  1. Sweet! Wish I could be skilled enough to get on jumps like that. Do you jump with MC from down under dynamics?
  2. Well here I am, almost 2 years later, on a Sabre 3 107 at 2.0. It’s definitely faster and longer recovery than my S2 120, as to be expected. openings are marginally better than the 2’s. good flare power. Good canopy. I’ll be on this for a while.
  3. Just to add, in the latest parachutist, April 2021, in the incidents section, a tandem master disconnected and pulled the skyhook rsl shackle apparently to activate the reserve, but the Colin’s lanyard disconnected the other riser, and they spun in. Just to add to the complexity of the system.
  4. No, but there is a podcast about this story on Spotify, or other streaming service. It was called skyjacker I believe. Good story.
  5. Kenz is correct. My main rig is as 120 with 160 optimum. This is for wanna be wingsuit or secondary rig. Ill end up getting zp 150, which it is suited for.
  6. Thank you all for your insight and advice. Yes I was wanting to make my 2011 vector with closing loop on bottom into a wingsuiting rig. Smallest size it holds is a 150. It has the full fitting optimum 193 reserve. I was wanting to stay in the 150 size... smaller is cooler right? Anyway if I need to go Zp like a specter that’s what I’ll end up doing, but I do like the way the f111 material feels! Plus the bandwagon of the wingsuit specific canopies seems to be super crispy. I do jump a 120 regularly in my primary rig.
  7. On the second jump on your video, your are HD belly, then transition to HU belly by cartwheel right? Yea stability is much harder HU. Your form looked good to me, and not bent at the waist. Keep us updated on the progress!
  8. As the title says, I was wondering if anyone is done this? For example my rig holds a 150 as the smallest main. Zero porosity material. If I wanted say a horizon or other low pack material 150, is there a way it could pack larger? Say having a large logo on it? thanks for any input.
  9. Nice, sweet exit on the first jump! I was kind of surprised to see how you were flying with the guys on the first jump and seemed pegged out , while the leader had a lot of knees. So if the leader straightened all the way out with no knees, would it be possible to keep up on feet? Good flying and nice FOoTage!
  10. Out of all the tracking jumps i've done up to this point, this was the first getting out after the tandems. If this is the way of doing things now, that's what I'll do. in the past it has been first group out. Since getting out last means furthest from the DZ, "getting back" may be more tricky. Yes, all tracking jumps should be led perpendicular to jump run a safe distance before any more navigating.
  11. Thanks for the info. I’ll check into the latest sim
  12. Hello, just wondering if it is the norm or not uncommon for tracking groups to exit very last, after tandems? I had a 4 way track which I was leading, and the other 3 jumpers were all a little over 100 jumps. I have 900 jumps and almost 9 years in the sport, with 3-4 tracking /angle camps. Had a good flight plan for this jump. I was informed by the s&ta that tracking groups exit last after tandems. I had never heard this before but did follow directions. We were the only fun jumpers on the load, and then tandems. They were worried about the less experienced tracking up jump run, understandably. During the dive, I could see all the tandems open and flying in the distance, about 5-6 k feet. Seems they could track down jumprun into the higher opening tandems just as easily. Thoughts?
  13. You will notice a lot of swoopers and tandem masters will have ankle braces on and high top shoes.
  14. Very informative and interesting video. “The velocity is squarer than the Sabre 2”. Another valuable piece of mis information. there is a lot more to just the planform, those 5 other things, plus the magic stuff. I mainly wanted to put feelers out to help me make the decision for my next canopy. I’ve been on the Sabre 2 from 210 down to 120, so I will prolly just stick with PD, but I was open to the crossfire 3 as well.
  15. Anybody fly the Sabre 3, compared to the Sabre 2 at high loading, around 1.8? ive been at a Sabre 2 120 at 1.8 for a few years now. Thinking about next canopy being crossfire 3 or now Sabre 3 at 2.0. yes the sa 3 looks the same shape as the 2, but with the tail ribs. crossfire 3 has the more elliptical shape. Any input from anyone flying these at higher WL?
  16. I would go for it, if its something that you cannot stop thinking about. The reward is very worth it. It can be very addicting, especially if you like to progress and work toward goals. It will affect your family life. When you start wanting to go every weekend, buy your own rig, tunnel time, etc, you start thinking on how you can make it all happen. Your wife might wonder ok, you've done it enough why do you keep wanting to go back... as mine did. You may only do 100 jumps and then feel like you've had enough. It just depends on the person. Like everyone said, there are a lot of risks involved, but do your best to do everything right and they are lessened by a lot. Good luck in your journey.
  17. The best skydive container would be the Mirage Mirajeb, engineered towards base jumpers, which would allow you to use a large main canopy and still have a reserve. The drawback would be instead of the skyhook, you would have to use the new Mirage TRAP mard system, which hasnt been out very long, so it isn't "tried and true" yet, so it could pose risk. You would also want a PD optimum reserve, because it gives you more square footage per packing volume. An optimum 126 packs the same as a PD 113 and it would be safer for you. Also don't forget to turn cypress on at the bottom of the building, so it will be calibrated correctly. Also if it is a changeable mode, you might want to put it on "student" mode.
  18. I did in fact order the changeable mode cypres from them with the free audible and I did receive both within about 4 days. I called and spoke to Julija on the phone and placed my order. So I can vouch for them. It did seem like too good of a deal to be true, but sure enough I got a new cypress and free Optima 2. It even came with some Scrisc pull up cords!
  19. Mikey "lunch break" because I would leave my job on my lunch break, drive to the dz (close by), arrive just in time for the 5 minute call, make a jump, throw my unpacked rig back in my truck and drive back to work. All during my "Lunch break"
  20. My question is... where do you get 15 dollar Jumps????!!!Quote
  21. Thats what I did, I ran all line groups up as a group like when packing, instead of individually. This is how I missed the twist in the slinkQuote
  22. Likes to jump, that method worked well. As soon as I grabbed the outermost line and walked it up, I could see the problem, a twist in the line group when I got up to the slider grommet. Mkx, thank you for your very detailed explanation, that was very helpful as well. A rigger showed me how to do it with the canopy hanging up with all the lines easily visible, I should have waited to go to my DZ and hung it up to do it. I thought I could be careful enough to do it on the ground, but apparently not. talk about reality check. In the future, I will have a second set of eyes double check my work as well. That way I can be SURE that it will be hooked up correctly. Good thing the twist went down to the riser and didnt cause a malfunction that had to be cut away. I'm glad the flare wasn't affected as well. Live and learn.
  23. Hi, I recently hooked up my main to my risers for the second time, the first time being with a canopy hanger so I could see all the lines easily. This time the canopy was on the ground. I thought I could do it right if I checked the lines good. Apparently I hooked 3 of my line groups up correctly, but apparently the left front slink did a 360 before I connected it to the risers. (I know I connected the slinks properly, I had the PD instructions there with me). After opening I noticed my left front riser had a twist in it. It didnt seem to affect the flying or flare, which I landed no problem, but was unnerving knowing that I made an error. Question is... what is the best way to check the lines on the ground while hooking them up to slinks, and risers? apparently I missed the twist of that one slink when I ran the lines up. Any help appreciated. Thanks.
