on some Chuck-Ways. You'll be there before you know it!! Chad B Hall Woo hoo! My goal is to make every jump a fun and safe one. Blue skies! Some of my videos...
  3. I agree Pizz. The only jumpers I see benefitting from these would be deaf jumpers. It would be a good "audible" for them. Chad B Hall Woo hoo! My goal is to make every jump a fun and safe one. Blue skies! Some of my videos...
  4. I highly recommend the roller mount. I love mine. I feel it offers the best overall snag resistance and it also is very durable. Chad B Hall Woo hoo! My goal is to make every jump a fun and safe one. Blue skies! Some of my videos...
  5. The wind speed only matters if the object is anchored to the ground or another object. As long as your wing is free to move in the air mass the wind speed is irrelevant. Chad B Hall Woo hoo! My goal is to make every jump a fun and safe one. Blue skies! Some of my videos...
  6. The turbines in these tunnels are very strong and well balanced. They are 15-20 feet from the opening to the vertical tube. There are vibration sensors to shut one down in the case of a thrown blade. I doubt very seriously if anyone is in danger of shrapnel in the chamber. You would have to throw a crowbar or something into it to cause a catastrophic failure and even then the damage would most likely be contained within the turbine assembly. We have had gas turbines run continuously for years before shutting them down for maintenance. These are electric and run very cool making them even more reliable. Just hoping to put the full metal jacket idea to rest. Chad B Hall Woo hoo! My goal is to make every jump a fun and safe one. Blue skies! Some of my videos...
  7. I had Lasik over 10 years ago. Best money I ever spent. Can't vouch for anyone else's eyes though. Blue skies and sharp eyes!!! Chad B Hall Woo hoo! My goal is to make every jump a fun and safe one. Blue skies! Some of my videos...
  8. I have a Sabre 2 in one rig and a Pulse in another that I bought recently. I like the Sabre 2 very much. The Pulse is not my cup of tea. It handles sluggish in my opinion compared to the Sabre 2. I have already ordered a Sabre 2 to replace it. I would try to jump them both and decide for yourself. Good luck! P.S. I have a Pulse 230 with only 10 jumps on it I would be willing to sell you. :) Chad B Hall Woo hoo! My goal is to make every jump a fun and safe one. Blue skies! Some of my videos...
  9. I have almost the same story as you...I have just under a year in the sport as I see it (I also have a tandem a few years ago which I don't count as I did nothing but go along for the ride), I am currently 8 jumps short of my D license (already passed the test and did 4 night jumps), I have earned my Coach Rating, I have earned my Regional Judges Rating, I have around 7 hours of tunnel including 4 skills camps with Scott Latinis and a 4-way camp with Spaceland Lite, a Bronze in the TeXXas 20-Ways, etc. and almost all of my jumps are full altitude jumps with 2-35 jumpers. I gave you my resume to let you know I understand your concept and argument. I also disagree and think there should be a 3-year in the sport minimum as well as a 6 hour freefall minimum for either AFF or TI course entry. I am an older "newbie" and I think that has offered me a bit of experience and maturity to believe we need a lot more experience in our sport than we are actually required to have when we are putting other people's lives within our reach. I know there are bright stars like yourself that understand and demonstrate skills well above the average but the argument is not what is best for guys like you (and me) but what is best for the sport...OUR sport. We need strict minimums and self-conformation to those minimums because we can die doing this. Maturity and common sense dictates we do the necessary steps to protect everyone even if we must endure the extra "un-necessary" time and training that a lesser jumper might require because it is in the best interest of the sport and is the only way to protect ourselves across the board. You can't grade skydiving and ratings on a curve...failure is a high cost...not a grade. Just my opinion... Chad B Hall Woo hoo! My goal is to make every jump a fun and safe one. Blue skies! 10. I saw a post on FB that he did not pay for anyone else's jump...from a Spaceland staff member wanting facts to be known vs. hearsay. But then again...things may have happened since that post. Also, that group page has been taken down along with that post and all of the following posts. Chad B Hall Woo hoo! My goal is to make every jump a fun and safe one. Blue skies! Some of my videos...
  11. Skydive Spaceland is my home DZ (awesome DZ), Chuck Akers is a close friend and mentor and the Boyds (Stephen in this case) are all top notch people. I know Simon from being around him and have personally seen him help many jumpers, including myself, with advice and suggestions. I hate to see this happen and wish it never had. Skydiving and the skydiving family is one of the best things in my life. I was there that day and saw most of this happen. I don't know the specifics and I also don't know the people well enough to comment beyond what I have said. As far as the Cali guys/gals go I think they rock! I met most of them and they were all super friendly...even to a belly guy like myself. I hope to see them all again at Spaceland and congratulate them on their achievement. With all of that being said I wish Simon the best on getting past this, regaining trust and friendships and hope he makes every effort to make it right. I hope the Cali peeps Keep Calm, take a deep breath and try to think of Texas and Texans in a good way...because we rock!! I look forward to the day our family is happy again and we have sick head down videos and awesome jump pics online instead of all this ugliness. Blue skies doods!! P.S. I accidentally cut off some of the Cali peeps on final and they talked to me like family and accepted my apologies, gave me some high fives and even a hug. I learned something from it and gained some new friends. I hope I didn't get the last of that. I know there is a little bit left in them...I hope. Chad B Hall Woo hoo! 12. I have it on my G2 and love it. It looks to be very snag resistant. The only con is you must get out the allen wrench and remove the top portion to fit your helmet in the bag or go in a wind tunnel. It is a small price for the added comfort level I have. I am sure there are those that disagree but in my opinion it made me much safer. Blue skies!!! Chad B Hall Woo hoo! My goal is to make every jump a fun and safe one. Blue skies! Some of my videos...
  13. I can recommend Spaceland also. I did my A license training there last December and January. Houston area does not get that cold. I actually miss the cooler temps right now! I can also recommend The Ratings Center and DJ for additional training such as the Basic Canopy Course. The DZ is awesome with most everything you could ask for and nearby places for everything else. 16. I read the SIM in a different way I guess...I read it as anyone can make "Coach Jumps" with folks with less skill, plan the dive, observe said skill attempt, debrief, correct, encourage, etc. The difference to me is Coach Rated folks can ALSO do that with students without their license. I believe the Coach Rating is there for student's safety so the student has a trained person helping them versus someone who has not been trained and examined. I also believe a "Coach Jump" can be with anyone who requests help with a specific skill, who receives a proper pre-jump instruction, proper jump, proper debrief and gets a video to study later as well as some next step help and encouragement. Being a newer Coach Rated jumper I am approached by a lot of newly A licensed jumpers who have not put in the hundreds of jumps and tunnel training that I have and want a Coach Jump to help them advance. They are not students but I "Coach" them. I would not jump with a non-licensed person or even one fresh out of student status until I had achieved the skills, training and rating to do so safely. Just my opinion... P.S. And for the record and to be honest I do count those as Coach Jumps, help fill in their logbook, sign their logbook as Coach and have them sign my logbook. No B, C or D licenses towards renewal. Chad B Hall Woo hoo! My goal is to make every jump a fun and safe one. Blue skies! Some of my videos...
  17. ^^^ I see Simon quite a bit and he has a black version and a white summer version. It is his trademark look for sure. He may help. Chad B Hall Woo hoo! My goal is to make every jump a fun and safe one. Blue skies! Some of my videos...

  20. As you all know, Miguel "Woody" Carrasco, passed away recently in a tragic accident. A few weeks prior to this tragedy, Miguel and his fiancé Holly received confirmation that his daughter Maria Victoria has Potocki-Lupski Syndrome (PTLS). This is a duplication of her 17th chromosome. Maria Victoria's life journey will require much ongoing therapy & they want to ensure she receives all possible care. There has been a fund setup to help. https://www.giveforward.com/fundraiser/fpl2/maria-victoria?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=fb_share_stream.share&utm_campaign=primary_FBshare&og_action=hug&t=3 There is no donation too small...everything counts. Please join us in raising money for sweet Maria Victoria. Pass along and share with others. Chad B Hall Woo hoo! My goal is to make every jump a fun and safe one. Blue skies! Some of my videos...

  22. Woody was on my TeXXas 20-way. I jumped with him before but did know him very well. My team was practicing for the competition when the accident occurred. I was there but not on that jump. I was in class getting my Coach Rating. We spent all afternoon looking at the scene and investigation out of the classroom window. Being semi new to the sport this is my only fatality of someone I knew. I am thankful it was not someone I jumped with regularly, one of my instructors, etc. It was still hard to witness and absorb. BSBD Woody. Go West. Prayers for his family and friends. Chad B Hall Woo hoo! My goal is to make every jump a fun and safe one. Blue skies! Some of my videos...
  23. I recently earned my C license and made my 200th jump. I patiently waited until then to seek advice about jumping a camera and then a few jumps later made my first camera jump with a trusted coach so I could ease into a new piece of equipment to get familiar and comfortable. I have jumped with others who jumped a camera quite a bit earlier than the recommended numbers. I personally waited because I had an instructor explain that the recommendations are there based on huge amounts of data and that data supports the recommendations. I realize some guys are uber current (I am one of those) and may have a high degree of awareness and capabilities but I think we should follow the recommendations as they are hard earned by many incidents and fatalities backing up those recommendations. I also can wipe my own ass and I am a big boy but part of being a big boy is being patient and mature when gaining experience. I know there are some that will bash this point of view but it is mine and I thought I would share it for what it is worth. Blue skies everyone! Chad B Hall Woo hoo!
