  1. We also have a dropzone in southern Spain www.skydivespain.com. The tickets could be valid there. However, its a competition for our centre at Target Skysports. Cheers, Simon
  2. As some of you are aware, a new website is being developed. In conjunction with this, we would like to announce a new competition to design a logo. A full brief can be found here: http://www.skydiving.co.uk/News.htm The winner gets 10 jump tickets (student or experienced), a t-shirt with the winning design on it and free Sunday roasts for a month. We are looking for something modern, punchy and visually reflective of the sport. Simon
  3. Pat Hammond is a highly experienced Canopy Formation coach and has issued many CF1's. During the Christmas Boogie at Skydive Spain, Pat will be running a course and has 6 spaces available. If you have your B license and 100 jumps you can attend. Included in the course is all technical instruction for the jumps, packing lessons and kit hire (which is for free). The cost of each jump is 2 slots + €10. To book your place, a £20 deposit is needed (UK office +44 113 250 5600). Let the dropzone know what licenses you already hold, any existing CF experience you have, your weight and total jump numbers. Pat will be at Skydive Spain from the 22nd December to 1st January and will be running courses for 6 days during this time. The latest addition to the lineup for the Skydive Spain Christmas Boogie is Herman Landsman. He is a big-way organiser and was involved in the 400-way world record this year. Herman will be available from the 16th December onwards for the duration of the boogie. Other organisers booked so far: Herman Landsman - FS Outbreak Freefly - FF Brian Vacher - Canopy & Swooping Simon Cathrine - FS Nils Predstrup - Freestyle / FF Pat Hammond - CRW www.skydivespain.com

  5. We need to get an opening event organised there with some of the tower officials. I am sure that through a "friend-of-a-friend-of-a-friend" we can find a connection; and in addition there are enough of us who have organised quality events to act as an envoy???

  10. I also met Peter at the Heliboogie. This is a real shame. He also had a very extensive knowledge of the more less known jumps in his area. Gutted.

    UK Crane boogie

Fantastic event - I hope there will be more of these to come!

    UK Crane boogie

    The basket reached to 285ft.
  14. Another few benefits of cutaways are: - if you are stuck in a tree and need to free urself. (Providing you can see a safeish route down). - escaping from high profile objects. For example, you run to your car with canopy in hand. Dump the canopy in the back, pull the cutaway and drive off quickly while still in harness. I have done this a few times.
  15. Single pin is good for beginners are there it is harder to make a rigging error associated with pin closure and the position of the bridle.

    Heli Boogie 2006

I had a great time also even if it was the rainiest! But the Vibeke and the team tried to get us up at every spare opportunity. Part on, Simon

    Virtus rigging

I like the idea of a low profile rig but I can think of a situation where u need to dump early and are not at terminal. What happens if you jump and go unstable and have to pitch early. You could also be knocked it were a 2-way jump, but maybe your only ever doing solos. Don't get me wrong, a super streamlined rig is the way to go, but all it takes is a dodgy exit or bad body position on dump and you could be in trouble.

    Fatality in Norway

Coomsey, I am gutted. You were a fantastic person. I will miss ur enthusiam, ur comedy short films and of course hanging out after a days jumping. Rest in preace, Simon
  19. Gutted. I met Gus at Deland several times. He was so safety concious. He made sure everyone around him used their belts on take-off. Such a sad loss.
  20. With much respect to Ken's family, I also vote no. It was a close call to being on the list, because he pulled his reserve as he was sliding down. However, his death was associated with the exiting from an airplane and not completing a landing on the top of the arch. However, he definately deserves to be on the list outside of the sport in the same light as my friend Neil Queminet. Meeker
  21. How much did you pay for it? Meeker

    Argentina...

There were a 4 or 5 skydivers from Argentina who came to do a first jump course in August 2003. 2 of them decided it was not for them, but the other 2 or 3 enjoyed it. I am not sure if they bought rigs or not. The people to speak to to make contact are Douggs, Elin or Stig. Cheers, Meeker

    BASE Magazine

I recently acquired some old skydiving books. One them mentioned a BASE magazine that Carl and Jean edited. Does anyone know anything about it? Were many issues made? Is there anything on the internet? Meeker
  24. Isn't there a chap who jumps at TF who did 650 jumps in one summer. He was in Norway for the Heli-boogie this summer and told me about this. He would get up at the sparrows fart of dawn and do 4 jumps every morning. Meeker
