  1. Who the fuck cares? Then why did you ask the fuckin' question in the first place? Wow...taken enough time already...got to get back to the fuckin' loading dock, I got a lorry to load.
  2. OK...three rounds of drinks it is! Not sure I'm going to make it out your way though.
  3. I don't question the honesty and sincerity of your question. There are several answers, all of which may not be to your satisfaction but here goes anyway: 1. Preferences of the business. This nightclub had a "no gun rule" for the premises. Florida allows both open carry and concealed carry as well as having the "Castle Doctrine" or "Stand Your Ground" in law. Private property owners have the right to allow or not allow firearms on their property. 2. In this case, the nightclub allowed one off duty policeman having a second job as security to be armed and customers not to be armed. Again, the business is within their right to establish such a rule. 3. Now as much as many here think the NRA is the very spawn of Satan, the NRA does publish (in their monthly magazines) incidents where citizens did defend themselves (and in most cases prevailed) against an armed assailant. 4. The probability of finding one's self in a life threatening situation regardless of the number of possible victims is low. In the many situations I've carried a concealed fire arm, I'm fortunate to say that I've never been in a dangerous confrontation where I had to pull the weapon for possible use. Further, I hope that day never comes. But like skydiving where it's better to have two feet on the ground wishing to be in the air versus being in the air wishing to have two feet on the ground; I'd rather be armed and have the option than to be unarmed and at the "discretion and mercy" of a dirt bag. Finally, the answer is "NO!" I don't feel more powerful carrying a firearm. "Packing" means knowing the law and the legitimate rules of engagement. It's not something one wants to get wrong after the fact.
  4. Give this one a read. http://law2.umkc.edu/faculty/projects/ftrials/conlaw/billofrightsintro.html
  5. OK let's have some fun! $20 says one or all of them does some time. No suspended sentences. If they get a suspended sentence, probation, fine, you win. Time in jail with or without fine, I win. PM me your address and I will gladly pay up but the converse also applies. You game?
  6. It follows then that you have been the benefactor of occupying land as a result of the slaughter of native Americans by Christian European settlers. Perhaps the virtuous thing you could do would be to move and live on land that is consistent with the level of virtue you wish to aspire to? It would serve as a shining example to the rest of us! Truly!
  7. Where the hell you been? It's been an ongoing conversation for several decades now. As much as you and I like skydiving, it is important to get off the DZ every now and then and find out what is going on in the rest of the world. However, the real implied "tint and tone" of your "rhetorical question" REALLY is...wait for it..."Is America finally ready to talk about gun control?" There FIFY. My answer...The FBI and the ATF are already aware of the firearms I own. Beyond that, that's all they need to know so with all due respect...not HELL NO but FUCK NO! I hope I've left no ambiguity there for you!
  8. The trial and ultimately sentencing judge is going to see these mug shots. They've all flunked the attitude test and they'll get their remedial training with a few months in the crowbar hotel; fashion limited to orange or alternating black and white stripes. This is going to be fun to follow this case.
  9. I must commend you for giving them a hell of a lot more consideration and charity than I would give them. What would I do? It's not printable here.
  10. Perhaps it's worth remembering EVERYDAY our lucky asses get to live our lives in this great country.
  11. 2011 Christmas gift from my wife was a gift certificate for AFF-1. Never saw that one coming and to further the incredulity of the gift, she tells me she's going to do it too. The gift in large part was a result of an ongoing battle with cancer that I finally had won a few months before but left me in a few pieces as they say. We had a long talk a few months down the road and decided that "one and done" would not be enough...it wasn't. Four years later, we're still at it. Happy we did and not looking back.
  12. You might be right. I would encourage you however to read "The Summa Theologiae" by Thomas Aquinas on the existence of God. Give it a read. You're still free to make up your own mind one way or another.
  13. Not a problem for you but apparently a problem for many in North Carolina...so perhaps you need to quit what is called "mirror imaging." Personally, I don't give a shit about this issue but it's going to be a problem with some violent ramifications and it won't be if but when. What will be interesting to see is the difference between those states that have "shall issue" concealed carry laws and those that restrict concealed carry of handguns. Bottom line is this; there is an increased number of handgun sales. I'll bet that the number of handgun sales to women has increased. As sexual assaults in bathrooms occur, armed confrontation increases with the high probability someone's going to get shot. I'll put my money on higher frequency of assaults occurring in States where there are very restrictive concealed carry laws.
  14. "Signing up," is I think, a rather glib term in both the term and context of a declaration of war and not a term I would use given the gravity, implications, and ugliness of the matter.
  15. Uh...in talking with my father-in-law over the years, He has a different take. If you call a declaration of war "signing up," then perhaps you are right. Many men like himself did head for the recruiting stations to sign up. However, the Pearl Harbor attack was not only received with a predominance of anger and indignation, it was also met with reluctance for the mindset was one of Germany on one side, Japan on the other, and the United Sates in between, unprepared and yes quite fearful of what they were facing. According to my father-in-law, the country did not see itself as a superpower at the time. Father-in-law went on to join the USMC, Second Marine Division and was in the invasion of Tarawa, fought on Saipan and Tinian. His eyewitness accounts of battle are grizzly and horrific to say the least. He is still alive today, will be 99 in July. With respect to others wanting bona fide sources for the Invasion of Japan, I'll refer to the recently declassified "Nimitz Gray Book" published by the United States Naval War College. It can be downloaded. Naval Planning for "Operation Olympic" is found in Volume 7, pages 100 - 200.
  16. UHHHHHHHH....WELL.....MAYBE In the balance I don't disagree. The problem with state craft and diplomacy is that actions (as much as words) carry with it explicit meaning and implicit nuance which invites speculation for the chattering classes. I don't recall any US President on a state visit to Japan visiting either Hiroshima or Nagasaki for the very reasons everyone is talking about here. Perhaps it is time to move on but I hope Obama is very careful in his words and his actions.
  17. O'Rourke just might do that but come November 8, 2016. What will he REALLY do once he gets into that ballot box? No one really knows do they.
  18. The prognosticators on either side can write all they want. It's what they do and it's what they get paid for. Fifteen minutes is a lifetime in politics. Between now and November 8, 2016, there's a lot of 15 minute intervals left. Carter was leading Reagan in 1980 up until the last week of the election; then it turned decidedly against Carter. Where this election goes I have no idea but so far it's been a lot of fun to watch.
  19. "At the core of liberalism is the spoiled child; miserable as all spoiled children are; unsatisfied, demanding, ill-disciplined, despotic and useless. Liberalism is the philosophy of sniveling brats." - P.J. O'Rourke Keep it up. I got more quotes where that came from and some of my own. OBTW...on O'Rourke's quote; if the shoe fits...
  20. May I humbly suggest that the sky become your playground and not your limit. See ya at Blue Ridge!
  21. Mercy.....! Mick Jagger had her clearly in mind when he wrote "Start Me Up." "You make a dead man...." Maybe it was Keith Richards who wrote the lyrics!?!? Whatever.
