  1. There's more information on CNN about the government investigating someone leaking state secrets then info about a possible radiation leak.... there is priorities to what we need to know apparently.. Reddit seems to have the most information but not exactly reliable.
  2. My first jump was following the AFF class and I found it tough to relax while thinking about 8 hours of class material but everything went fairly well. The following week I came back for AFF cat B and was there a couple hours early before the pilot arrived. My instructors went over the jump plan and then asked if I had done my stretching for the day yet. I was surprised how relaxed I was after spending 15 minutes stretching and it made it easier to focus on what I was suppose to be doing. During free fall, I found that all of my movements were A LOT smoother and wasn't tensing up/twisting my body while doing maneuvers like practice pulls. So now Im going to spend 15 minutes stretching before every jump until the newbie jitters go away ;)
  3. Thanks for the info skymama! I went for the full AFF camp at Jump town so ill be there until I get my A license. Even if hes not my old landlord it seems he's very interested in training people to become instructors so Ill end up spending a lot of time at both DZs learning :) Cant imagine a better job then taking people up into the sky!
  4. Wow... small world... I think I use to rent an apartment from him in Brighton.. Unless its someone else with the exact same name lol
  5. I live 15 minutes from Taunton, you just made my day!!!!!
  6. I just did my AFF jump 1 at Jumptown in Orange and have nothing but awesome things to say about the crew. I've heard good things about Peperell too.
  7. Thank you for sharing your story, it's motivational and I'm glad to hear you're getting back up into the skies! I have a friend in the military who lost an arm to an IED and his phantom arm was permanently clenched and in pain. After countless hours of physical therapy and psychology sessions, he watched this TED talk and tried the mirror idea and said it made a difference immediately. The part about phantom limbs in particular starts around 9 minutes but the entire talk is fascinating. I'm not a doctor but hope this helps!! http://www.ted.com/talks/vilayanur_ramachandran_on_your_mind.html You're an inspiration for people like me just starting out, Blue skies!
  8. I just did my AFF 1 jump and it's absolutely incredible. I did a tandem jump last year to see if id enjoy the sport and it seemed to really help in the AFF 1 solo jump with fear and what to expect in the air. Students in my class that did not do tandem prior seemed to have more sensory overload (not that it wasnt terrifying anyway hehe). But yeah, there's something wrong with you if you're not scared looking at the ground 13,000 feet down knowing your about to jump out toward it (At the door: "What was I thinking!?!?"). Tandem jumps you can do anywhere at any time as far as I know but for AFF training Id pick a DZ close to home to do training and get your license then eventually you can start going to other DZs. The first few times you're falling at 120mph going through circle of awareness and practice pulls, the last thing you're worried about is the view (unless its your altimeter) but it will still be the most memorable thing you've done in your life ;) -Nate
  9. That is some terrible luck ;/ Glad to hear you guys will make a full recovery! Is it inappropriate to ask for insurance policy info on the first date? Think that may have just taken #1 priority spot over brains and looks... I'm actually getting married in July and she got me the AFF camp at Jumptown as an early wedding gift last Saturday (cant run if I'm falling??). Waiting for them to send the legal information and I had some doubts on them covering jumping out of planes but hopefully works out :) Get well soon! -Nate
  10. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good skydive friendly insurance company or straight liability insurance? Just starting my research on this and any recommendations for companies to look into is appreciated. Higher rates is expected, its just frustrating reading through so many companies fine print for exclusions and ways they're going to screw you in the end... Thanks! :) -Nate
  11. I'm doing the AFF camp at Jumptown in Orange, MA this weekend. Both sides of my family grew up in Pepperel and Im definitely looking forward to jumping there when I can. Blue skies! -Nate
  12. Check out Path of Exile, its heavily influenced by Diablo and going to be free to play. I played the diablo 3 open stress test and was not very impressed overall. After trying path of exile open stress test I wouldnt even consider paying for D3. Currently path of exile is requesting $10 for closed beta keys and will be completely free when it is released.
