  1. While visiting Perris, I learned that Bonehead was located about five miles away. I went over to their location and Linda custom fit a Revolve for me. She was awesome! I described my fit experiences with their L and XL, she measured my head, and nailed it on her first attempt! The shell is the same size for L and XL, so basically I would have needed to order a large and remove a layer of padding in the back and top while keeping large pads on sides and chin...thus creating a hybrid between a large and XL. I now have more nose clearance than the standard XL and the sides fit as they should. Linda rocks!
  2. Thanks!...Yeah I just found that out when I called the number on SkyDive Tahoe's website. LOL OK...back to planning for the October trip to San Diego. Definitely want to try on some helmets! :)
  3. It has a nice large showroom?....as in many helmet styles and possibly jumpsuits I can try on? I'd certainly make the drive up from San Diego if that is the case. I am actually heading out to Lake Tahoe for a week (leaving tomorrow). I may see if they have a dropzone with showroom there. (EDIT: Found SkyDive Tahoe on the web, called to inquire, and the lady told me they were closed down, and located some 2.5 hours away. Funny because the website doesn't indicate they are closed).
  4. I'm quite new to sport of skydiving but I can comment on my experience with standard line length. A few months back I purchased a 2009 Pulse (210) that only had seven jumps on it. I mean it was pristine!!! I have it in a 2009 Wings container (190) and I am 6'2" and weigh 195lbs. I purchased the rig right after I got my A-license. My DZO checked out my rig and I started jumping it. In my experience I could hardly get any flare at all and was only able to stand the landings if I had some wind to land into. To put this in perspective I stood up 23 of my first 25 landings throughout training. In fact one jump on a no wind day I pounded into the pea gravel at my DZ. I was picking gravel out of container I hit so hard. I then let other experienced skydivers give it a try and they came away saying that my lines were definitely too long. They were wrapping the toggles and thus not pounding it in like this rookie. The DZO measured each line for me and confirmed they were exactly the factory specs...and then we shortened the brake lines 7-8 inches. Since then I have easily stood up every landing again. So I know I shared a big story, but in my opinion and experience Pulse very much needed to shorten their lines. I love it now. At 6'2" my arms are anything but short. The only complaint I have about the parachute is it is nearly impossible to fly with the front risers. Everything else...opening, flight, packing is very satisfying.
  5. What about San Diego, CA? Anything there? I have a trip coming up in October and I can add a couple of days on the front end of the trip.
  6. I travel quite a bit in my job and would like to purchase an off the rack jumpsuit and helmet. I was curious where the best places in the U.S. are to try on gear. My hopes are my travels will put me near one of these superstores...or super dropzones that have a large selection. For proper fit reasons I'm tenative to purchase a helmet online. My noggin' is more long (front to back) than wide. For example, I tried on a Revolve XL and my nose is about a cm from touching the faceshield, yet there seems to be a little extra room on the sides. It would work, but I'd prefer to find a helmet not designed for round heads. Thanks!
