  1. Well this may help or not! I jump a 230zp on a rig the previous owner was jumping a 176. Packing it kicked my a$$ for the first 5o jumps or so! I had canvas hanging out that made the pack job look like sh!t. One of the AFF instructors had me pack one of his rigs and it just seemed to jump in the D-bag. Since then packing mine has been a cake walk. I guess I just had to get over the size issue! "You don't get many warnings in this sport before you get damaged"
  2. GOOD POINT! Next weekend I'll have to drive my truck and take a cooler instead of the bike! "You don't get many warnings in this sport before you get damaged"
  3. Jump number 101 and my first jump at night! Only been jumping for one year now and found the jump and the view with the "super moon" amazing. That being said I was definitely nervous on the ride to 14.5. The free fall was great and opened at 6k and was blown away by the view on the ride down under canopy. This is one of those entries in the log book I will look back at often! "You don't get many warnings in this sport before you get damaged"
  4. Did a tandem 5/26/12 at 52. Faxed my "B" paperwork in 5/11/13 with 85 jumps. (Was to cold for water training before that) Just starting to get competent at understanding what the experienced jumpers are explaining so I can learn more about this sport and looking forward to many more jumps. 5. Have about half your jump numbers so obviously I have no response to your questions. Just thought it was funny that you went to mantis to slow down. I'm 6'5 and a little over 230 and my normal fall rate was a little on the slow end so started using mantis to speed up. Guess everyone's own natural body position is just different. I have been thinking about a Bev suit but plan on waiting for my experience level to grow to allow for a better long term fit. "You don't get many warnings in this sport before you get damaged"
  6. One of the instructors at our DZ regularly puts together rigs and sells them at real good prices. What are your specs? "You don't get many warnings in this sport before you get damaged"
  7. Glad to see your still at it. I was just off AFF when you originally started and now am have everything for my "B" except for water training. I plan on a that and a HALO as soon as spring gets here. Hope you get a chance to make it across the pond and maybe make some jumps with us. "You don't get many warnings in this sport before you get damaged"
  8. Well technically it would not be my first boogie but I was just completing my " A" requirements during the first one and did my "A" hop and pop about the end of it. That will make that boogie an annual event for me plus it's my home DZ. Beer money!!! Oh I'll bring lots of beer ( not green though ) if we get to go and maybe some special local blend in mason jars!!!!! Hopefully work load will allow. Like to meet a lot a you folks. "You don't get many warnings in this sport before you get damaged"
  9. Been watching the thread and the boogie looks great. Would anyone object to some low jump number (probably be around 60 by then) jumpers show up and make some new friends! Been talking with a few friends and we are thinking about scheduling there for the weekend! "You don't get many warnings in this sport before you get damaged"
  10. Started jumping this summer at 52. Did not have a problem with a weak arch since I did not have one at all!!!! Instructors helped a lot and with a little wind tunnel time now I'm soloing and about to get my A. You make a long weekend trip here and I bet they would get you through it weather permitting! Don't let anyone stop you if you want it! "You don't get many warnings in this sport before you get damaged"
  11. It wont help you heal any faster but at least you will know there are others like you. Just made my 17 and 18th jump and also my first and second landings on my feet!!!! I have already had my first reserve ride (and that's nothing to be bragging about) do to my poor stability! But since you included the Swiss theme at least I have a fellow jumper who is Swiss and she has been kind enough to start teaching me how to speak Swiss (at my slow pace)!!! So get well and continue to falshirm springe!! (parachute jump) Damn I hope I got that right!! "You don't get many warnings in this sport before you get damaged"
  12. I can only respond based on my personal case! Yes! I'm not sure I would have made it through AFF if I had not spent the time I did in the tunnel. Not to mention it was fun! "You don't get many warnings in this sport before you get damaged"
  13. I spent 15 minutes in a tunnel recently to help with my AFF! My JM's recommended it and it was some of the best money I could have spent! I was really in a danger zone at pull time and chipping in freefall! After the tunnel time AFF was much easier. While I do not have any where near enough time to even consider making recommendations I think it's safe to say ask your coaches. I took the advise of mine and I'm damn glad I did! "You don't get many warnings in this sport before you get damaged"
  14. I kind of know what your feeling. I missed four weeks after my cluster of a jump #4. Made one repeat with just falling stable as a goal with no maneuvers or intention of passing and then flew to Raeford and spent 15 minutes (5x3) in the tunnel. Just finished AFF this past weekend and now am starting solos and coached jumps toward my A. In my case the tunnel was an amazing improvement in my stability, Manuevers, and Saftey. Safe jumps and blue sky's. "You don't get many warnings in this sport before you get damaged"
  15. Read your OP awhile back and enjoyed reading it. I just finished my AFF jumps and now am doing solos and coached jumps for my A. You said your planning coming to the US for a halo next year. They do 30K's at the DZ I jump at so maybe we'll see you there! Safe jumps and blue skies! "You don't get many warnings in this sport before you get damaged"
  16. I have the grand total of 9 jumps UNTIL this coming weekend. Monday morning driving into work with the window down I had the sudden realization that while making my first jump with no-one holding onto me the day before....... I did not hear any wind while in freefall! I love this sport! "You don't get many warnings in this sport before you get damaged"
  17. The pilot said 14,5 exit,exit,exit...... exit, exit, exit. And I spent good money to do this!!!!!! Plus it's a blast! "You don't get many warnings in this sport before you get damaged"
  18. Ok, my AFF has taken longer than most due to a combination of age, vacation, small bad landing injury, and grandson time! I did show up one Saturday night with a cooler full of mixed beer. Heineken, Busch, Mic Ultra, and Coors. No beer left next morning ( slept at the DZ) but everyone seemed happy!! I did find out the young man who packs the student rigs did not get much for the packs so I tipped him my next trip for each of my previous jumps! In all it's just a mixed group of really good people! "You don't get many warnings in this sport before you get damaged"

    Biggest Fears

Being bored! Always knew I was here for a limited time, just can't stand thinking there would be no reason or risk! Maybe some one else will understand. Most don't! "You don't get many warnings in this sport before you get damaged"
  20. I found the experience of trying to control movements in a configned area challenging to say the least. Looking forward to see the results this weekend at the DZ. "You don't get many warnings in this sport before you get damaged"
  21. Made my trip to Paraclete XP and it was great. Selwyn and the rest of the staff really make you feel welcome. He spotted my problems quickly and had me drilling on them. Sure makes a difference when you can stop and look at video and jump right back in and work on the correction. Sure can make you sore but I will be making this trip as often as I can. "You don't get many warnings in this sport before you get damaged"
  22. Hey, I'm currently in the last few stages of my AFF and in West Tennessee. May try Lexington after I get my A. One of the staff at our DZ was talking to me about tunnels ( I'm going to Paraclete the this weekend) said the outdoor tunnel in Waynesville was great and the staff were very helpful. I'll probably try to make it out there in a couple of months to try it out. Give me a shout and maybe me and a few others from the DZ will meet you there. "You don't get many warnings in this sport before you get damaged"
  23. He going to be coaching me too! "You don't get many warnings in this sport before you get damaged"
  24. I will be there Saturday for my first visit! I'm on AFF 5 and want to see how the time in the tunnel helps. I love stepping out the door of a plane and turning lose! "You don't get many warnings in this sport before you get damaged"
  25. Flew in two commercial planes Friday. I haven't flown laty when I wasn't sitting on the floor. LOL "You don't get many warnings in this sport before you get damaged"
