  1. Wait a sec.... swing a cat between your legs??? And what happens when that cat comes to? You just know it's gonna grab for anything it can reach. Brisco Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.
  2. Hi all - My son is currently in Europe and will be in Rome Italy Nov 2 - 5 and would like to log at least one jump there. Are there any DZ's that are open during the week there? Thanks! Brisco Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.
  3. how could you tell the difference marcus? you usually stumble over easy shit on the ground! (just kidding) thanks for the cool 2 way from 21k - had a blast! Brisco Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.
  4. Yup! Happened to me on my 7th and a few subsequent jumps. I was told to just delta or track a little when it happened. That worked well for me. Chances are your legs are not even. Try a couple of toe taps as soon as you exit and get stable. Brisco Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.
  5. My son and I started 2 years ago. He was 30, I was 52. And lemmee tell ya, there ain't nuthin' better than jumping with your kid! He lives in Florida and I live in North Carolina, so we only get together 3 or 4 times a year, but what a gas when it happens. Brisco Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.
  6. Thanks for the input. I know how it's -supposed- to work. I was asking for thoughts on why it acted the way it did - ONLY the 3.5k alarm going off while under canopy (canopy was opened at 13.5k minus 5 seconds) when it didn't log the jump at all and why it might have logged a jump from 5.6k when i pulled right off the step and was open by 4.9k. My freefall on that jump was nowhere near 6, 7 or 8 seconds. Proably less than 3 seconds. It has logged all other jumps and speeds with no problems. 7. Yeah, yeah, I know... I could e-mail L&B for an answer but its more fun posting here. Ok, so the other day my son and I do a hop'n'pop from 13.5k. I gave a count of 5 before tossing my pc and, as expected, my Pro Track didn't log the jump. I've got my altitudes set at 5k, 3.5k & 2.5k. Funny thing was that the Pro Track sounded the 3.5k alarm. A couple of weeks ago I did a h&p from 5.6k'. We initally rode the plane up to 8k, but some clouds rolled in over the dz and since we couldn't see the ground, we decended to about 4.5k My Pro Track sorta surprised me by going off at 5k during the decent. We ascended back to 5.6k and exited. I tossed the pc almost as soon as I left the step and the Pro Track logged this jump showing the exit of 5.6k and an opening at 4.9k So why do you think the Pro Track registered this jump? Because of the ride to a higher altitude first? The decent from 8k to 4.5k wasn't particularly fast, so I'm kinda perplexed about this. Any ideas? 8. I got my rig used and it already had "OH SHIT" on the cut-away pillow. I've seen a few others with it too, but I like it enough that I plan to get it on my next rig or replacement pillow (which ever comes first) Brisco Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.
  9. I had leg awareness problems for my first 10 or 15 jumps as well. What helped me the most was doing some toe taps during a dive. It's easy to become frustrated with your performance, especially at this early stage, but try not to sweat it too much. As long as you land safe and are smilin' it's all good. Just relax and enjoy the dive. Brisco Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.
  10. I just loved that video clip. I laughed out loud when she landed and was screaming "I did it! I did it!" My dad will be 79 this year and he has made 2 tandem jumps now. Brisco Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.

    Taxes 101

Subject: Taxes 101 Sometimes Politicians can exclaim; "It's just a tax cut for the rich!", and it is just accepted to be fact. But what does that really mean? Just in case you are not completely clear on this issue, we hope the following will help. Let's put tax cuts in terms everyone can understand. Suppose that every day, ten men go out for dinner. The bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this: The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing. The fifth would pay $1. The sixth would pay $3. The seventh $7. The eighth $12. The ninth $18. The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59. So, that's what they decided to do. The ten men ate dinner in the restaurant every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. "Since you are all such good customers," he said, "I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily meal by $20." So, now dinner for the ten only cost $80. The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes. So, the first four men were unaffected. They would still eat for free. But what about the other six, the paying customers? How could they divvy up the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his 'fair share'? The six men realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being 'PAID' to eat their meal. So, the restaurant owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay. And so: The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings). The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33% savings). The seventh now paid $5 instead of $7 (28% savings). The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings). The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings). The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings). Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to eat for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings. "I only got a dollar out of the $20," declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man "but he got $10!" "Yeah, that's right," exclaimed the fifth man. "I only saved a dollar, too. It's unfair that he got ten times more than me!" "That's true!!" shouted the seventh man. "Why should he get $10 back when I got only $2? The wealthy get all the breaks!" "Wait a minute," yelled the first four men in unison. "We didn't get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!" The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up. The next night the tenth man didn't show up for dinner, so the nine sat down and ate without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn't have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill! And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up at the table anymore. 13. America's Most Wanted profiled a guy this evening who is wanted for raping his best friends wife while the husbad was off on military duty. Guy's name is Neil Newmeister (not sure of that spelling but is pronounced new-my-ster). They said he loves to skydive and was last seen in Toledo Ohio. Anybody know this guy?
