  1. Eli was one of the biggest influences to many in skydiving. I used to watch the flyboy's routine daily when I started. His style still inspires me to this day. A true pioneer, you will be missed. Gile
  2. Held as planned on Saturday the 25th at Skydive Oregon, the northwest’s second CPC meet was a success. After waking up to a few rain drops coming into my tent, we held the competitors briefing as planned at 8:15 and also as planned had to wait for the low clouds to clear. Fortunately at approximately 12:00 the ceiling burst open and we were well underway starting with zone accuracy. Calm winds helped the event run smoothly, with no winds for accuracy, but slight down winds for distance, and a slightly stronger downwind for some intense speed carving rounds at the end of the day. The meet went off with no serious injuries except for two minor incidences, one involving a reoccurring dislocated shoulder after an uneventful turn and swoop but a trip on the last few steps of the competitors run out, and another competitor catching a knee in the water which turned into quite a few other body parts coming in contact with the pond. Fortunately he only got the wind knocked out of him but choose to sit out for the rest of the comp, and the other jumper realigned his shoulder and after a short recovery period he finished the last two speed rounds successfully. The competitions final results are: 1st Tom Phillips Xaos 27cell 118 2nd Brad Gorman Velocity 90 3rd Stu Shoenfold VX 84 4th Bryan Gile VX 79 5th Dan Self Velocity 120 All of us here in the northwest would like to take the opportunity to thank the sponsors that kicked down some great prizes to help support these events. Velocity Sports Performance Designs Hop n Pop Productions Alti 2 Body Sport USA jumpsuits Opening Shock Skydive Oregon And a special thanks to all our judges! Remember everybody, next meet is at Skydive Snohomish, July 16th and 17th. And you can all expect some more great prizes... Train hard and swoop safe. Gile and studly Stu
  3. Stu you freakin rock man, nice video again. To all u swoopers out there come play with us when the weather gets good again. Hop n Pop all u want cause its $6 to 3k, $7 to 4k, and $8 to 5k. If u put $100 down on our books in advance, if not then only a dollar more. Gile
  4. Stu thanks for the props man. Loved your comp. so much, competeing again is one of the only things on my mind right now. Dude, you rocked your swoops too and put on one hell of a fun time. Can't wait till u get that VX man. Adam leifer has a 79vx for less than 700 that I might think about taking a look at. C U friday man. Giles
  5. Tight, see u then jeff. Oh and all the swoopers that are supposed to be working should come down. Joe can't fire everybody. Urbans gonna freak out on saturday when none of his staff is working, but he knows he can't fire us all.
  6. Don't u mean PD sent me some great stuff Gotta give u props for settin this up Stu, u da man!
  7. speaking of the cats eyes instead of the regular loops. They need to be made much smaller. I bought a xaos 27 with those enormous "catseyes" and almost had mal because of it. The metal part of my toggle went through the eye and I couldnt get it out. Fortunately i was able to land my canopy on one rear and the other toggle. But this problem could happen again for other people
  8. Thanks for everybody's opinions. Hopefully I'll be seeing you guys at the christmas boogie, 29-30th. Just look for the really young freeflyer with a yellow xaos. Blue skies. Bryan
  9. A question for all the really experienced canopy pilots out there. What are you opinions on starting your hookturn in full flight or using a more braked approach. Assuming that all variables are the same. This question is especially for VX or Xaos 27 cell pilots. Basically I just want to know if the trade off of lighter riser pressure is worth the slower initial speed.
  10. Time for the young guy to step in. First of all, I'd just like to say I don't think this is a horrible idea, but I did vote no. I've never seen anyone seriously injured, but have seen a few skips and bounced myself once. (our dz has soft dirt) The part about taking a CANOPY CONTROL COURSE is the best idea ever. I wish I tookone and I will as soon as I can. More importantly we all need to get over our egos and tell each other when we see dangerous things. I learned how to swoop the hard way but a few times fellow jumpers told me they were scared shitless watching me swoop. I learned a lot from them. (try to count how many times you've said, "that guy is gonna hurt himself" and not told him. Not to mention did everyone consider the wind. If your dz is windy all the time, having a lightly loaded canopy might be a little unreasonable. Gile
  11. god damit Dusty, this is Giles. get to creswell. p.s. thanks for the coach jumps, there payin off
  12. BREATHING!!!!!!!! the only way to start a free fly dive is with deep breaths during the count. not only you, but everybody. also i feel that for the count to breath while you have your hands go, up down, and then go out in out. but that may be to long for some people, so do what ever. but only breathing isn't going to make your head down. listen to these other dudes.
  13. i agree completely. either launch the headdown or do a cartwheel. if you do a flip and don't complete the 180% then your now in a bad situation, but not as bad as the person who is right in front of you.
  14. the only way I will start a free fly jump is by breathing deep during the count. instead of going out in out. I breath with the other jumper/s while going up down, then out in out. it's makes for the perfect exits.
  15. good work gentlemen... although myself being a packer i suggest you store that five extra feet of line inside the D bag. it makes everything much more neat. So what if I've flipped through my risers....
