  1. Being angry with yourself just makes an unpleasant experience more unpleasant. A not-entirely-rational part of your mind stepped up to try to save your life. It won't understand why you're angry. That just makes the whole thing worse next time around. Embrace the fear. Savor it like a fine wine. This is probably the most intense emotion you've ever felt, and you want to mute it out? This is what you're here for! This is what tells you that you're really alive! Don't take drugs for this. You will never know your own strength if you do. When you next stand at that door, you will be the absolute master of your own fate. Enjoy that too, if you have the time. I'm trying to teach myself how to set things on fire with my mind. Hey... is it hot in here?
  2. Yup you're hooked! Have you considered doing an AFF or static line training program? I started back in July and already have my A license going through the AFF program out here. It's an expensive sport to get into, but a training program would probably cost you a lot less than tandems! Just find a nearby drop zone (From your post I get the feeling you were vacationing out here and live somewhere else) and ask them about their training options. The next stage of the addiction is browsing the gear classifieds here looking for good used gear. I bet it'll be easier for you to find gear at your weight than it will be for me at mine! It also sounds like you'll be a swooper. If you go for training, check back in a year or so and see if my prediction was correct! I'm trying to teach myself how to set things on fire with my mind. 3. My name's Bruce! I did my first AFF jump on July 7 of this year, completed my A license jump a week ago and knocked out jump number 35 on Saturday! Yay, log books! My home dropzone is Mile Hi, in Colorado. I haven't quite figured out what I want to do with skydiving yet, other than keep doing it. The wingsuit guys always seem to be having too much fun, though. I might give that a try... in 165 jumps or so. I'm astounded by how far I've come in such a short time. I'm thoroughly sold on the AFF program for training new students. At the same time I watch some of the videos on this site and realize how far there is to go, too. I'm looking forward to the journey!
