  1. Why not just jump with an open-face helmet so that you won't have this problem?
  2. A little editting fixes that problem real quick. No more negative distraction.

  4. Here's a preview of the subject matter, so you can decide if you want to download it and look at it. Subject: Reserve lower steering lines and reserve toggles. Status: Mandatory (Inspection & Modification) Identification: All Decelerator reserves and Vortex 2 Rigs Background: Right reserve toggle locked after a cutaway procedure generating 2 rapid turns. April 13, 2012 (Gap, France) Origins : 1. Bartack sewing on the right lower steering line is too close to the brake set loop (5mm or 3/16" less than the left one) 2. Toggles nozzle are too soft, implying a nozzle narrowing.

  7. Your best response is...as is typical..."you're hurling insults"? It's insulting to you for me to point out the outrageousness of your extrapolation in response to my post? Yes, maybe I should really be more aware of your thin skin and the need for the touchy-feely approach. On the other hand, maybe it's a better idea for people to man-up when they screw up. I see you are in another one of your moods today. I pointed it out for the moderators, who are supposed to enforce the rules against insults. But naturally, they just promptly ignored it. I prefer that to responding in-kind by hurling insults back at you, which just makes things even uglier. And of course, your response when your insult was pointed out to you, was to hurl yet more insults. And the moderators I'm sure will ignore those too. We each have our own personal character. Mine is different from yours. You should work on learning to accept that, and to live within the rules here. I'm happy being known as a guy who doesn't go around insulting others. You're welcome to go the other route, if that's what makes you feel good, and if you're willing to live with having other people view you in that way. You don't find it odd that people who choose to conduct their conversations in a polite, civil manner, are branded as "pussies", "thin-skinned", "touchy-feely" and "moody", as if being polite is something bad? I guess Emily Post and Miss Manners must be the most horrid people on earth to you. And it's quite funny that you point out that your insult was in response to my "outrageous extrapolation", after your own suggestions included "shoot the mindless mobs". That's about as outrageous an extrapolation as you can get, and it certainly topped mine, which didn't come anywhere close to calling for genocide. You can be quite the source of amusement, and what makes it so funny is that you probably didn't even realize you were doing it. You should have just quit while you were ahead when you agreed with me that no action needs to be taken, other than to just let free speech and the free market work.
  8. Yes, yes, yes! BUT the problem as I see it is the 'Merican lemmings who will blindly take the hosts opinions as gospel. Meh, it relieves the burden of having to think for themselves. So? What do you propose to do about that problem? Sit back and watch the show and the lemmings? Shoot the mindless mobs? Start a pool on which lemming will believe the stupidest shit? Start up your own show on public access and create your own group of lemmings? Write Rush and ask him to tone it down? Got something else? Yeah, how about just accept it and let the free market work. It's not a perfect world, and you'll never be able to make those "lemmings" change their beliefs by restricting free speech. You'll only make things worse. So just learn to live with it. Lemmings exist on both sides of the political spectrum. You're hurling insults again... Maybe you should go join the wolves in that other thread where the wolf pack is in a feeding frenzy.
  9. You've been asking a lot of questions lately. That's good. But you'll gather far more info if you also learn to use the search feature: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=search_results&search_forum=all&search_string=Z1&search_type=AND&search_fields=sb&search_time=&search_user_username=&sb=score&mh=20
  10. Yes, yes, yes! BUT the problem as I see it is the 'Merican lemmings who will blindly take the hosts opinions as gospel. Meh, it relieves the burden of having to think for themselves. So? What do you propose to do about that problem? Shut down talk radio because some people don't think for themselves? If you start restricting free speech, you'll just make that problem worse. Keep it up and some day we'll have only the government to tell us what the truth is.

  12. Talk radio can be far more than just entertainment. It can give you news that you hadn't heard before. It gives you the arguments for and against subjects that you might not have thought of before. It makes you think. It makes you refine your own beliefs as you learn new perspectives.
  13. If you want help, perhaps you should give us some essential data, like how much you weigh.

  15. Welcome. Where did you jump? Let's see if skymama deletes this one...
  16. I'm not suggesting that silent acceptance is proper. But public humiliation is not. A basic management principle is to criticize in private, and praise in public. We should certainly let jumpers know if they're screwing up, but we should do that by taking them aside for a private talk, not by lambasting them in a public forum like this one. Sure, sometimes even private talks by different people still won't get the message across, but the same will be true of this public humiliation technique. Then you escalate from talking to grounding. And if they go to another DZ, that's their call. Nothing's perfect. If they kill themselves anyway, you've done all you could. But the lynch mob witch hunt that's going on here has gone too far. Someone who is a victim of this could be moved to resort to violence against the perpetrators for the unfair attack upon their reputation and character.
  17. First of all, there are intentional cut-aways from guys like test jumpers, who may have a lot of chops, but not so many malfunctions, and wearing an extra reserve on top of their regular gear. So I think what you're really asking is about actual unintentional, unplanned malfunction cut-aways. And then there's the ratio of cut-aways to jumps which is important. Someone with 5 cut-aways in 500 jumps is viewed differently from someone with 5 cut-aways in 5,000 jumps. And finally, I wouldn't call someone with the highest number of cut-aways, or the highest ratio of cut-aways to jumps, a "king". They might be doing something wrong with their packing, gear or techniques to cause that problem, making them the court jester instead. I would reserve the title of "king" for the person with the *lowest* ratio of cut-aways to jumps. That's the true king.
  18. I think this lynch mob witch hunt has gone far enough. Are we going to allow a bunch of vicious personal slander by participants here, based upon only guesswork and supposition, by people who don't even know the victim? Even using videos that are not of him to criticize him, and posting his personal facebook page! What's next? Posting his home address, credit report and photos of his family? Is that the kind of forum behavior we want here? Is that the kind of person you want to be known as? It reminds me of a bunch of high school bullies picking on a nerd. And just like the high school bullies, everyone is afraid to stand up to them. But not me. Beware, some day when YOU screw up, the attack wolves will come for you... Okay, I'm done now. Next I predict the bullies and wolves will respond by attacking ME for daring to question their methods, and by attempting to justify the validity of their bullying. Have at it. Show everyone how perfect you are, and how tough you can be.
  19. It seems like there should be daily or weekly inspections for cracks and loose nuts & bolts, just like they do with amusement park rides, so that problems can be detected and fixed before they become catastrophic. There should be an inspectioni checklist, and the employee who performs the inspection should sign it attesting that he's done the work and confirms everything is good to go.
  20. Whassup dawg! I'm from ST. I know whatcha mean about dub-step - I love dem dub-steppers! Clickity-clack-whack!
  21. If you're doing it right, you don't have any excess withheld from your paycheck. You do far better to tailor your withholding exemptions so that you keep more of your own money all year long, rather than let the government accumulate it and make you have to ask for it back at the end of the year.
  22. Well, since everyone here is claiming that they prefer the Senate do nothing, then they should be in favor of the Republicans blocking action. Or perhaps they prefer nothing only when Dems are responsible, but "nothing" becomes a bad thing when Repubs are responsible. Go figure.
