  1. Suppose I should do the right thing and do the math for Rhys (and his wife) - assuming tandems count?: RHYS: 115651 + 6000 = 121651 219 + 3 = 222 121651 / 222 = 547.98 RHYS'S WIFE: 121651 + 7000 = 128651 222 + 3 = 225 128651 / 225 = 571.78 ...and me: 128651 + 1850 = 130501 225 + 1 = 226 130501 / 226 = 577.44 "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
  2. 115651 + 1850 = 117501 218 + 1 = 220 117501/220 = 534.09 "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
  3. How do you spot an extrovert Engineer? They look at your shoes when they talk to you... "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
  4. Blimey, not seen one of these in a while.... Hello wannabe OK, look at it this way: You want to be a Doctor? Cool - going to take about 6 years minimum to get the knowledge and experience required. Sure, you can not bother with the training and set yourself up with a website advertising your services; chances are you will be in some court soon enough. Ditto a lawyer or architect or whatever (don't believe the movies now, Catch Me If You Can was an unusual case). This may seem to be a glib and unrelated analogy, but the fact is if you want to have the required knowledge and experience to wingsuit BASE off cliffs you really are going to need to put in the appropriate effort - that is (as someone said above) if you want a good chance of repeating the experience. And even then it really isn't very safe and there is a good chance you could be horribly injured or die. I kid you not. Good luck with it!

  6. I can't answer your question categorically (not sure if they have brought in any specific license 'transfer' requirements), but can give you a couple of pointers. I did a similar thing to you - a long time ago! - had about 10 jumps and decided to go to the US to do AFF. Do you know if you are doing the USPA or BPA AFF course with BPA instructors? The USPA AFF course didn't used to include a hop n pop where the UK one does (well, from 5k...) as AFF Level 8, so you may be required to do that when you return or have it signed off by a UK AFF intructor while in Florida. Try to get in as many jumps as you can (safely of course, its tiring when you first start jumping etc etc). The more experience you can return with to the UK will definitely help you at your chosen DZ. Lastly (and possibly should be firstly), if you know where you will be jumping in the UK contact the CCI before you go and ask what they would want you to return with. If you get any attitude about planning to do your course abroad (it used to happen...), pick another DZ! Hope that helps "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
  7. OK, trying to intepret riggerrob's dangerous past... and add my numbers: Total (with RR numbers): 67 / 102 New total (1800 jumps, 1 cutaway and reserve ride): 68 / 103 "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." 8. 1) Others here are better qualified to answer this, but in basic terms square parachute technology has become reliable enough for square reserves to be viable, which then gives you the advantage of being able to control your flight and to only need to learn one kind of parachute - given that reserve situations are generally stressful, it is an advantage if the situation is as familar as possible. 2) You can't throw it as far as a spring can! If its clean air you are looking for when in wrap of zero P mess, it becomes very important. But that's little simplistic, there are many other reasons - again, someone more qualified can respond. 3) BASE rigs are packed without a slider for "low" stuff and with a slider for delays above 4+ ish seconds - its not the gear (so much) that determines the opening speed, its whether a slider is used or not. 13. Apologies if this is a re-post (heluva long thread...). Been looking for a remote solution and came across this: http://www.sony.co.uk/product/cac-other-accessories/rm-av2#pageType=Compatibles ...wired remote?? seems that we are back in the '70s... 14. This is the wrong answer for this website, but.... I've been skydiving longer than riding (although not by much - 11 years skydiving, riding for 9) and I have to honestly say that I think per £ I get more out of the bike than I do jumping. Having said that, I don't know what I would do if I had to choose between them.... And I also apply that opinion to now, not back when jumping was still new and therefore far more exciting for me than it is now. Tough choice buddy! 15. ...actually wasn't that bad - maybe I was lucky. Only in for one night and drove myself home. The worst bit was after the second surgery after they put it in - they made my leg too long after the initial op (go figure) so I had to go back into surgery to have it shortened. I reckon he was hammering on my knee to reduce the length cos I was in a lot more pain compaired to when I actually broke it... I guess I can't complain though, I most certainly did it to myself "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." 20. Another question: How long does it take for a video to appear if you link from YouTube? I got a "successfully uploaded" on the 1st March, with something about it appearing when its been cleared (not the same wording) and that I would be emailed... Nothing yet - am I being impatient? Thanks
  21. ....forget it, got it to work. Although if anyone want to explain what a "glob reference" is I'm looking forward to being educated... "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
  22. OK, I got a question - what does this mean? Need a file glob reference in (Video) Getting this message when I try to link to youtube... "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
  23. How about submit it and let the judges decide? I got the same problem, and I'm thinking that's the solution - no camera at the end of April = too much BASE footage (obviously nothing to do with the edit/camera work/music choice etc etc etc ) "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
