Ladies -- Does this cause considerable discomfort for the boobies ? ----------------=8^)---------------------- "I think that was the wrong tennis court."
  3. Congrats, high altitude Dude - How'd the sitfly go ? ----------------=8^)---------------------- "I think that was the wrong tennis court."
  4. How big is your Safire? - How big are you? I'm a newbie (AFF #12), and I've been messing with the rear risers on my Manta 288 student rig for a few jumps. It seems I can steer almost exactly as well with the risers, or the toggles. When I buy my 230, is this going to change for the better, or worse? I find it somewhat comforting to know that a busted steering line isn't gonna freak me out too much. ----------------=8^)---------------------- "I think that was the wrong tennis court."
  5. My first 9 freefalls were all between 40 and 50 seconds, from 10.5 to 12k - followed by a hop 'n pop to get me off AFF student status. The amazing thing to me is - the first one seemed like it was over immediately, and each one after seems to last a little longer. My jumpmaster says it is because we relax, and become a little more comfortable each time. Whatever the reason - I'm dying for number 11, but I keep getting screwed by the weather (for almost 4 weeks) rain or high winds every day I can get to the DZ. Suffering from severe altitude sickness - NEED ALTITUDE ! ----------------=8^)---------------------- "I think that was the wrong tennis court."
  6. if someone with more experience than you suggests that maybe you stand down.....or maybe just said to you that they are done for the day because of the weather conditions,.....it might be a good indication for you be done as well. ---------------------------------------------------------------- I watched a tandem student dislocate his shoulder on Saturday. Bad winds - no jumps but tandems all morning - missed my AFF #11. Waited 'till 4, and experienced jumpers were starting to go, but bitching about their hard landings. Oh well, wait 'till next week - starting to get altitude sickness - NEED ALTITUDE !! ----------------=8^)---------------------- "I think that was the wrong tennis court."

    Just thinking.

nice pix very tiny and low res. though - for sweatermeat to truly be appreciated on a 19" monitor, the rack should occupy at least 40% of the viewable area ----------------=8^)---------------------- "I think that was the wrong tennis court."
  8. here's a classic - When there's lightning - it always brings me down Cause it's free and I see that it's me Who's lost and never found I cry for magic - I feel it dancing in the light But it was cold - I lost my hold To the shadows of the night There's no sign of the morning coming You've been left on your own Like a Rainbow in the Dark Do your demons - do they ever let you go When you've tried - do they hide -deep inside Is it someone that you know You're a picture - just an image caught in time We're a lie - you and I We're words without a rhyme There's no sign of the morning coming You've been left on your own Like a Rainbow in the Dark When there's lightning - it always brings me down Cause it's free and I see that it's me Who's lost and never found Feel the magic -feel it dancing in the air But it's fear - and you'll hear It calling you beware There's no sign of the morning coming There's no sight of the day You've been left on your own Like a Rainbow in the Dark ----------------=8^)---------------------- "I think that was the wrong tennis court."
  9. I'm 37, and I wish I hadn't waited 'till this year to start jumping - I've got a lot of catching up to do. . . . . . . . ----------------=8^)---------------------- "I think that was the wrong tennis court."
  10. wow, good deal - my second 10 jumps are $75.00 a whack, and having my own rig will only save me $10.00 per trip. ----------------=8^)---------------------- "I think that was the wrong tennis court."

Landing very fast - slide 50' on feet, then fall on bum. No style points for that one..... Not the greatest accuracy, either - between runway and trees, about halfway down. Need to work on judging height, executed landing pattern too high, and went loooonngg. ----------------=8^)---------------------- "I think that was the wrong tennis court."

Oops, I work for an engineering outfit, and run Computer Aided Design (CAD) programs to produce construction documents, most of which contain all caps - hence, my caps lock is most always on. I hope I didn't damage anyone's hearing with my previous posts. . . . . . ----------------=8^)---------------------- "I think that was the wrong tennis court."

COMPLETED JUMP #10 (LOW SOLO) ON SATURDAY, AND CAME OFF A.F.F. STUDENT STATUS - YIPPEE! FOLKS AT THE DZ INFORMED ME THAT THIS IS A BEER OCCASION, AND SEVERAL OF THEM SUGGESTED BRANDS. MY QUESTION: IS THE BUYER OF THE SUDS TO DECIDE THE BRAND, AND IF NOT, - WHO IS QUALIFIED TO MAKE SUCH AN IMPORTANT DECISION? ----------------=8^)---------------------- "I think that was the wrong tennis court."
  14. super cool pix - kinda hurts lookin' at work - makes you wanna GO !! ----------------=8^)---------------------- "I think that was the wrong tennis court."
  15. Anyway, there is one other very important disadvantage that I have that you won't have. My home DZ (Longmont CO at 5000' MSL) is the 2nd highest drop zone in the entire US and density altitude makes my landings much faster and hotter than yours will be.------------ WOW, YOU GUYS ARE ALREADY UP THERE - HOW HIGH (AGL) DO YOU GUYS GO UP FROM THERE FOR A.F.F. BEFORE YOU GET NOSEBLEEDS, AND NEED OXYGEN ? THANKS, STEVE - AND EVERYONE ELSE - FOR THE HELP/FEEDBACK. . . . ----------------=8^)---------------------- "I think that was the wrong tennis court."
  16. I'm 6'-2 ', 205-210 LBS., and currently jump a 288 sq. ft. Manta (ending AFF student status). I'm looking for a used rig in good condition with some resale potential. Ive been told by a rigger at my DZ to look for something in the 230 sq. ft. range. Other experienced jumpers have told me that this size is way big, and Zero-P fabric makes this size unneccesary. Being a rookie, I want to go conservative (safe), but would like to jump the thing a couple of years before replacing it. Used rigs in the 230 sq. ft. range are pretty rare. Any help from experienced AFF folks would sure be appreciated. ----------------=8^)---------------------- "I think that was the wrong tennis court."
