You should have driven to z-hills. Weather sucked there too but at least we could have gotten drunk.

It was actually in the 70's here and felt nice. Unfortunately there was a 2K ceiling and it was windy. Not what the forecast said it was going to be. Tomorrow night it'll be down into mid 30's

Things are Ok here in Sarasota. A lot of people lost power. I didn't. A lot of debris but no major damage. Spent last night with Stacy at the assisted living facility where she manages the Special Care Unit. We lost power their about 5am. It was interesting to say the least. I have a new found respect for those that work with seniors that have alzheimers and other forms of dementia.

Anyone have any information on how FLorida DZ's made out with the storm? Zhills, Sebastian, Titusville, DeLand, Lake Wales.....

There is no plywood to be found here in Sarasota either. I went out last night to look. Luckily a friend with hurricane shutters has a few sheets he's willing to give me.

Just read it could go anywhere from the Carolinas to New Orleans. If anyone needs to get away from the East Coast I've got some room. Unless of course it heads northwest south of the lake than I may be knocking on some doors or camped out with the old people with Stacy.

You guys watch out. This one looks pretty nasty. I thought I read that tropical storm force winds extend around 170 miles from the center. Actualy, everyone in FL needs to watch out. I think we all just learned that these things are not all that predictable.

yeah, it's starting to skirt the coast line. could come just south of venice now. we're so in a rush for information it looks like we are constantly looking at radar simulations plotted with two points which only shows straight lines. they still it could still take off into the gulf. i just saw live broadcast from ft. meyers. Nasty winds there. For those in the Sarasota area I'm finding the best information comes from ABC on channel 7. Right now I'm drinking beer and eating beef jerky.

they just said on ABC that we could still see 100+mph winds here.

10:40am Aug. 13th - Sarasota. It's cloudy but dead calm. Very eerie. We had a squall about 4am that woke me up with the wind and rain.

It's getting pretty windy here in Sarasota. I think most of these winds are due to Bonnie.

It could be a CAT 2 hurricane by the time it makes landfall in Florida. I'm about 10 to 15 miles from the Gulf Coast. Anyone want to come to a party at my place?

I live in Sarasota and typically jump at Z-Hills. It's about an hour and 20 minutes away.

I'm assuming most people are aware of the abduction of Carlie Brucia in Sarasota, FL where I live and that her body was found today. My roommates girlfriend was running some errands and had to pass by the spot where she was abducted. Traffic was at a standstill due to all of them TV crews there trying to get video and report. Trying to get out of traffic she wound up taking the street where the girl lived (she didn't know it at the time). The family had black plastic up all around the house for privacy and sign in the front yard asking people that they respect their privacy and don't come on the property. Traffic was stopped because of all of the the news crews lined up on the other side of the street taking pictures and video. I don't know how everyone feels but this seems very rude to me. The media has all of the possible information that they could have already gotten. There is nothing more or anything new for them to gain by encroaching on this family that just lost their daughter.

Damn January heat. Time for the A/C to come on.
