  1. They are not allowed to consider pre existing conditions. They are only allowed to base it on age and sex, although I thought I heard something about smoking. So there might be variations depending on those factors, but they cannot use the real risk factors. It would be like charging for car insurance only on age and sex, but not being able to consider make and model of car or past driving history. ***and why do I keep hearing such widely varying numbers? Because there ARE factors that are included. For one, each STATE gets to decide the rates. So the rate for a 20 year old non-smoker in California might be different than Nebraska. Cool, So everyone isn't covered at the same rate. Why did you say they were?
  2. Not really. And it still does not change the very basic concept that to make sure everyone is covered at the same rate.... The people who would normally have low rates (and those that normally would not even carry anything) will have to be made to carry something and will have to pay more than they did. ***The 20 some skydivers who died annually are basically noise in the claims paid column. Motorcyclists, which have the same annual risk, are much bigger. But then, so are drivers who drink, versus teetollers who ride the bus/cab. And yet when my wife sells a policy to a jumper they have two options: 1. Pay more. 2. Lie. Many policies have a two year window.... If anything happens after that two year window you are still covered. But this included in many cases suicides. Tell you what.... Just for fun, try to get life insurance and right after they give you a quote... Ask if it covers skydiving and see what happens. Your life experience up to this point has not covered this, maybe the only way you will learn is by doing. Try it and report back and let us know how things went. Everyone is covered at the same rate? What is the rate, and why do I keep hearing such widely varying numbers?
  3. He lost me when he said that insurance companies charge more for people who parachute, than they do for people who do not parachute. As an actual skydiver with insurance I know this is completely false. So he lost me after that. not completely false. I had a policy a few years ago that charged more for me than my 2 business partners because I am a skydiver. It was either that not be covered for a skydiving injury. It is a completely false statement. I am a skydiver, I am not charged more. It only takes ONE case to disprove absolute statements like the one he made. He could have made the statement in ways that wouldn't be false, that wasn't one of them.

  5. It wouldn't impact me at all as far as fast food goes. It does however not just affect the FF industry. Unless you are completely naive, you have to realize that it would be a blanket inflation move. FF jobs are not meant to be permanent positions with retirement. They are stepping stones onto something better. Instead of being so complacent, explore betterment. Government has a lot of self improvement benefits that could be used instead of the ones that are so easily acquired. See Wendy it really is quite simple. You are a rocket scientist, because thats what you wanted to be. These lazy fuckers just want to be fast food workers. If they just explored a little betterment they would be rocket scientists, make mad bank, and not suck the govt. teat......well at least not directly. NASA is pretty teat sucky... Now you finally get it. I know you are being sarcastic, but it does actually work that way if you really want it to. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
  6. You are absolutely right. You said that anyone could be like Wendy. A NASA rocket scientist. I bet there are almost as many of those as french fry makers too. You can replace Bill Gates with rocket scientists if it makes you feel better.
  7. I guess I heard a new use for vaping. Evidently its the act of using an e-cig, or.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ObgJ7elXcdo A much preferred use.....at least for me I thought we were going to have a bonding experience when I read the thread title ;[
  8. http://www.ijreview.com/2013/10/87474-yale-professors-surprising-discovery-tea-party-supporters-scientifically-literate/ This one is floating around in various forms. I find it entertaining. http://i.imgur.com/IIzQN.jpg 19 of the top 25 states (when ranked by % of people over 25 with a college degree) didn't vote red last time. 22 of the top 25 (when ranked by % of people over 25 with an advanced college degree) didn't vote red last time. Education does not seem to do the GOP any favors.
  9. Of course, I also had good parenting, good schooling, good health, reasonable looks, and reasonable intelligence. Without any of those, I probably would not have ended up in as good a position, even working really hard. Life's not always fair -- it can't be. But piling it up and making it even harder on people who already have it harder, simply because you're more comfortable with the people who have it easier, is not a just society. Wendy P. You worked hard for all that stuff Wendy. Don't sell yourself short. If good parenting, good schooling, good health, and reasonable intelligence were easy to come by everyone would have it. You had to work hard to be raised in an environment like that and get those genes. We also know, because it is shown widely in the United States, that people can start with nothing and become Bill Gates. Look how many Bill Gates there are, probably just as many as fry the french fries in America. Just get off your asses you lazy ass french fry makers, with just a bit of hard work you will make the Bill Gates' outsize the french fry makers.
  10. I am pretty sure they actually used that same line, or some derivation of it, on that recent Russel Brand clip that got posted. Ironic and sad all at once.
  11. As you know, I watch sick children suffer and die on a daily basis, to even suggest that this is due to their being sinful, or for the sins of another makes my head explode. How you manage to be an intelligent person and manage to still believe this I will never know. The day an Iraqi war veteran has their traumatically amputated legs grow back , due to the prayers of believers, is the day I'll become a believer. But we both know that's never going to happen. "How you manage to be an intelligent person and manage to still believe this I will never know." The 2 are not complementary, they are substitutes.

  13. " the White House supports a provision in the deal that strengthens verification measures for people getting subsidies under Obamacare, spokesman Jay Carney said.' They got a provision in there making you show the boil on your ass instead of just telling the doctor you had it....or something like that. Success!
  14. For each case. Of which there are (apparently) a lot of.
  15. You probably mean this simply as a statement of how adamantly you disagree with her stance on gun control. Maybe it's a way to "feel out the waters" where if you get some people to agree without really considering the statement too literally, you'll feel like you're in good company. Maybe you want people to feel compelled to defend her policies as though they're defending her life and in the process they'll say something stupid and you can jump their shit over it. You know what though, just... fucking... don't... okay? People read shit like that and think, "oh great, I guess single-issue-voting has devolved into single-issue-loss-of-humanity." and then that person stops listening to anyone who disagrees with her. I don't mean to suggest that speakers corner is supposed to be, or ever was, some intellectual nexus of political debate, but it doesn't have to be such a train wreck either. nice post shampoo. I doubt he will receive that message, but I thought it was pretty insightful.
  16. Rofl. Ghandi --- Hell. Lol. That shit was great. and Rofl @ "dont stand behind them so you dont unsettle them" lol.
  17. Schools in general have gone way crazy. Suspend kids for making paper cutout guns, or drawing a gun or some shit. Ban tag on the playground, saw that one recently. I doubt its political, like you said, its indicative of the level of stupidity parents and administrators are bringing to the table these days. Hasn't done shit to stop the crazies from blasting schools when they want to. Has done a lot to make the public school system even more fucked up than it already was.
  18. If Chris Christie ever actually did run for President, his obesity will be at least a minor issue. but his comments his views and his hugs won't be a minor issue. Don't worry, he won't run for president. He is way to sane to be put up as the Republican candidate. And he knows it. The dude sounds reasonable when you listen to him. How could RUSHMC vote for that?
  19. He can't help it. In a perfect world he would go and do some research, see how much he has been lied to and fooled, and open his eyes. In reality he will be the same as he always has been, small-minded and sad.
  20. This makes it appear as if you're defending the "left wingers" being referred to. That implies that you're ok with the "yeah, we did it, but they did too" defense. so are you ok with over-spending because it's been done before, or are you just mudslinging? Just pointing out his double standard. Administrations of both parties have increased the debt, and in the past 40 years only one (DEM) has significantly reduced the deficit. The debt ceiling was raised 18 times under Ronald Reagan alone. Yet somehow only left wingers receive blame from him. Civics test: Since the Constitution was ratified on June 21, 1788, how many years have there been with no federal debt? With no debt? I would guess 0, I doubt the USA has ever been in the black. With no deficit (increasing debt) ....Ill say.....15 Do we win prizes?
  21. Lol, always fun when you end up explaining the thread title to the OP. I agree, petting and then eating dolphins isn't cool. Neither is petting and then eating cows. But I love steak, so no more cow petting, just cow eating.

God you need to get out from under that rock. http://www.examiner.com/article/the-idea-that-recent-mass-shooters-are-mostly-registered-democrats-is-a-myth Feel free to not respond after being shown to be blatantly wrong. That is how you end most of your discussions with me.
  23. No no.... You are confused. The dog is the tool used by the racist cops. Just like the gun is the tool used by crazy ass right-wing nutbags to slaughter school kids.
  24. No, you are confused. This was overturned. Obamacare was enforced..(upheld but we can stick with your terminology)
  25. In this case, the victim had to wait for it to be dismissed. How many more times do you think she got raped waiting for it to be dismissed? http://creepingsharia.wordpress.com/2010/08/07/new-jersey-judge-rules-islamic-sharia-law-trumps-u-s-law/"Donnelly said she was surprised when Charles refused to issue a restraining order, adding that the only tipoffs that it might happen were questions he put to the husband’s imam when he testified in the case. The Appeals Court ruling notes, “The imam testified regarding Islamic law as it relates to sexual behavior. The imam confirmed that a wife must comply with her husband’s sexual demands, because the husband is prohibited from obtaining sexual satisfaction elsewhere." Yep, that was the first one I saw that completely contradicts what you say about it. The court clearly said the judge was wrong in his decision. Maybe in your world one judge being a retard translates to a nation of Sharia law......but that is only in your world.
