  1. I have had the coaches watch my landings. And from what I can gather from a limited number of jumps and their advice is either I'm not flaring smoothly enough or stabbing the brakes. I've been taking up a different canopy several times one right after the other which may attribute to the inconsistencies. One was a Pilot 210 and the other a Fusion 190. I could definitely tell the difference in flare and how they landed but not quick enough to pull off the proper flare for that canopy which I'm sure comes with experience. Next time I'm out I will be sure to take a video.
  2. I have read a few articles on preferred shoes to wear but still am looking for an answer. So far I have jumped in a minimalist style shoe, a general running shoe, and a "skateboarding shoe". Had good and bad landings with each but almost every time I get a bone tingling sensation in my feet and this is landing on grass. Its almost as if I'm creating small stress fractures. Would this have anything to do with footwear? Or do I just need to focus more on proper flare?
  3. I'll have to check out Flysight, never heard of it. Either really, whether the phone records it and then you could upload it into google earth and see a 3D path of some sort. But with phones I could imagine they could do just as well. I've got an LG Incredible 3 and the GPS on it seems to always be within a few feet, not sure at high speeds how it'd do.
  4. Does anyone know of any good apps for android/iphone that can track your flight pattern and horizontal and vertical speeds? Also discuss any other good skydiving apps, or any apps in general.
  5. I understand what you mean. I don't remember the quote exactly or who said it, but it went something like, we are all anxious to get to the end of the path, the final result, but too little times do people enjoy the journey. So I definitely got you there, take my time, enjoy it, learn.
  6. They do offer coach jumps at the jumpers discretion. I'm sure they'd be more than happy to lay out some dive flows for me, but they don't have a formal progression past AFF is what I meant.
  7. I appreciate the advice. I have checked out the Cat F, G, and H, as well as the progression card which I have begun to fill out. The card definitely gives me a place to start. The DZ doesn't have a formalized progression after AFF that I'm aware of but I'm sure the instructors will help me out. I absolutely agree, master the basics.
  8. Not sure what discipline I would eventually like to go after. Of course they all seem like the right choice now, but I'm sure a year or two from now I'll know what path I'm headed along.
  9. I have one more jump to complete before I am cleared solo; and wanted to get a communities perspective on what types of maneuvers I should be working on once I'm cleared. I would think I should stick to the basics and my obvious weaknesses until I have full control, and confidence of my body movements? Does this sound accurate? Thanks
  10. I am currently at The Jumping Place (statesboro), closest place to me. December and still pretty warm out.
  11. Recently started AFF and can't get enough! I'm very committed and can't wait to learn everything and then some. This looks like a great site! -Zach
