    I have a 308. At those sizes you really need to step up to a larger container. Stop trying to cram the biggest shit in the smallest container you think will fit.

    How's your OP126 fit then? Should be loose according to the chart...

    Fits fine. Not loose by any stretch of the imagination.

    I was jumping a Crossfire 2 at the bottom end of the wing loading and it was lots of fun.



    I thought it was a pig lightly loaded (1.4). As such...I wish I'd spent my money on a Sabre 2. Beyond superior openings on the XF2 (obviously) the Sabre 2 was a much better all around performer. The XF2 felt "soft and spongy" for lack of a better term.

    Much better alternatives to spend your dollars on, I think.

    What other "sources" do you need other than 1) the manufacturer's own words and 2) their long-standing published sizing chart?

    Low-bulk fabric isn't some sort of miracle-worker...especially when you're 20+sq over what the manufacturer considers a "tight fit."

    Buy a properly sized container FFS.

  5. I know a few folks that have a V319 and tried the OP143. All now have an OP126 in there as it was like a brick. I have a 308. Again, some use a 143. I can't imagine doing so...so have a 126, as do most I know.

    The better answer is to step up a rig size instead of fiddling around the margins.

    Also, per UPT: Caution if you put a full fitting main canopy and full fitting reserve canopy in the same container; this may be very hard to pack if bulk distribution is not correct.
    This is particularly true for the containers V303, V304, and V306

    Can you put the audible cover on with the audible inside? I'd rather have it covered up. How'd the G3 pocket get trashed? Just regular wear and tear?



    Just general use over the last 4ish years. Taking the audibles in an out etc.

    I didn't baby the helmet either...just used it like a helmet and didn't think too much about it. Made it through ~1000 jumps just fine. The only reason for a new one, frankly, is that I *want* a new one eventually.

  7. There's enough throughput of US and foreign jumpers in FL that if any of the BH products were as good as their (basically sponsored) reviews you think we'd be seeing tons of them. I can probably count on one hand how many I've seen during the last few years - even the Aero which appeared fairly decent.

    We're just living in a G3 world...though I will say that most first time full face buyers I see these days are going with the KISS. Everything that is good about the G3 plus better ventilation and audible integration. The audible pockets on my G3 are pretty trashed.

    I'll pick up a KISS when it is time to replace I think.

  8. you have a lot of opinions but not a lot of data to back it up. probably not the best way to go about an argument that can best be described as "i think or i feel."

    as for the DFU vs the USPA...the USPA issues more A licenses, yearly, than Denmark has skydivers I'd wager. There are multiple training pathways here and if there were significant problems I'd venture to guess data would have popped up over the last 30 years.

  9. Category C (following the ISP in the SIM) has two jumps. It says so on the very first page of the category in the SIM (pdf and printed).

    The second page tells you what you need to perform in order to advance...and the third tells you the learning objectives of the category.

    In Freedom Paper that is $28.41 and $18.07, respectively. Not bad.

    [edit] can't find block prices on Teuge's site but std prices are € 20,00 to 12k and € 13,00 to rent gear. Still not bad.

    You could easily just slide it in on your ass every time. I know a few guys with no legs that do this. I also know someone with 1000+ jumps who competes in a top AAA national team who does it in nil winds.

    Of course learning to flare is the other way!



    And im sure a bunch of us know many folks that have snapped bones and broken ankles with this approach. One misplaced divot or tuft...*snap*. This person has legs. WTF

    Learn to land properly. Make sure that you know how to PLF. just slide...Jesus Christ.

  12. I had a similar problem (on Vectran). Looked exactly the same. Started around the slinkish area like this and then gradually worked its way up the lines. There were "hotspots" (not necessarily burrs) on the slider grommets. After replacing 3 of 4 grommets on the slider (over a series of months) and 1/2 to 2/3 of the lineset (paired suspension lines at a time etc etc....) I got rid of the fucking thing. There was zero visual indication on the grommets, too.

    The canopy probably had 1000-1200 jumps on it. Zero jump lineset on it when I bought it. Pissed me off. There was *just enough* deformation over repeated use that it started causing problems

    I'd be loading a 150 at around 1.45WL.

    The Crossfire looks interesting, but a big step up. The guy I did my canopy courses with is an Icarus dealer, so I'll ask him what he thinks about the Safire 3 vs Crossfire.



    I got my first XF2 around the same jump numbers and around the same loading, same size. I've owned a 149, 119 and currently jump a 109. I've also demoed the 129.

    Outside of the XF opening far better than the Sabre 2...at the 1.4ish level the Sabre 2 actually flew better in my opinion. In terms of "level of aggression"... the two of them are actually pretty similar - particularly at that WL.

    At 1.4 the XF felt a bit sluggish and, frankly, a bit "soft." When it got a bit bumpy / choppy it was much less fun to fly than some alternatives...not "it is gonna collapse" horrible but rather spongy. Frankly, it sort of felt spongy all of the time now that I have a better base of comparison. At higher WL it is a delight.

    As an "all around canopy" I think it flew best around 1.7-1.8ish. It is very fun to fly at 2.0 but it isn't terribly efficient (that could be my fat ass hanging under it...)...though it is perfectly fine for the type of jumping I do.

    At 1.4 I'd spend my money elsewhere not because the XF2 is a bad parachute...but because there are better alternatives.

    Just one guy's opinion...

    The rumor in FL is that they've been waiting for the patent to expire and then they will break ground. IIRC they've had the land for a while and some tooling on the site.

    Of course that's just a bunch of folks bullshitting around a bar...

    If only the rumor of a 20+ foot tunnel in Orlando was true. lol. I"m just happy Tampa is getting a tunnel.
