  1. Started jumping a Safire 2 189 in 2002 and when I came back from my lay off I went with what I knew and bought another Safire 2 189. When I buy a new canopy it will be a Safire 2 169. After that perhaps a Crossfire 2 169 (if I ever decide I want to step in the the full elliptical world). "I once met three guys named pain, suffering and sacrafice. 2. Trouble no... Having to use input to stop a gear induced orbit yes.. See the pic in my previous reply... Fixed that and the rest is history... "I once met three guys named pain, suffering and sacrafice. Now were inseperable, were best friends." -Lance Armstrong
  3. The phantom side slide showed up on camera!!!! Yup I am a noob and need my momma to dress me Not sure how I didn't figure that out... ughhhhhh "I once met three guys named pain, suffering and sacrafice. Now were inseperable, were best friends." -Lance Armstrong
  4. Then the very next jump go out on a 15 way where dive to the base fine just fine... Flare and start to orbit Plenty of reference there... Baffled... Frustrated... "I once met three guys named pain, suffering and sacrafice. Now were inseperable, were best friends." -Lance Armstrong
  5. Thinking about it it has happened in my baggy/slow suit and my RW suit... Not ruling out a suit issue and I know its a bitch to diagnose without seeing it. I can't catch it on video... Its like taking your car to a mechanic and the noise you hear isn't there for them to hear Rig sitting off center a possible cause? Pissing me off I can't figure it out!!! "I once met three guys named pain, suffering and sacrafice. Now were inseperable, were best friends." -Lance Armstrong
  6. No video of the issue... Went up with a coach TWICE and it didn't manifest itself. It is truly totally random.. "I once met three guys named pain, suffering and sacrafice. Now were inseperable, were best friends." -Lance Armstrong
  7. I searched and can't find an answer... I have developed the oddest problem... Random side sliding/orbit to the left. It isn't present on all jumps but every 3rd or 4th I will be sliding left and have to use input to correct. Which is awkward.... The only thing that has changed as I was a BGT in Elsinore and shown to put my rig on hike it up on my back. Then tighten down the chest strap so my rig sits higher. After that tighten my leg straps. I was also told I wasn't tightening the leg straps enough. So now I crank them down pretty good. Can one strap tighter than the other cause a side slide? WTF is going on? What other things should I be looking at? I know how to set a neutral position... Tried toe taps, squaring shoulders, flips to resettle neutral, all kinds of stuff but since it is "random" I am having a tough time figuring it out. HELP!!! 8. Some of the skydives I have been on very closely resembled MMA Who knows what ya get when it goes "zoo" dive... "I once met three guys named pain, suffering and sacrafice. Now were inseperable, were best friends." -Lance Armstrong
  9. I wear a spandex type short and T-Shirt... They are actually triathlon short and keep the boys in the barn so to speak. They are also designed to shed moisture so they are comfortable on really hot days. A company 2XU makes some reasonably priced and durable compression shorts which are what I use... 10. I am probably a little late to the party but I don't suppose you had Time Machine configured on the Mac? "I once met three guys named pain, suffering and sacrafice. Now were inseperable, were best friends." -Lance Armstrong
  11. Dad was prior military.. Not necessarily "creative" but the forward leaning rest (push up position), 8 count body builders, 4 count flutter kicks and other endless hours of "PT" usually got the point across and served me well when I joined up :^) "I once met three guys named pain, suffering and sacrafice. Now were inseperable, were best friends." -Lance Armstrong
  12. Racing MX and must have clicked down in to first gear on the bike in a turn to set up for about an 85 foot triple... Typically came off the table top in to the turn before it in 3rd clicked down to 2nd, pinned it out of the corner and shifted back in to 3rd to make the triple! It was a really short run up and I remember thinking as I left the lip of the jump... "Oh shit this is gonna hurt" and bailed off the bike about 25 feet in the air because I didnt want to slam in to the back side of the landing ON the bike. Broke both arms, tib/fib, hip and pelvis... I was right... IT HURT!!! "I once met three guys named pain, suffering and sacrafice. Now were inseperable, were best friends." -Lance Armstrong
  13. Tsunami is "B" license not sure when they changed the restriction from C but the website now also states B. Great locale and friendly people... SDSD is my old home DZ and all around great place. Though I haven't jumped there since Andy Whitcomb ( I think that was his last name) was the DZ manager. "If" you can spare the time Elsinore is definitely worth the drive north and and Perris ranks right up there too. I know you specified SD but there is a ton of great jumping to be had in the area. All four DZ's are so close I would check them all out if you have the time and or transport. "I once met three guys named pain, suffering and sacrafice. 14. If I did something incredibly stupid... Nope wasn't me :^)~ Otherwise yes that was me... "I once met three guys named pain, suffering and sacrafice. Now were inseperable, were best friends." -Lance Armstrong
  15. I took a long period off from the sport and was sort of lost as to where to go to get back in. Go back to my old DZ? Do some exploring? In the end I opted to explore there is a lot to see and do out there right? After a currency jump elsewhere. I took a canopy course at Elsinore which showed me just how much I didn't know that I didn't know. I followed that up with some more canopy coaching. Again, I was totally stoked about the quality and volume of information I received. Along with that I was guided in the purchase of my next canopy and I am both happy and confident I was given the right direction. Anyway, I wanted to take time to give a shout out to the folks at the DZ. Manifest is top notch... Thanks to the packers (Travis) whom were extremely busy and still managed to fit me in and keep me making loads for the course. Barry my canopy instructor... The dude rocks!!! The Square 1 staff (Sparkles) on the DZ for going out of the way to provide excellent customer service... Probably one of the best days I have ever had on a DZ!!! Blues... 16. I really do fluctuate 30 lbs... Sitting at 205 ATM and when I peak for a late spring Olympic I will be sitting at 170-175. At least that has been the case the last 4 years. Then seeing 205 again as we head back in to fall early winter. After spring I typically only "participate" in tri's so my training tapers off to near zero. I am nearly 44 so I only train to peak once a year. I suppose I could also opt to keep the weight off but I like food too much!!! "I once met three guys named pain, suffering and sacrafice. Now were inseperable, were best friends." -Lance Armstrong
  17. I just came back from a 6 year lay off. So I am sure I am going to get flamed for this. I swear I am not going to ask about going to a 2.0 WL though. I sold my old rig when I laid off and now with the wife's approval am about to order a new one. I know that based on the build time of what I am (thinking about) buying and heading in to triathlon season I will be loaded @ 1.15-.1.25 when it gets here. The problem is I typically race the spring then go back to being a fat ass in the summer. Depending on the rate at which I go back to shoveling food in my face I could be loaded at 1.4 3-5 months after the rig arrives. Yes, my weight can fluctuate up to 30 pounds depending on my race schedule. I will be on the lighter side when the rig arrives. I have taken a canopy course since returning and plan on doing hop and pops until my wallet bleeds while the rig is being built. What say you DZ.com? Is going from a 1.15 to possibly 1.4 during the course of 60-80 jumps just asking for trouble? I KNOW my wife isn't going to let me order two canopies in the next couple years. So I am trying to create a progression plan that accommodates my wallet and her wishes. Yes, I also realize the wallet is no reason to splatter myself all over the LZ because of a poor WL choice. 18. 145 bucks for the currency jump which included the jump ticket... I had to rent gear so toss in another 100 bucks. Should have never sold my rig!!!! Probably sounds pricy but for the service, level of attention and thoroughness I received it was money well spent. "I once met three guys named pain, suffering and sacrafice. Now were inseperable, were best friends." -Lance Armstrong
  19. Since you asked about Perris I will chime in here. I just got current after a 6 year lay off and not nearly your jump number. I also did it at Perris... It was about as simple as it gets. Scheduled a currency jump with the school. They put me with an instructor and we went through the basics, looked at the FJC pictures of assorted malfunctions. Talked about procedures and patterns. Did some drills in the hanging harness and demonstrated a PLF. All of which took about an hour and a half. On the jump we floated the exit and launched with her in the right side instructor slot. We weren't even down the hill she let go. Dive flow was a practice pull and the chase her around the sky. Wave off and pull @ 4500... In essence it was a really easier than I thought it would be... And Kudos to the folks at Perris... The run an awesome operation... My .02 "I once met three guys named pain, suffering and sacrafice. Now were inseperable, were best friends." -Lance Armstrong
