  1. We have a prototype HKT thats all FT-30 and that or similar hybrid options may be available in the future... Different fabrics can change flight characteristics and handling ect, so a lot of times there are small tweaks to get it flying the same once switching materials.... The lifespan as we've seen with the FT-30 is almost comparable to ZP... We've made pilot chutes and all kinds of high wear stuff out of it and even had someone jumping an all ft-30 helix for over 1000 jumps and it was still stiffer than ZP and wearing very well... its really cool stuff... I was that kid jumping out if his tree house with a bed sheet. My dad wouldn't let me use the ladder to try the roof...
  2. The sail we use on the HK is not FT-30. Its traditional stiff sail. The FT-30 is somewhere between traditional sail and ZP. It's stiffer than ZP and lasts much longer than sail does. Regular sail will break down and lose significant performance somewhere between 300-700 jumps depending on how its treated/environment ect... Those #'s are very subjective. The HKT is ZP top and bottoms with FT-30 internals and will outperform an hk with significant jumps on it, but when new, the HK will perform better not accounting for the slightly different characteristics.. They are very very similar wings, but there are slight differences.. I was that kid jumping out if his tree house with a bed sheet. My dad wouldn't let me use the ladder to try the roof...
  3. take a rectangle of zp/sail/whatever, fold 2 corners, then roll that side to make a sleeve for the drawstring. Fold in half and sew the other 2 sides and put in the drawstring. Done. Nice bag that will last and you wont get the crazy looks. Feel free to add whatver tapes or designs you feel necessary... Super easy and takes 20 min to make... probably less time than youve already spent looking for glorified garbage bags.... I was that kid jumping out if his tree house with a bed sheet. 4. yes im only referring to the sail parts... (ribs) that initial stiffness that the sail has that gives it the edge up in performance degrades quicker than zp does and will settle out softer than similarly worn in ZP so will actually underperform the zp ribs after 3-600 jumps. The top and bottom skins are zp and will wear the same as zp... you know since its the same shit... And, no they didnt develop any "special sail" that im aware of with the peregrine. The peregrine is the F1 of the parachute world and expected to get 4-500 jumps on it and then retired. they are developed to do one thing and really well and not intended for a long life. Its a trade off... Better performance while new that degrades quickly. Its the same fabric a lot of paragliders are made of. Its stiff and crinkly when new and holds its shape exceptionally well. After repeatedly being packed and folded and crumpled, the coating making it stiff flakes off and breaks down leaving you with essentially an f-111 equivalent as far as stiffness and porosity is concerned, and is eventually less stable than even ZP. hope this clarifies it I was that kid jumping out if his tree house with a bed sheet. My dad wouldn't let me use the ladder to try the roof...
  5. The coating on sail that gives it its stiffness, also breaks down easier when folded repeatedly. It will wear out much faster than zp will. You may notice that one side is coated instead of the fabric being impregnated with a flexible silicone as in zp. You'll notice that itll start to look whitish and the folds in it will start to flake over time... just my experience with sail vs zp... the hybrid will outperform the all zp for the first 300-600 jumps and then degrade quickly and settle out just below the zp performance as now the sail parts will be less dimensionally stable... 6. Demo them first... I went from a katana 120 and demoed a velo 120 and it felt and flew huge.... like 150 huge... or so it felt... Took it back after 2 jumps and demoed the 111 and it still felt a little big... then tried and bought a 103 which felt like the right step... I felt way safer on the velo than the katana. you'll have more power and feel more in control of a stiffer wing over you... So demo them and see... this kind of falls outside the "dont downsize and switch planforms" thing.... I was that kid jumping out if his tree house with a bed sheet. My dad wouldn't let me use the ladder to try the roof...
  7. The "what are you pulling at" question annoys me to no end... unless its a high pull it doesnt mean two fucking shits what youre planning on pulling at... vertical separation doesnt mean shit when you lost altitute awarness and pull 1000 ft low, or have a cutaway, or have a premature opening or you have a 1300ft snivel and someone else has a hard opening.... horizontal separation is everything... you wait in the fucking door till your absolutely sure you have enough... and dont fucking track up jump run....know what people are moving and what people are doing on the load. again, vertical stacking is fucking retarded "because well hes pulling at 3.5 and im pulling at 5 so its all good i can go right after them.... rant over I was that kid jumping out if his tree house with a bed sheet. My dad wouldn't let me use the ladder to try the roof...
  8. Not really my call, and could be an option in the future... The pack volume in one issue i can see right off the bat... the HKT already packs larger being a 9 cell platform... Also, if youre looking for extra performance, get the all sail HK... I was that kid jumping out if his tree house with a bed sheet. My dad wouldn't let me use the ladder to try the roof...
  9. Normal hk's are full sail everything and suited to the comp environment only. Think petra/peregrine... The hk terminal is basically the same wing with some tweaks to make it terminal friendly and more suited to every day use and made out of zp with sail ribs. The airwolf has the option of FT-30 which is kind of in between ZP and sail material, but the HK terminal does not. I was that kid jumping out if his tree house with a bed sheet. 10. i was able to stuff a prime 170 low bulk into my i3 long and it wasnt pretty (required test jump)... i have an op143 and usually jump a helix96.... a normal 135 is fucking tight in it... yes itll fit with a long ass closing loop but you're rig will not like it.... I was that kid jumping out if his tree house with a bed sheet. My dad wouldn't let me use the ladder to try the roof...
  11. buy used everything... period... at least till you know for damn sure youre going to keep it for a good long while... which you may think is now but its not. listen or dont, but i'd bet money youll be selling that brand new container a couple hundred jumps from now taking a big monetary hit where you could have bought something else used and even made money depending.... ive bought one parachute new and regretted it in 100 jumps... i was going to be on that thing for "at least a thousand..." my x wife bought a new container and parachute...and sold it 200 jumps later because she downsized out of it.... both were a massive hit financially I was that kid jumping out if his tree house with a bed sheet. 12. anything really will work but the thicker the line is, the less likely line burns on your tail are going to be... just my experience... id go with 900lb dacron... I was that kid jumping out if his tree house with a bed sheet. My dad wouldn't let me use the ladder to try the roof...

  15. I have 2 knock offs. One is great and 2.5 years old, and one is newer and shit... the good one is a DBPower 1080 action camera available on amazon for around 50$. I bought it over 2 years ago after my second gopro died after about 2 years. I had a 3 black, and a 3+black. My wifes 3+ black is still working fine almost 4 years later. hit or miss... My thought process in buying it is amazon is awesome for returns and its 1/8th of the price... so if it lasts 3 months, then its worth it. The one i have has no wifi to kill the battery accidentally. The camera can be left for weeks and the battery will stay charged unlike the gopro. It has a screen on the back for instant replays. other than that, functions the same as a gopro. Side by side, the video quality looks a little less color rich, but just barely. Also switching from dark to bright and back again takes a half second longer than the gopro. Id totally recommend the dbpower brand... https://www.amazon.com/DBPOWER-Waterproof-Action-Batteries-Accessories/dp/B01MZ2BNQK/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1492720350&sr=8-4&keywords=dbpower I was that kid jumping out if his tree house with a bed sheet. 17. 1400+ jumps and nope. Physically moving around near the door and getting out still gets me. literally .2 seconds after i let go of the plane all the nervousness is gone and im in the moment.... 18. The missing spots in the progression are coming... Its a new company and it takes time... The helix is not a prerequisite of the airwolf. They are 2 flavors if you will, within the same class. I was that kid jumping out if his tree house with a bed sheet. My dad wouldn't let me use the ladder to try the roof...
  19. the slider that is currently used is the "original" removable slider that was designed by scott roberts and was used by pd for a while when he was competing and i guess he never saw a reason to change it. Now there is... For the record, myself and quite a few of the people doing testing have voiced our complaints about the design... Personally ive made quite a few of my own sliders based somewhat off of a lookma design and do like that... however... the new one is even easier and faster than that to hook up, its lighter, and has no grommets to feed through... I was that kid jumping out if his tree house with a bed sheet. My dad wouldn't let me use the ladder to try the roof...
  20. Little bit of a shameless plug but hey, why not... we have a new slider design as well that's in testing... super easy to hook up and will fit the existing rings current fluid ring owners have. I personally have had more complaints about the rds than anything else... Super fast to hook up, coming very very soon... I was that kid jumping out if his tree house with a bed sheet. My dad wouldn't let me use the ladder to try the roof...
  21. at a 2.0 is where my bottom end flare and general ability to dig out went to hell on a katana... 240lbs exit on a katana 120. I'd assume youll see the same thing at a slightly less loading on the sabre... this doesnt mean you cant fly a katana at 2.5, but the performance actually decreases at a certain point as you start getting heavier loadings. What i mean by this is say hypothetically, you find yourself low, and youll be able to dig out much faster and efficiently further from the stall point on something cross braced than, something not.. generally.... I was that kid jumping out if his tree house with a bed sheet. My dad wouldn't let me use the ladder to try the roof...
  22. my performance dropped off significantly at the 2.0 loadings... youll be safer after this on a velo. i know it sounds stupid, but given a katana or a velo, id take the velo into a corner every time over the katana. you can dig and pull out a velo, you cant really to the same effect with a katana. it has all the dive of a velo without the range and responsiveness which i feel contributes to a lot of the people who get hurt on them.. itll dig out on toggles but not like a velo will... the first jump i did on a velo off 3 sizes of katanas and my only thought was, wow, wtf? why didnt i do this sooner... all of a sudden i felt much safer... I was that kid jumping out if his tree house with a bed sheet. My dad wouldn't let me use the ladder to try the roof...
  23. The main benefit of sail is it doesnt stretch on the bias and reduces the chordwise distortion between attachment points. sail is coated with polyurethane or an epoxy, instead of silicone. The crossbraces are zp, (i assume) for pack volume and there is not much of a benefit of sail there. anywhere they can possibly deform, they are taped and reinforced. You will see a slight improvement at first, but then as the coating cracks and flakes off, it will underperform zp. Somewhere between jump 350 and 500 id bet the zp version, side by side will perform better from there on out... If nothing else changes it will not change major flight characteristics. it will simply feel sportier and slightly more responsive.. the recovery arc should actually decrease as you add efficiency and take away distortions, so i dont buy that... This is why fluid wings has developed their own fabric with one of their suppliers, that is both siliconized for longevity and another super secret coating that gives it a little edge over normal zp without the cracking and flaking and pack volume of normal sail cloths. Were calling it FT-30. Its entirely different than sail and more classified as a zp type material, but its also different than anything else out there and showing promise. The airwolf will be available in all zp, FT-30 ribs, and FT-30 ribs and topskin.... just saying I was that kid jumping out if his tree house with a bed sheet. 24. It fills the gap between the Helix and the HK/HS class. It is geared more towards a competition use, but very suitable for everyday jumping. There will be multiple options on construction depending on what you're looking for. Longer recovery than the helix, and less sensitive... more suited to a comp environment I was that kid jumping out if his tree house with a bed sheet. 25. silver or gold sharpie... itll stay for a while and then flake off eventually unlike black or any other colors... i use it while working on black. my chalk pencils dont like it I was that kid jumping out if his tree house with a bed sheet.
