  1. It does look like a Gargoyle to me. Lets tell Morpheus.
  2. So sorry to hear this. Another sad day.
  3. Jumping without a PC is not a wise idea. Yes you may trash the odd PC if you do enough jumps, however it could save your life. To say that if you a do a jump which is lower than freefall heights means you don't need a PC is wrong. You might sustain an injury even a bad one, however that PC may just extract enough of parachute for you to survive the jump.

    BASE Tattoo

Faber, Have you heard of the off-road tatto by Steve-O from Jackass? Maybe you could do the first tattoo in freefall. It might take a few jumps though
  5. On 21/22 April, Teams Fusion and Havoc will be at Hibaldstow providing FS Coaching. There is no coaching fee for this event. The aim is 4 Way but there is also facility/capacity for one on one, 3 ways etc and maybe a chance to have a crack at your FS1. Fusion & Havoc are both AAA teams with a strong history of success in the FS Scene and they provide top quality coaching. In addition, there will be an Hawaiian Party in the bar on the Saturday night to celebrate Clara Melia and Brian Cummins birthdays. Apparently Brian is 'of an age' on this one, so he'll be in bed by 11 but i'm sure everyone else will keep the party going. Clara has promised free cake to everyone who turns up 'dressed accordingly', we're also looking at organising some 'interesting' cocktails for the night too. A lie in on Sunday morning is encouraged for those who may develop a taste for the cocktails
  6. Well by the sounds of it, I have more chance of platting fog than doing the Eiger this time. I did the jump in 2003 in August. I think I will stick to some fun a little bit lower down.
  7. I am returning to the Mushroom in May and cannot remember the name of the guide. I think his name was something like Bernard or Helmut. Does anyone recommend a good guide and have contact details?
  8. Well done. Congratulations. How were the wingsuit bigways?
  9. Hi there, I work for Skydive Spain and Target Skysports (UK). Skydive Spain have their Spring Blow Out Boogie from the 24th March to the 15th April. We are now in the middle of the team training season so there is a lot more activity at the DZ. To put things in perspective, we have team Elan there at the moment doing 20 jumps a day!. We have several military expeditions training at the DZ soon and lots of teams preparing for training. So I think things will not be as quite as you might expect. If you really want to prepare well for your AFF course, you could try doing 20 minutes in a wind tunnel with one of their tunnel coaches. I recommend Bodyflight in Bedford, UK. Hope that helps, Simon
  10. Easter Weekend at Hib --------------------- As it's the start of the new season and to ease people back into jumping again, Skydive Hibaldstow are running the Easter weekend as a weekend of FREE coaching and organising for both Formation SKydiving, Free Flying and hybrid jumping! If you want to improve your 1-on-1 skills, get some tips for FS/FF groups, or try some hybrid jumps or tracking races then we'll have the coaches on hand for each. We would like to organise a weekend of both serious coaching and some good, fun, bigger-way skydives, so if you're not too hot with your freefly, tracking or FS skills then come and get some coaching and practice in for the new season! Coaches arranged already are: (with more to be confirmed) FS: - Simon Brentford (ex-4-way National Champion) - Lee Pugh (ex-8-way National Champion) - Karen Bain (FS Coach, current 4-way competitor) FF: - Rob Simpson (FF Coach, ex-Space freefly team, World Meet) - Darren Glover (FF Coach) This is a free event with no registration fee required. We're currently trying to arrange a few more coaches - watch this space! The bar will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday (Russ is back from Spain and can't wait to serve you all again!) and there will be a Happy Hour (or two!) and bar promotions each night...
  11. I am a UK jumper and my wife is Brazilian. I also work for a UK DZ so here is the truth. Many UK DZ's take jumpers trained in other countries. Since they cannot verify the quality of training abroad, most DZ's will want to do a check-out jump with you, see your documentation and see video. This applies to obvious new jumpers. If you have 2000 jumps, all they will want to see is your documentation. We recently training a Brit who learned in the Eastern block. They had passed their Level 8 AFF but no consoles. We did a couple of check-out jumps and he was fine. Hope that helps, Simon
  12. Not chuffing likely. You've got more chance of platting fog than either forming or encoring the a governing body.
  13. Well done Valery. Another amazing effort.
  14. I don't know is the honest answer. However the Radman has beeped in places where it I did not expect.
  15. It went to 100% bleeping fast and it was as soon as I got to the exit point out of a solid tube of the A. Urgh
  16. The Radman meter displays warnings at 12.5%, 25%, 50% and 100% of maximum power density permissible under EU and US regulations. It has a logging facility but you need another expensive machine to retrieve that information. My experience is that each tower is unique. Sometimes the device would not show anything on a freestander with loads of transmitters, dipoles, dishes etc on it. Other times, it would beep strongly once you climbed or walked into a certain zone. Each place is unique.
  17. BASE jumpers invest good money on equipment, FJC's and skydiving training. However, have you ever checked if you are wandering into radition hotspots on your local A? A couple of years I found a radiation meter used by professionals called a Radman. It can detect everything from low density power radition from power towers up to microwaves. It is callibrated to recognised safety limits and will beep / flash at you when you are in a hotspot. I have used mine successfully and I now kit up on some objects in a different place to reduce the exposure to a bare minimum. There is one on ebay now if you search for Radman. Has anyone else every bought one?

  19. Did I miss something or has the Apex Base website gone wrong. I am asked to configure a database (Access / SQL). I am diverted to here: http://www.apexbase.com/portal/setup.asp
  20. I think it has a great look and feel and some very useful features. I also like the fact that you can track the no of jumps on each pilot chute. HOWEVER and its a big one, the fundemental concept of having my logbook online scares me. It could fall into the wrong hands much easier than having a paper logbook at home or on your home computer. That being said, if it was possible to package this up to run on your computer with some sort of encryption on the database files then I think it would be great.
  21. Brian Vacher is running a canopy course at Target Skysports from the 2nd to 4th July. We have limited spaces. If you want to find out more follow the link: http://www.skydiving.co.uk/Experienced.htm#ExperiencedSFS Thanks, Simon

    Bodil Roland Heen.

I am so sorry to hear this. Did she ever write anything down about her experiences. If not, it would be lovely at some time in the future to hear from Arne about Bodil's life. Legends must not be forgotton.
  25. Hi there, I am of to Brazil soon and I could do with some topographical maps for the southern states of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina. They are for a Etrex Vista Cx (so I guess anything MapSource?) Does anyone have them please? Thanks Meeker
