  1. Thought i'd upload a few photos of her in action.
  2. Our first prototype in the Petra Lite R&D project was Bridget. This is a photo of one of our test jumpers Kitsch flying her on the 3rd jump we did on her. Video to come soon on our Facebook page.
  3. Just to catch up and reply to a few questions. Petra- lite can be used with a full RDS without any problems at terminal. Also i'd like to clarify that Petra can also be used terminal, with a full RDS and 300 lines, 90% of our comp jumpers ( including Nick) are happy to use her in this configuration. In fact she opens nicer than any other canopy i've ever owned. We have collected a vast amount of feed back from a lot of our sponsored jumpers about Petra-lite and are quite confident at this stage with the platform. We are currently tweaking the design for an anticipated release. Chris
  4. OK perhaps a little clarification is require, my intention wasn't to infer this canopy was for anyone, it is a huge leap in modern canopy design and is focused on the experienced canopy pilot who is looking for the next step. Petra is basically a comp wing. However there has been a high level of interest even from non competitive pilots. Petra lite is intended to offer a level of performance close to Petra but without the hassles of comp fabric, lines and full RDS. Petra- Lite is intended for daily use , which the full sail Petra is not really so suitable for. Performance wise it is well above a JVX. Chris.
  5. Sorry i've been on a long haul flight back to NZ for the past two days! The 'Lite' version is targeted more at the everyday jumper who wants to have a ZP canopy he/she can use for pretty much everything, the focus was still on performance but also ease of use , she has a standard slider. Is only made from ZP ( which makes colour options better) and also easier for packing. She is also the ideal stepping stone from a JVX, flight wise she is very similar to Petra, steep dive and long recovery arc. It's still early days but we are confident that this canopy is going to be something very special. Chris[
  6. OK so here she is ; This summer we’ve been experimenting with a brand new series of prototypes! We’ve nicknamed this version Petra Lite. She’s a 7-cell (21-chamber) crossbraced performance wing designed using Petra technology and shaping, and to date we’ve made several iterations. Standby for more news, photos and the normal carnage videos from our exciting new R&D project! Feel free to ask as many questions as you like! Cheers Chris.
  7. Sorry I was just sending some email details via PM. I've flown both, in various sizes and conditions. The JFX has the nicest openings on any canopy i've ever flown. Reliable is how i'd describe her ! The recovery arc is shorter than a velocity, but it has more left in the rears and reminds me a little of a JVX in that respect. Head to head i'm not really sure which canopy is best. My suspicions lean more towards the Velo having the edge, but i've not jumped them back to back so it's difficult to be exact. The JFX wasn't really designed to be a competition wing, the focus was openings and everyday use, your average AFF/camera flyer who wants to use a cross brace without the hassle of dealing with erratic openings. I've seen some very impressive pilots flying this wing, I can't knock it :-)
  8. I've flown both! I've sent you a PM :-)
  9. I should probably add the Petra is much more sensitive in the harness than any other canopy i've flown. Once it's open It can take a little adjusting to keep it flying where you need it. Once you're used to it this becomes second nature. Another reason my preference is to have hold of the rears :-) Chris.
  10. Hey man , Well really my preference to use the risers has simply been from a test point of view , I like having my hands near the toggles, when testing brake settings it's handy to be able to get old of them quickly - I'm sure you can figure out why ;-) Guess this has lead to forming a habit. I like to gently guide the rears on opening, it's not that Petra's ever really "whip" round on opening , they behave like their on rails 99% of the time. Hope this answers your question. Chris.
  11. The lines in question are HMA 400 and Vectran 300 ... This video was made for the PIA symposium. All the footage is taken from 3 different Pilots , myself included. Also the footage is back to back with no editing out . We all have different styles of flying these canopies. It was really in response to a million emails regarding Petra openings.
  12. This is a very popular mod, works super well. If you wanna know more. Email me at; [email protected]
  13. Awesome response :-) My money is on unstable air cause by either gust(s), terrain, or objects with the unusually high wind speed. Post the video :) Ian
  14. Hey mate, I work for Nzaerosports they let me take this one on holiday :-) Chris.
  15. Stunning views, awesome friendly staff. BBQ's whist the sun sets. Fun jumping all day... What's not to like! I might even move here! :-D
