  1. It actually looks like the England jumps were maybe practice or something, the HALO jumps were done in UAE, though saying they were done there because of "legality" has me really curious. This story totally cracked me up: http://deadline.com/2018/04/tom-cruise-mission-impossible-fallout-skydive-stunt-cinemacon-1202376453/ And this one has a nice shot of them getting ready to exit. I'd be very interested to know more about what type of equipment they had on their helmets. And the 2nd guy from the left, is he wearing a birdman suit? It would make sense, to be able to get a nice shot from above that it would be difficult to get otherwise when you are exiting at 25-30K. https://www.cinemablend.com/news/2393662/the-crazy-way-tom-cruise-had-to-film-a-mission-impossible-fallout-plane-jumping-stunt The movie isn't coming out until July.
  2. I wish we could! As it stands we are probably going to lose our shirts on this record, but it'll be worth it! For any east coast (or independently wealthy ) JFTC participants, though, this would make a great warm-up!
  3. I know it's only a week away, but we could still use some people for this record-attempt. If you are interested and think you might qualify, or know anyone who might, please contact me ASAP. Even if you can't make it out until Friday the 9th. Hell, even if you can't make it out until Saturday teh 10th, we might put you on the list!
  4. September 8-11, Skydive the Point is hosting 100-way Virginia State Record attempts. This record attempt will coincide with Carol Clay's annual Birthday Bash boogie, as well as her 15,000th skydive. We are in need of more jumpers for this attempt! If you feel that you are qualified and would love to join this attempt, please PM me immediately and I will get you in touch with Carol.
  5. On 8/27 - 8/28, Skydive the Point in West Point, Virginia, will be hosting a girls weekend and the helicopter. Helicopter jumps will be $35. There will be a plane there, too, if the helicopter is not your thing . This weekend will also be a girls weekend, with Pink Mafia jumps, girls 8-way, girls freeflying, and some JFTC fundraisers (no registration fee). It will be a lot of fun, so come out and join us! PM me with any questions!
  6. For anyone who has jumped at Skydive the Point, formerly known as Peninsula Skydivers, we have a special event coming up that you should be aware of. This September 10 will be the tenth anniversary of the crash. To commemorate this anniversary, we are going to have a short Memorial Service, and a sunset Memorial jump. All families as well as anyone who would like to attend are invited! Please PM me if you have any questions or need more information about this event. Also, if you know anyone who would be interested in this event, please pass the information along to them. On a lighter note, this Memorial will coincide with Carol Clay's annual Birthday Bash, during which she will celebrate her 15,000th skydive. We will also be doing 100-way state record attempts over this same weekend, beginning Sep. 8. Everyone is welcome to join us for any and all of these festivities!
  7. For those who have not heard, Skydive the Point will be hosting 100-way State Record Attempts starting Sep. 8, through the weekend, or until the record is made. If you are interested in joining this record attempt, please PM me ASAP. Slots are filling up fast! If you want to come out to watch the record being set, there will be plenty going on this same weekend. With 3 Casa's & an Otter to take the 100-ways up, we will have plenty of planes to take fun-jumpers up in between. This weekend is Carol Clay's annual Birthday Bash, as well as her 15,000th skydive. There will be tons of fun for everyone, including manufacturer demos, great raffles, goody bags, Roger Ponce organizing big-ways after the record is set, crazy jumps, food vendor on site, awesome parties, etc. Join us for what should be our biggest weekend of the year! 9. Check out Skydive The Point in West Point, VA. We jump an Otter all summer, with some Friday afternoon jumps from a C-182. We're going to have a helicopter the last weekend in August, and the weekend after Labor Day is going to be a really huge boogie weekend...100-way state record attempts starting on Thursday Sep. 8, with 3 Casa's and an Otter. Boogie weekend will follow up to celebrate Carol Clay's birthday, and her 15,000th jump. We'll be having Roger Ponce organizing, and some low-time organizing as well. Who knows, we may get in some freefly organizing, and of course, really awesome parties! It's going to be a really amazing weekend. Besides that, we do have plenty of space to pitch a tent, and anyone will jump with you here. I've heard nothing but great things about Orange and Skydive Virginia as well, but haven't been there. Drop me a line if you decide to come out and see us. I'm walking a marathon to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Click Here for more information!
