May be we should pick a DZ for a Dads and Daughters weekend. Pick a small Family oriented Cessna DZ somewhere and put together some activities for them to meet and then complain about us.;)

Call it the Beautiful Girls with Ugly Skydiving Dads weekend.:D

That would actually be very cool. We'd have to get Bozarth to come out of retirement for that one.

Actually she does come out to the DZ every once in a while. She learned to pack a couple years ago but I decided that I didnt want her hanging out at the DZ. Too many people liked to see how far they could push me.

I hear ya. That's kinda why I haven't brought her. They weren't like that before, but she was 11 or 12, and not, um, developing. I have a feeling things might be a bit tougher now.

    Quote

Than take her with you on the plane. That is what I did. See attachment. This was just last year sometime. Amazing how fast they grow.

We have 2-182's. 1 wide, 1 narrow. Needless to say, they are pretty much always full. Makes that a bit harder to do. She originally wanted to jump. Now she wants to fly so I can jump. ;)

.......so,......anyone else here no longer put ANY credence whatsoever in the science of Genetics?

My ex admitted years ago that she picked me out when we were younger because "we would make beautiful children." (her quote). She was right, we did. One son that's the object of many high school girls' affections. He's 17.

Too bad those same genes meant we were destined to never get along. :S

    Saaaaaaay what!?!?!?!

I pay about $25 for myself, simple cut w/tip. Atcost cutters. We need a salon like yours up here. My daughter is going to bankrupt me!

  11. Wow, Jay. Lovely daughter. I, like some others here, wouldn't have thought you old enough for a Sophmore aged daughter!

Also, really, I can understand why you've kept her a well guarded secret. Never brought her to the DZ either, did ya? I totally understand. A few years ago I brought my oldest daughter Kortney to the DZ up here, and she fit in really well.

She's about to turn 14 now. It's much harder to bring her along, as I'd be afraid to get on the plane and leave her on the ground. Not alone, mind you, but Without Me...

Does that price include Racers? B|;)

I'm not disagreeing with you at all. It probably was a bit steep to ask for that much off, but it certainly wasn't an ethics problem.

  13. I used to own a custom car stereo install shop. I saw vanity tags (fakes) advertised in a car audio magazine that read "EARGASM" from Florida. I thought what the hell, I'll try. Wisconsin gave them to me. Still have 'em too.

If it's the same down there as up here, you don't need to wait until your tags are due. You can order any time. The new plates have the same month/year expiration as the old ones. Up here at least.

    AIRGASM?

It certainly hasn'tbeen easy, and many, MANY times I've wanted out, we we've worked through it. Pretty much by morphing into an "open" relationship. ;):)

I think that a salad is more than a BigMac because salad ingredients dont have a long shelf life and a BigMac is like a Twinkie, you can put it in jar and 10 yrs later it looks the same!:P

Actually, yes, this is a good point: You can freeze hamburger meat & keep it frozen for a long time.

Salad ingredients, on the other hand, must be fresh & have a much more limited shelf life.

This is exactly correct, up to a point.

I drive for a major corporation delivering food from a distribution center in WI to a supermarket chain in MN, usually. My shift, which starts at 10pm or midnight, depending on the day, is what we call a perishable run. I am almost always hauling produce, but on occasion will have a load of meat, frozen, and/or dairy. These stores get a load of m-f-d anywhere from 2 to 4 times a week, depending on volume and current sales. These same stores get a truck with produce every day! These may be light loads. I usually have 2 to 4 stops for a load. The reason is the extremely limited shelf life. Standard groceries, frozen, and to some extent, meat and dairy, can sit and wait to be sold. Produce has to hit the shelf a very, very short time after being picked or it's going to go bad. Considering that this time of year much of the produce we consume cannot be grown here (it IS winter, after all), it is shipped from (again, mostly) South America. Knowing the limited shelf life, and astronomical transportation costs, the answer to why salads are expensive should be obvious. Of course, if we changed our eating habits to seasonable vegetables, this price would come down but this is America. We know what we want and despite the season, we are willing to pay to get it.

what about local runs. Not cross country. Is the money less for those kind of jobs?

It really depends on the location, and jobs you might qualify for. I ran otr for about 10 years with about a mil miles too. I made good money. I also drive local. When I had the nightly run, the cash was so so, so I took an otr position with the same company. Ended up driving 134,000 miles that year, for around 60g's, and only worked one saturday the entire year.

I have (ok, had, until recently) a spotless record, but still had a very difficult time getting into the job I have now. I work 3-4 nights a week, and make what I was making m-f, but now I'm home every day. This new job is a Teamsters union job.
