Yes, sometimes it is nice to step back from the macro, and get into the details on a personal level. That is why I detailed my experience with the ACA so far, and how it has/hasn't affected me. It is too bad you can't engage in simple dialogue. If you could simply articulate your coverage and premiums, and how those are changing, we could stop and clearly compare on a micro level what is happening. Then we could step back and try to apply that to the macro side. Give it a try.

My coverage cannot change, unless I change it. Policies in place before 2010 that meet the minimum standards of coverage (of which mine qualifies) are grandfathered into the ACA....at least according to the phone call and letter from BCBS. I don't know what the cost will be. You could probably extrapolate it based on the 2007-2013 numbers though. I guess I lucked out by being responsible and carrying health insurance as an adult. Never used the shit but hey, I don't have to get on that website you guys are all freaking out about.

I have the same Dr and a cheaper plan. But you are among the most privileged and own a plane That is what the left elite do, they take care of themselves first And you are among the execptions there are a couple of states where the rates are going down. But those states had regulations that drove prices up over the country averages Ironic huh...... What is your coverage and premium changing to RUSH? My coverage didn't change, my doctors didn't change, my policy didn't change. My premium rose, but no more than it has been rising each year since 2007 when I purchased the policy. I am with BCBS, have a $1,000 in network deductible, $0 copay on doctor/ER visits, drug copay is $30-$75 depending on brand etc. Cost is now ~$260/month for myself. Cost in 2007 was ~$150/month. I am single, 29 years old, white male, non-smoker. Though I don't believe I indicated any of that when I originally bought the policy in 2007. What about you?
  4. Well the story plays out a lot more like 2 drunken idiots at a party get in a shootout. That isn't super unusual.... They threw the dude outta the party, he comes back all angry with a gun. Starts a scene outside, starts shooting the gun off and pointing it at people....gets shot. (Never shot anyone, just acted like a drunken asshole....and had access to a gun) a BIT different than some people watching the Batman movie when a dude walks in with a bunch of guns and starts blasting everyone. or a kid walks into a kindergarten class and starts blasting everyone.... just a BIT different.
  5. "Ringhardt told investigators was carrying the handgun because she was afraid to be home alone. The pistol was apparently left on a coffee table in the living room when she took a nap." Nothing like some healthy irrational fear to get toddlers killed. Score one for the good guys. Stupid ass, allowed to have a gun, allowed to have a gun around kids, allowed to sleep with a gun loose around kids. Yep, sounds pretty Texas to me. Hey, at least she took the shot kid to the GRANDPARENTS HOUSE for help, you know, instead of calling 911.

Dont hijack RUSH's thread. Make you own name 5 thread. This was the name 1 thread.
  7. One day your posts will have enough merit you can quote the entire context you are replying too. One day...
  8. I find it difficult to see HOW that happened. I find it interesting that organs were replaced with newspaper . . . how much did they get selling them? Ummm...unless I am completely off base....they take the organs during the autopsy to test them for various chemicals, toxins, etc. In hopes of determining cause of death..... Not unusual practice...admittedly I am not a medical examiner. EtA: I find it odd that the kid just slipped in the mat and suffocated as well. But there is video coverage of the gym, and surrounding areas, and the cops saw the video and said they didn't suspect foul play. I have been reading this story for awhile now but it has always seemed like just some pissed off, sad parents who want someone to blame.

given the number of promises (lies), it is a very short list so far Thankfully, you only asked for one. Not a "long list".
  10. What sounds fishy? "Lowndes County sheriff’s investigators believe that Kendrick Johnson, 17, fell headfirst into an upright mat and became trapped." That sounds suspicious to you just on its merits?
  11. So you are for mandated 'birthing classes' for only women? Makes sense. Everyone knows it is only women who contribute to a baby getting made....at any age. So yes, government should mandate girls take these classes you describe, and boys are exempt. Amen.
  12. http://edition.cnn.com/2013/10/22/world/asia/china-smog-lingers/index.html?hpt=hp_t3 Hell yea! All the EPA does is strap profit stripping regulations on JOB CREATORS in this nation. Right?
  13. "Judge Friedman said Tuesday that he will rule on the merits of the case by February 15. By then the Obamacare law will be in full swing, nearing the end of its open enrollment period and providing health care services to Americans who sign up for coverage by December 15. Kazman said his organization would 'take an immediate appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals' in order to get a re-hearing on the motion for an injunction to stop the clock on Obamacare while the larger legal issues are worked out." "Kazman is general counsel for the Competitive Enterprise Institute, a free-market think tank that is coordinating the case." Took them quite awhile to think this thing up, why did they wait so long? Gonna be over and done with months before the judge even rules on anything.
  14. You are correct. He dumbed the statement down for the masses, and he shouldn't have. He should have said, "If you like your doctor, and your company keeps the same coverage they had, and that coverage meets the MINIMUM coverage we think everyone should have, you can keep them. Additionally, if you already carry health insurance that meets the minimum standards set forth, then you can keep your current plan if you so desire. Otherwise, you will have to meet the same standards as everyone else, which may include changing plans, and/or doctors if you currently do not meet the appropriate level of coverage."
  15. I presume they elected not to build one. In VA, their website is nothing more than a placemat that redirects to the FED website. Not sure if VA's website constitutes an exchange. Like I said before, exchanges hardly work, especially in this case as IRS, HHS databases need to talk to each other. The Insurance firms are complaining. Use of a Canadian firm for software using decade old technology when US firms using RUBY might have been better. The republicans really screwed up on this one, as they should have simply kept their mouths shut about defunding Obamacare and let it fail on its own account. The people who are attempting to get insurance are the lowest of the low with multiple chronic illnesses. Which will undoubtedly increase the cost to healthcare across the board. Amen, kill off the sick ones, that makes insurance cheaper for everyone healthy. Oh and make sure to get cash up front, no more of this "oh you are dying, I guess we have to save you" crap. Prepay, just like gas. "also questions whether federal officials can impose an employer mandate and a tax penalty on state and local government. " SPOILER ALERT: yes, they can.
  16. Amen, dude is probably a liberal.
  17. The sad reality is your friend is just looking for the government to give him a hand-out. Tell him to get off his lazy ass and find the car himself! Stop relying on the government entitlement system to do everything for him. This is what is wrong with America. Everyone expects helicopters to go search for their cars. If they just took some personal responsibility and did their own work, they could find their stolen cars. Your buddy just doesn't want it bad enough.
  18. Or, we could declare no guns are allowed in school.... Maybe put up a sign that says, "Gun free Zone", or something like that. We could also maybe make it a crime to carry a gun onto school grounds.... Ohhhhh we could also make it illegal to shoot someone!!!! Thats it, we have solved the problem!!! Make it illegal!!!! How does that address the lack of ego checking for children that is the root cause?
  19. Too long. Illegal to lie to Congress. Legal for Congress to lie. DOWN WITH OBAMA, MURICA' 2016! That's a bit shorter, lets keep working it.
  20. You should take a moment and read the posts above before hitting the post button. That is not at all my attitude. I think there are several other tools at the disposal of the Bryan PD that were not utilized, or even considered. ETA: Way to PTP as opposed to PTB, Bill - You have gotten so good at that over the years. Do you know for a fact the police did not radio the description, and direction of the car out when they stopped pursuing? Do you know for a fact that police department had a helicopter nearby and available to search for a stolen car?
  21. The issue is most certainly guns, and the lack of enough of them. Why weren't all the other kids armed? They could have shot the bad kid immediately. The solution is a simple one, arm children nationwide. That will check some egos.
  22. I am a watchmen. I warn, you decide. Since BHO won the budget battle I would think things will smooth out until the middle of January, 2014. We have had bikers, truckers and veterans descend on Washington. How much do you think BHO can handle? Amen Ron, I bet Obama was on his last leg when those vets knocked down those pedestrian barriers outside that monument. Probably got him 99% of the way to having the UN come in and take over.... I mean really, how much more could one man take!?!? Bikers, truckers, AND veterans?!?! At least it wasn't lions, tigers, and bears. OH MY!
  23. Because they are by STATE. Not a difficult concept. Same pool, same rates. I know your whole intent is to get into semantics. But it just shows the weakness of your position. So everyone in the same state has the same rates? No, they don't. My intent is to illustrate that your statement of "everyone being covered at the same rate" isn't accurate. In fact according to YOU, there are different rates by state, age, sex, and smoking. ......that isn't semantics.
