  1. I've had 5 Sabre2s...currently have (2) 190s in my rigs. They do open off heading sometimes but the flight characteristics and powerful flare more than make up for it. Never line twists for me. The end cells sometimes inflate slow but ALWAYS inflate. I never give them a second thought. Love my Sabre2...
P.S. I have jumped lots of other canopies to see whats out there...won't trade for any of them. Blue skies!!!

You should be more worried about doing any damage to Farmer McNasty's crops... ;) That's what I thought this post was about.

***+1! You can tell the 3 types of staff jumpers by what they work out when they stand up. The "Neck rub" Cameraman's salute, the "Back Stretch" Tandem Salute, and the "Arm Spin/Shoulder Roll" of the AFFI. One day they realize that the fun has gone out of what they do and that there are other ways to make a living. Hopefully, they just take a break and go back to making some casual fun jumps but a lot them just walk off into the sunset.

I have all three. Am I screwed?

Then you become a jump pilot... ;)

  4. I was honored to be part of the 130-way POPS World Record set on Sunday, October 9, 2016. On Saturday we set the 128-way record which was destined to be beat on the last jump of the last day. It was an awesome and safe event. The organizers and captains did an excellent job putting the event together. Dan BC and the entire Perris staff were outstanding as usual. We were told to prepare to beat it in two years. I can't wait!

  5. I think I will hold onto my current 1DX. The 1DX MkII has amazing new features but doesn't have enough of a separation to make me want to upgrade. My 1DX does everything I need it to and more. If I was really into 4K shooting I would probably go with a dedicated video camera for that.

  6. I jump with a guy who has one eye and he does fine. It doesn't seem to affect him at all from what I can tell. Get on a load!!!

***How do you folk suggest dealing with the lack of cutaway for the helmet.

Don't jump helmets without cutaway systems (or a grellfab mount).

If that's not an option and you absolutely must, there's pictures of people using these:

    https://www.chutingstar.com/skydive/chin-cup-quick-release-kit

    and of course there's

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WuqJV3eRH0g

Not sure how successful they would be.

Those wil not work with a KISS helmet. Neither will the Germain suggested chinstrap release.

  8. I think of it as if you eliminate the snag hazard you won't need to cutaway. I have a full on camera helmet setup complete with a cutaway system. Having said that I see the Cookie Roller Mount as a super snag resistant solution. I am much more worried about collisions, canopy collisions, etc. than I am about the mount. I'm sure a bridal or line could possibly half hitch around it but I see that as a very remote possibility. If you are super worried about it I suggest a Cookie Fuel or equal with a roller mount and cutaway chincup. That would be the ultimate camera safe rig in my opinion. Good luck!

  9. I used the Cookie Roller Mount on mine. The curve is slightly different but I was able to mount it with little effort. The Cookie Roller Mount is the best snag resistant mount on the market in my opinion...I know others have their own opinion but I am pretty confident wearing it and feel it is a good mount for my uses. Good luck and blue skies!

Hey people, I'm from New Zealand flying to Los Angeles on Sunday the 7th of June. Never been to the states before and need advice on the easiest way to get out to Perris valley. I'm not too keen on renting a car for how much they cost. Which buses or trains do I take?? Or is there any super awesome people out there that would pick me up from lax airport on the 7th?? Will provide gas money of course! Any help appreciated, thanks and blue skies to all

You can use Priceline to get a car for $20 or less per day. A car is really the most inexpensive part of your trip. One jump costs more. I was recently there and had a full size car for 12 days...total cost $225 plus fuel. Good luck!

  11. I have one in both of my rigs. I'm not a swooper so I am not worried about my speed under canopy causing problems. I also think it should be mandatory the same as seat belts...unless you are a swooper or have a technical reason it would be more dangerous with one. We all have reserves, right? Because something may and will eventually happen to our mains. I'm obviously not counting BASE folks who are not really in this discussion. Some things just make sense and save enough lives to warrant adoption by all...like seat belts...and AADs...and reserves...and inspections...and...
Just my humble opinion. Blue skies doods!!! Woo hoo!!!

  12. Dress for success. A slower suit can do wonders...it did for me. Also, get in the tunnel with a good coach to learn the best body position for you. Good luck!

The rubber/curved flatlock adapter. Do you know which one fits the fuel helmet curvature best?
As I see there is a MXV, ROK, OZONE, GAS and ATOMIC version? My guess would be the MXV version in te size of the helmet, but advice appreachiated?

Sorry but I don't remember. I called Chutingstar and asked them to try them and send me the one that worked best. Good luck!

  14. I have a Cookie Flatlock on mine with a Canon SL1. I have a Brent's ringsight and an Ultimate blow switch. I use the Cookie roller mount for the Hero 4. I made a hollow spacer to get the lens to clear the Hero. I'm sure there will be debate but I like it. A guy that I know has the Fuel and a Flatlock also. His is mounted down flat on the helmet with no spacer but he uses an older style Hero mount instead of the roller.

    Edit: Added another pic.

  15. If you have a bungee attached to your leg straps, check with your rigger to make sure it is installed correctly so that it doesn't create a potential horseshoe malfunction situation...see attachment. Remember...safety third!!!

  16. It boils down to maturity. Are you mature enough to accept and abide by the recommendations in the SIM? If not then maybe skydiving is not for you. We can argue this a million different ways but it can always be diluted down to the one thing that is needed to proceed to the next point...maturity. Coming up with reasons to not adhere to the SIM is enough to stop the conversation. Have fun trolling it for all it's worth.

  17. I shot this with my Hero 4 Black. It is just a quick edit playing around on my first day jumping with it. I shot all of the jumps in 1080 x 120. There are some random spots of slow motion just to try it out. This is not a formal review or display of editing...just goofing around but I thought you all might like to see some real world samples. It was crummy weather also. Enjoy!
