  1. Here's what I do for a ghetto Hypeye: If I'm shooting stills and I bite the switch, I can feel/hear the shutter clicking. If I'm shooting video, I click what I think is the record button and then I hit the shutter button. If it's recording a video, the shutter won't click. If it clicks, you're not recording.
  2. Nice job dude. Congrats. For your next project you should think about building one of these. No Jet A required! http://www.laboratoridenvol.com/projects/bhl-guide/bhl-guide.en.html
  3. The C3 doesn't have a remote release port. https://esupport.sony.com/US/p/support-info.pl?info_id=636 You can either sell it or hack it up if you're good with soldering: https://gethypoxic.com/blogs/technical/16457609-adding-a-wired-shutter-release-to-the-sony-nex-5
  4. For $50 the Eken H9 is a better choice. Does 1080p @ 60fps instead of 30fps like this thing.
  5. It's probably the port, it wasn't really designed to put up with excessive vibration without any support. For belly stuff it's usually ok but any freeflying or wingsuiting are much harder on the port. I would just sell it and buy another one (used or new). For the next one you can make a cable support with Sugru or plastimorph, like this.
  6. "This Fisheye lens is good for 16-50mm lens that has 40.5mm filter size."
  7. I wouldn't trust that attached to the 16-50 PZ. Something's gonna snap. The 16mm pancake would be a better choice.
  8. There are lots of ultralights/PPGs/PPCs that fly out of a little RV park/airstrip on the west side of the lake in Salton City. If you were to show up there on a weekend when there's a planned event like http://www.trikebuggy.com/sites/boogie_ss.htm, I'm positive you could get someone to drop you over Bombay Beach for a case of beer or $100. Many two-place PPCs and weight shift trikes fly there (illegally) without a sport pilot license so they won't care about NOTAMs. As long as you don't go in, no one will care. You do know the lake stinks pretty bad and is surrounded by rotting dead fish most of the year, right? I've had some great flights with friends there but it's not exactly a bucket list destination for just a single jump IMO.
  9. Kinda the other way around :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=paJqHPHLExo
  10. 4K 60P is awesome and M-JPEG maintains great image quality but it's freaking huge: 800 Mbps (6GB/minute) is gonna get old really fast unless you're shooting a commercial. Also only partial readout in 4K, so your full frame is now APS-C. And since no 5D series has had 4K yet, it's unlikely that the 5D IV will have 4K 60p. It's more likely to be 4K 30p, and for that you're better off with an A7SII/A7RII with sensor stabilization (which the 5D IV won't have) or $1,000 for an NX1 with digital stabilization (which works pretty damn well). And all 3 of those do full sensor readout for 4K.
  11. Actually I have a pair of RW-6 rings that are marked as being from 2002. I recall seeing a friend's set that were from 2007.
  12. Hey Mike, question: Is the $150 fee for changing the canopy sizes or the harness size? Just asking because if nothing else this is a decent chance for people who bought their Vortexes used and could use a small harness size change, which shouldn't cost PS anything extra as long as the canopy sizes are the same.
  13. My Funk (made for my dimensions and measured by a dealer) doesn't let me grab the toggles without unzipping, even with pulling my feet all the way up to my butt. I can just barely reach the risers but not quite enough to yank one down if I needed to.
  14. There's something else going on there. A stock $1,000 MBA has the equivalent performance of a $300-$400 Dell/Sony/Lenovo PC. Download Geekbench (http://www.primatelabs.com/geekbench/) and compare your score to a MBA (http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench3/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&q=macbook+air). Try reinstalling Vegas or possibly your whole OS. And for just ~$170 you can drop in a brand new 512GB SSD. It'll feel like a brand new computer, guaranteed.
  15. Actually the A5100 is capable of doing that in camera with Sony's $5 app: https://www.playmemoriescameraapps.com/portal/usbdetail.php?eid=IS9104-NPIA09014_00-000006 It works pretty well and keeps the original photos as well, only thing is it only works in JPEG and not RAW.
  16. If 20mm is wide enough, I'd recommend trying the Sigma 19mm f/2.8. It's an incredible lens for the price ($120-ish used) and it has way better resolution, contrast, colors, and "pop" than the Sony 16mm or 16-50. The 20mm is better than those two but still isn't that great. Here are a couple shots straight out of the camera with the Sigma.
  17. I have it like that on my sky helmet and it works ok, but in terms of potentially snagging a bridle the top mount is still better IMO. Due to the FOV it can't be mounted totally flush with the side of the helmet without showing part of your helmet or eye/nose, or at least I haven't figured out a way to do it. So the front of the camera will be poking out from the helmet an inch or two and can still snag a bridle. Same as most Contour side mounts I've seen. It's better than a stock Gopro mount but it's not perfect.
  18. While the AS100 is a great camera, you have to admit that its stock QR mount and accessories seriously suck for jumping. But they can be mounted with a similar profile to the Gopro Roller mount if you throw the QR mounts away and just screw into the 1/4'' mount. You can either use a flat helmet or spend a couple minutes with some moldable plastic (like Instamorph) making a flat base to go under the AS100. I set mine up last season for dual AS100s and once they were screwed down with the plastic around it there was no way a line could get caught underneath an edge. The actual camera sticking out the top could catch something, but it would release once the angle cleared unlike a stock AS100 or Gopro mount that will get wrapped around and trapped. Main downside is then it's screwed in and takes a minute to remove, but in practice that's not a problem since it has Wifi. Also works great with bigger cameras.
  19. Works great. Get Instamorph instead of Sugru, though. The plastic is better for this and it's way cheaper.
  20. I use an A6000 for sky, BASE, and paragliding/speedflying. It works great. I have the 16mm pancake as well as the 0.75x adapter for a 12mm equivalent, which is close to a Gopro perspective. The 16mm pancake is fair bit sharper and has more contrast than the kit lens. More importantly, it's tiny and doesn't move when you focus or zoom. The kit lens extends and is kinda flimsy. I use Martin/Exit Equipment's tongue switch with a hacked up release cable (http://www.amazon.com/Mudder-Multi-terminal-DSC-RX100M3-DSC-RX100M2-DSC-RX100III/dp/B00L7O2AGA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1408857827&sr=8-1&keywords=sony+a6000+trigger) that I converted to be a right angle micro USB plug. Martin's cable is the best, but it's kinda pricey. The A6000's 1080/60p is gorgeous and the AF for stills or video is the best I've found for this application. Highly recommended.
  21. Sick! Was fun jumping with you, buddy.
  22. Thanks buddy. I had a witty rebuttal for that, but it actually sounds just like me. I'm ok with that if you are :)
  23. So last weekend I had my first non-standup landing, which resulted in a dislocated shoulder and a bit of road rash. Out of fear for what the SOFPIDARF community would say, I popped it back in myself due to the ER wait time and then ran 8 miles to get a ride back to the DZ with a case of beer. No big deal. Yes, I'm on Adderall. Anyways, the most painful part has been the resulting 2nd degree road rash. I've had a ton of injuries and I've always let them scab, heal, and scar naturally. But 3 days after my incident while I was picking up my penis reduction pills, the pharmacist told me to try this stuff called Tegaderm. It's basically a fake layer of skin that keeps the wound moist and helps it heal much faster than letting it scab. I applied one to each of my open wounds. The next morning there was a noticeable improvement. 48 hours later, you can clearly see the new skin has started forming. Yellow goop still comes out (which is why I've taped the sides of the see-through pads), but it's way better than it'd have been otherwise. Evidently Tegaderm will also almost completely eliminate any scarring afterwards, which would be a huge plus if I was a pussy. If I had put these on the first day, I'd probably be good to go already. As it is, I should be able to take them off this weekend. I've ordered a bulk pack that I'm gonna give to my S&TA, who coincidentally was more than happy to drown my arm in hydrogen peroxide. That shit burned like a mother. I'd say that makes us even after never listening to him (hey Jeff, I jumped a CF2 99 a month ago!). Tegaderm. Highly recommended. Don't swoop without it.

These guys are great. I walked in with my rig for the first time, was manifested within 10 minutes, and then got pulled onto the staff fun jump load right after. The hangar is cozy and clean, the King Air is crazy fast, very comfortable, and it's got speakers, and everyone's very friendly. My daughter ran out into the peas after I landed and no one yelled at her for going past the cones. Score!
  25. Found this in one of the paramotoring forums I frequent. Anyone know him? http://www.canberratimes.com.au/queensland/dead-paraglider-was-novice-20130415-2hvb1.html Blue skies brother.
