  1. I wish I was going. Blew all my vacay time on the Puerto Rico boogie earlier this year. Chicks Rock is on my calendar next year for sure. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  2. Probably should have tipped the weatherman. Damn straight! Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  3. +1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If the gov't is going to throw money around, then I'd rather see it on investments that will eventually help us out in the long run. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  4. Isn't that what bush was trying to do with all the money and stimulus stuff he was dishing out before his term was done? It's the same t hing... Obama just picked it up and finished it. I didn't like it when Bush was doing it, and I wasn't a huge fan when Obama, which whom I support, picked it up and finsihed she job. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  5. Thats a huge assumption all together, but on a smaller scale to assume that it's for some "unknown reason," is a little rediculous. There are plenty of reasons. I know as young as sixth or seventh grade I was not reciting the pledge because I was an agnostic and I envoked my right to not recite a pledge that included a god I did not believe in. Thats just for me personally, and I am sure there are many other's in those shoes. It didn't mean I wasn't patriotic, it just meant I was steadfast in what I believed spiritually and religiously. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  6. It is such a shame that the dems would scoff at that representation though. AND STILL defend their messiah. I'd rather defend the guy who is spending money on investments this country should be making (EG, healthcare, education, etc) rather than blowing it on an unnecessary war. Right now I still think time needs to be spent to give the guy a chance and see where he's going with all of this, and then I'll pass judgment. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  7. Wanted to go when I was about 13 or 14 and was told I had to be 18. I skipped school on my 18th birthday to make my first tandem and never looked back. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  8. All my girlfriends (and me) just tend to do the same thing. Keep some handy at your own place, and if you end up at his hopefully he has his own there. If you find that a quick run to the store is needed to pick some up, then figure it out. Go dutch, or have somebody pick them up and the next person get them the next time. I dunno... I never really thought about it I guess. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  9. In my case, measuring must obviously be hard enough because last year I ordered a suit, and a new container-- both measured right there at the companies shops/factories by employees, and both are wrong. Either I have really bad luck, or a really weird body type. The suit I just got a refund on after the second make of the suit was even worse off, and the container is getting shipped back to the manufacturer sometime this week to be refitted in the harness and to have the laterals taken in. Hopefully everything will fit eventually! Anyway... the moral of my story is don't even trust the manufacturer. Don't even trust just your rigger or the person working the gear shop. If you get it done by the manufacturer have your rigger double check everything, and if done by your rigger have your manufacturer check everything and vice versa. Never hurts to ask around or have as many people as you need give input on what your submitting for your order before you actually submit it. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... Local news?

I think there'd be more compassion if she stole a smaller amount, like $1000 so she could keep a roof over her head during a hard month. But $150,000? Sorry, no compassion from me either, she's just a thief at that point. Exactly right. I have no compassion for somebody who had a roof over her head and working for somebody like TK who knows how to treat employees and customers right. I have no compassion for somebody who doesn't need the money to live off of and instead goes out and buys new cars for theirself and others, plasma TV's for theirself and others, etc. It doesn't make it any less wrong to take money to have a roof over your head and buy basic groceries, but it sure does effect the amount of compassion I have for a person in this situation. I'm so sorry for everybody involved back at the hills. I sure hope she gets what's coming to her and that Zhills can recover from the loss. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... 13. My 24 hour day is just about to end. Getting off of work at 1030z. AAAhhhh.... can't wait! Drinking the last sip of coffee and then I am outta here for some much needed sleep!!! Good' night all!! Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  14. What kind of RX do you have? I just got an Ambien RX today because I work a rotating shift schedule and have trouble setting my schedule back from my mids to my A.M shifts. I hear its good stuff. Is that what you have? Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  15. NNNIIIIICCCEEEE!!! If you have to choose a place to drink, I guess New Orleans isn't a bad deal! (PS-- I'll drink anywhere that doesn't serve Texas' favorite beer. I'm sick of this Budweiser shit here!) Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  16. You and I can both go for a drink together. On my mid shifts like tonight it's usually a 24 hour day for me. I pump the coffee and energy drinks all night to keep me going, and then when I get home at 6am I need to drink a glass of wine or a beer to calm down and go to bed. I'm guessing that it's not good to pump your body with uppers and then crash them with downers so you can sleep. Doh! Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  17. wow... you're up super early, Bry!!! I got my brew in hand, but I have moved on to the energy drink to finish my shift out. Speaking of brew-- I got one of the new Keurig's, and holy shit is that thing f'n fantastic!!!!!!! If anybody has ever thought about getting one of those, it's worth EVERY penny! Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  18. BINGO!!! Skydiving is NOT like other college sports. I really see no reason why grad students can not be included in this. Even as an undergrad I thought the same exact thing, so I am not just thinking this as the poor grad student who isn't allowed to compete now. It's just a young group of people getting together, both grad and undergrad, and experiencing friendly competition in an enviroment that is a lot less intimidating as actual nationals where people have thousands of jumps. Heck, from what I've see with the USPA trying to get more college aged students involved in the sport (with the recent dwindle in numbers for that age group over the years), you'd think they would be begging the grad students to get involved instead of turning them away. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  19. What hospital were you going to? I've been to two hospitals in two different states and once they found out I didn't have insurance, I got taken in for xrays, and left in a hallway and only got talked to by a nurse. Never saw a doc, and never got to look at my xrays or get into a bed. But the kid next to me who also was getting arm xrays had insurance and got the full work up and royal treatment; got transferred right into a room and taken care of... even offered food as soon as they got him settled into the bed area. I was 12, and twisted my elbow skating, and I'll never forget my mother crying that day when we saw a kid the same age, with a similar injury and treatment needed, right next to me getting royal treatment when I couldn't even get a doc to come talk to me in the hallway. Then we had to go down and argue with the charity care people, who didn't end up covering anything anyway. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  20. Have you ever lived without insurance? Not everybody is created equal in this world and unfortunately there are some folks who work at the local diner, or bag groceries at the local store, and make minimum wage in a job that offers no health coverage and only pays enough to cover their daily living expenses and bills. A lot of these people are good people who are just trying to hold their head above water... they're not going out and boozing it, or blowing their money on fancy things. (though I am sure there are those types out there who make enough money to pay for their own insurance yet choose to blow it on a new car or clothes.) If everybody had the brains to become PHd's, or just get a degree in something, then the world would be totally screwed. My parents were not the ivy league educated go to school type, so they worked in resturaunts, at local stores, or whatever they could to provide for us with the skills and knowledge that they had, which meant a lot of the jobs they worked were minimum wage with no health insurance. I didn't have health insurance until I took my first job out of college when I was 23 years old. Take my situation I just explained. Why does any child deserve to not be cared for if their parents do the best they can and do not have health insurance? I grew up not being able to go to a hospital unless I thought I was going to die, or if you're sick you wait it out to make sure its an infection you can't get rid of without antibiotics. I just get the feeling that some of the people on the republican high horse fighting against this health plan like to paint a picture that all of these people who would benefit from the program are a bunch of no good wellfare, white trash, money grubbing, low life bums that have nothing better to do than life off the man above them on the totum pole. Beacause my parents couldn't provide health care insurance for us you have basically said they didn't have pride in themselves or taking care of their own. I beg to differ, sir... my mother worked harder in her life and worried more in her life for her kids than I will ever have to work or worry sitting in my little comfy cube with my fancy masters degree and cozy job. It is just the way it is. Not every single person has the mental or intellectual ability to go off and get a higher education so they can get some big fancy paying job and good health insurance. If that were the case, the world would crumble because we wouldn't have anybody to serve you coffee at your local diner, or clean up in that fancy office building you work in. It is the way it is and other governments have realized that and made a health care system to account for it. The U.S hasn't, and it's not big suprise. It's like we're always chasing a dime here and everything has to be a big money making machine (like the insurance companies). The OP's story that was posted was a perfect example of why this system works so well in other places. Most people share that author's opinion; at least most I know that live in other countries. Sure, you "take pride in yourself and your family" by being blessed enough to have gone to school, get a good job and a great insurance plan so you don't have to worry about these things, but it's not going to be like that for everybody unfortunately. So.. good for you and here's a pat on the back for going out and making it for yourself and making sure your family has good insurance. I've tried to do the same thing with my life because you have to in the U.S, but some people aren't going to be as lucky as you are I, and personally, I don't think children or newborns, like the ones in this story, should be punished for being dealt the cards of having a family that does not have insurance. You won't "get less," if these people are taken care of. Republicans are always running around screaming about how they are getting this and that taken from them. Do the Canadians feel like they are "getting less" because some of their taxes go towards health care? What about people in the UK? France? All over the world? I've never once heard somebody from any of these places complain that they feel they get so much less in terms of their health stuff, or life in general, because of the system they have in place. Sorry for the rant, but I had a few minutes today to get a bit off my chest out this whole thing. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  21. I find that being in a stable relationship means that you CAN say everything that comes to mind. I find that the only person I have that with is my fiance' and for the most part my mother... she's a really cool lady that I really can say anything to. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  22. No worries about that! To be fair, living in the Keys was enjoyable. Living in Deland was pleasant. Living in Daytona Beach was tolerable. It's Orlando that I can't stand. Edit to add: I do like and will miss the bike trails in and around Orlando. I'll second that!! I was very happy and could have spent the rest of my life in the Melbourne/Sebastian area where I lived for 5 years. But I spent 6 months after graduation in Orlando when I moved in with the other half, and compared the Houston it seems great now, but at the time compared to Melbourne I HATED it. I-drive and I-4 traffic sucks EVERYDAY. All the tourists in rental cars really pissed me off, and I had to deal with that a lot because I lived around the corner from Universal Studios. The best plus was the experience I had working at the tunnel and getting to know a bunch of great people there. I miss those guys BAD!!!! Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  23. I really miss living in FL. I cried like a baby when I was forced to take a job in Houston (the last place in the US I would ever live, probably. So, double killer!) because I couldn't find any weather openings after I graduated school in FL. I am originally from South Jersey just outside of Philly, but damn was I really happy in FL. Like... perfect could have spent the rest of my life right there in Brevard County on the beach. The things I miss most: -The beach -The nudie beach at Apollo/Playa Linda -Space Shuttle taking off in my back yard and sonic booms in the morning to wake me up. (but I'm biased... I am a space geek) -The interesting weather and summertime thunderstorms. -Laid back atmosphere. -Wearing flip flops all year round, even when it's "cold." -Wearing only a hoodie when it's "cold," and occasionally a heavy jacket at night in december/january. -Beautiful puffy clouds. -The wind tunnel -Zhills and Sebastian -SUSHI .... like, seriously. I've had sushi in a butt ton of places all over, and my fav. is still in Melbourne FL at Siam Orchid. -Free diving and canoeing the natural springs and rivers. -Surfing -Fishing off the beach or the pier or inlet. -The people and the vibe. (I knew I hated the "United States of Texas" and it's vibe before I even moved out here.) So... bottom line is that I miss FL with all my heart and hopefully I can score a job and move back one day.
  24. I'm in Houston.... don't even ask. Just got back from NJ, and I forgot two things that jogged backed to memory while back up there: -What rain looks like (almost crapped myself when I saw it rain while I was up there.) -And what it feels like to be under 100 degrees without 100% humidity. Felt nice to breathe again! Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
  25. Wasn't responding directly to you... just in general to the thread and your post was the last one I hit respon on. Sorry! I'm so used to forecasting for large airports all over the world, so most of the municipal airfields are 'pipsqueak' to me... even my own dz! Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
