  1. This DZ has a great vibe, really friendly for sport skydivers. I was at 'Skydive Nelson' for their first Green Rush Boogie over 16-18 August 2002. Over 30 active Kiwi jumpers participated, and we all had a great time! The DZ now operates a real honey of a jumpship - a converted Fletcher ag-plane with a Walter turbine engine (Czech copy of a PT6), fitted with windows, excellent internal sliding door, exit handles and step, carpeted and powder coated inside...takes 11 minutes to 12,000 feet with 8 jumpers on board, say no more! Sport rates are NZ$35 each to at least 12,000 feet. The DZ facilities are great, with indoor packing, full rigging on site, TV lounge, a great kitchen, deck and picnic tables. No accommodation on site for visiting jumpers, but there are plenty of backpacker motels in Motueka so that's no problem. The view from altitude is great, with the small square of Motueka aerodrome surrounded by orchards and vineyards, the town itself bordered by hill ranges and the Pacific Ocean.
