Without making too much of a judgment -- how much do you tell your family about accidents?
Nothing.
They don't really understand the risk we accept on the level that other skydivers do.
I guess I tell a lot more than most then.
My wife, parents, hell, even my children (all of them, from 11 to 3 years) know that each and every time I get on that plane, I may not be coming back. I tell them that in no uncertain terms. Even the children understand that. We have all dealt with great personal loss recently. My wife lost her Grandmother and Uncle within 3 days of each other. I lost my Grandfather also. This affected the children, but they really do, now, understand death.
When I tell them I love them, they all give me big hugs (gotta love your kids), kisses, and tell me they "hope" to see me again. They know they may not. My oldest children really understand this, and are a bit more understanding of why I will not sign for them to do it early. They have to wait until they are 18, and can choose for themselves. It's your life, live it!

I am quite open and honest. When a friend hooked in last year (he's ok now, thank God), I called my family, just to let them know I was ok. I didn't tell them about the accident right then, but I felt better calling them.
At Rantoul, I knew my wife was watching the web cam, and reading the message board the entire time I was there, so after I found out about each of the accidents, I called right away to let her know I was fine.
Goes along way to keeping the harmony at home. It's your life, live it!

I used all of my high school graduation money and had been saving money for months.
Hey Beau! How's things down at SEMO? I get an email from Jerry once in a while. Good to see he's doing well. Planning a trip down there mid January or so......Let's jump?
My rig....Was driving over the road. Took about 200 a week in payroll advances to live on. Yes, it costs this much to survive on the road, truckstops are expensive. Well, I eat 1 small meal a day, and put the rest aside. Kept looking in the classifieds here on dropzone.com, and put together a rig piece by piece. Flys great! Now, in a week or so, it goes up on ebay to the highest bidder. It's your life, live it!

Rob,
Only you can get yourself back in the air. Everyone has doubting times. I did for almost 2 years. I think those 2 years were the best I could have done for my jumping. I came back focused, and re-discovered my love for this sport. What you saw, in fact both of what you saw, is probably sitting in the back of your mind. You can't really call it your subconcious, as it is you that brought it up. Go ahead, take some time off. The sport will wait for you. If you push yourself when you may not be ready, you may not be here to wait for the sport.
As you know, the least amount of indecision or hesitation in this sport can easily be the last decision or pause you ever make, especially with the canopy you fly. Take your time. Come back when YOU are ready. Be it a week, a month, a year, or never, at least it will be your decision.
Think about it bud. I like doing weddings. I don't wish to be needed for the other end of the spectrum any time soon. It's your life, live it!

Some people even post, read, and enjoy both dz.com and the wreak. I post at both under the same name. I have met a few great people from both places. Peanut was my last instructor (the one who signed off my "A". This is the reason he calls me his baby. I was his first graduate.) I encourage at least lurking over there. There are a few really great people. It would surprise you who those great people were. (for example, Treetop). It's your life, live it!

6 Awsome Jumps at the Harvest Moon Boogie
6 Cases? I give up. I'm sure you brothers there can find a reason to call me on each jump, so I'll stick by the rule of 1 case/jump.
Quatorze, Awsome to meet ya man! JT, dude, you are STRANGE, but cool too!! Lewmonst, babe, you rock! Cajones, good to see you again my brother! I'm sure I forgot many, but hey, I was DRUNK! (But I DID make 1st load Sunday!)
Edited to add: I crossed the 1 hour of freefall there too! I tried to break 100, but ended up with 96. (Fuckin' CASA pilots with attitudes!)It's your life, live it!

Some may argue with this, but beer is not really owed for the first jump. When you graduate is generally when the responsibilities begin. :)
If you were to come to your dz with a keg, though...I have a funny feeling they would love you forever.
:)

Yea, the DZ I started at didn't call beer for the first jump either. It was pretty cool though, the first hop n pop was FREE, but you had to buy beer! It's your life, live it!

If you want some racy movies with Jolie, ya gotta watch Gia, good flick, lotsa nekkidness and for the true winner of any contest, Ms. I started out playing gap toothed Sam on Who's the Boss Alyssa Milano. And for really racy stuff with her, which she selectively forgets in all her interviews, rent Embrace of the Vampire, she tries to get freaky with another chick.... Helllloooo Nurse!
Yep! I had the biggest crush on her as "Sam". Watched her grow up, along with me, and then that movie! Heaven! It's your life, live it!
