  1. We've barely tapped into the reserves in Canada and Russia (you know the two largest land mass countries in the world) and then there are the unknown reserves in the arctic (ownership of the arctic is highly contested). If these economists you speak of are saying that there is only 50 years left, they are referencing the cheap easy access through the traditional ways of drilling for oil. There is tons of harder to access and more expensive to access reserves in the world. Canada alone can power the entire planet under today's production levels for the next century. Throw in the Middle East, Venezuela, the USA, Russia and now Australia. There is enough dino juice still buried in the ground for several more centuries. We, our children, our grand children, their grand children will all be pining for the fiords long before humanity runs out of the dino juice. But yes several centuries from now, humanity (assuming we don't kill ourselves before then) will be facing a day when these resources dry up. 2. It will eventually dry up, several centuries from now under present day production levels. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  3. Ever hear of drilling and inserting a pipe deep into the earth? You know those pipes, things made of steel? Fracking has been safely conducted for a good half century now. Do I need to show the imagine of the network of existing Natural Gas pipelines that dots the North American landscape again? It is mind boggling how vast the existing networks of pipes that there are buried below the ground. The EPA has already come out to say there is not one case where Fracking has polluted the ground water and the EPA has said that Fracking is safe. But don't expect the Media, Hollywood or their partners in the Big Green movement to acknowledge that everything they claim about the polluted ground water is BS. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  4. Most fracking is done for Natural Gas and yes I am in complete agreement that Fracking is good. The USA is one of the few countries who have been able to reduce their Green House Gas emissions and they were able to do this thanks to Fracking. By extracting more Natural Gas through Fracking, the USA has been able to close down many Coal fired power plants and replace them with Natural Gas plants. Plus all this nonsense about Fracking is polluting the ground water is complete bullshit. Fracking occurs a couple of miles deep into the earth, nowhere close to the water tables. But don't expect the Media, Hollywood or their Big Green partners to acknowledge this. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  5. I don't think he was talking about higher taxes. I believe he was talking about people losing their jobs when the resource commodity prices drop. It is kind of a domino effect too as many support industries will be effected when jobs that rely on resource exploration and extraction are terminated. I am the one who is claiming governments will raise taxes to make up for their lost revenues and well I don't see any benefit here. Some will win, some will lose with lower commodity prices. But we all get screwed when governments raise taxes to make up for their lost revenues. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  6. Perhaps ... or perhaps we will finally find out if Jim Prentice and the rest of this clan are Conservatives (IE: willing to control their spending) or if they really are the Progressive Party as I have claimed that they are. If a sales tax is introduced, perhaps the death and demise of the Wildrose Party was a tad too soon? Time will tell. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  7. Some win, some lose. It all sort of evens itself out. Individuals will obviously benefit with lower fuel costs and they will have more money to either spend it or pay down existing debts. Some businesses will also benefit with lower transportation fuel costs, but I highly doubt they will pass this savings on to the consumer (sorry can't see DZOs dropping the jump ticket prices, They will come up with some excuse to keep them where they are). Other businesses that rely on resource exploration, extraction and businesses that rely on building the equipment to extract the resources will lose. And the big losers will be the various governments who have become reliant on resource taxes to fund their government spending which in turn will hurt many people (some of course who hate oil and gas) who rely on government programs. I always have to laugh at people who do not understand that resource taxation helps fund the big government programs these people cherish Expect oil to be low for the next few years. Saudi Arabia and the US government are working in collusion here with each other to harm the Russian, Iranian, Venezuelan and to some extent Canadian economies (though I don't think Canada is in the cross hairs of the Saudis and Americans). But if anyone thinks oil will stay low forever, perhaps I could interest them in a nice Spring/Summertime time share property off the coast of Bangladesh. What goes up, must come down and over course it will go up again, and it will come down as it always has. This idea that the world would be running out of oil in the next decade or two is complete and utter bullshit. There are still several centuries left of the dino juice at today's production levels. The important thing is to watch what governments do. Will they be raising taxes now to make up for the pending resource taxation short fall? My guess is yes there is no government out there that does not love to raise taxes even though some say they don't like to do it. What happens when the price of these resources rebound? Will the taxes be lowered? LOL ... if you think they will, remember that Bangladeshi time share opportunity I told you about. Some will win here, some won't win with these prices. But we better get ready to adjust to the changing economic climate. Historically manufacturing benefited and was able to pick up the slack when resource commodities were low. But big manufacturing has left and I highly doubt we will ever see it return. Oh and I don't see any harm in trying to ramp up solar technologies. But wind is not the answer to all our problems. One only needs to look at the Province of Ontario and how the ruling Liberals have messed that place up with the massive wind initiatives. Funny the media goes ape shit when a few birds die in an oil tailings pond but the same media totally ignores big wind when wind turbines kill thousands and thousands of birds every year. But you didn't think the media was honest did you? Remember that time share in Bangladesh if you do. LOL Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  8. Got to say the inaugural NCAA College Football Playoff Championships was a resounding success. The 4th seed Ohio State Buckeyes took down the top seeded Crimson Tide from Alabama in a tough but fair semi-final game and then OSU went on to pummel the 2nd seeded Oregon Ducks in the final. No way in past years would a 4th seeded team be allowed to win the National Championship, but thanks to the new playoff system we have a 4th seed team standing on top looking down on everyone else. Now all we need (perhaps not next year but hopefully in the not too distant future) is an 8 team playoff versus just a 4 team playoff format. There are plenty of Bowl games and plenty of time in the schedule. Teams don't need to take a month off from their last regular season games til the time they play their bowl game. Fitting in one extra quarter final playoff round is totally doable. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  9. Yack, yack. Excuse me while I pull the crow out of my throat. That was a dominant game, a dominant game from Ohio State not the Ducks. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  10. Well ... looks like I might have spoken too soon. The shoe appears to be on the other foot. Ohio State 21 Oregon 10 at the half. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  11. Oregon marches down the field to open the score 7-0. Ohio State is going to have their hands full trying to control the Ducks no huddle offense. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

  14. What SkyDekker was referring to in regards to the North American media self-censoring itself is largely true. I can't speak for all of America's media outlets because I do not have the time to search them all. But here in English Canada only three media outlets have shown the cartoons. The National Post, Sun News and there is apparently a newspaper in the Maritimes who have shown them. All of the other mainstream English language media outlets: CBC, CTV, Global, Toronto Star, Globe and Mail etc, etc, etc have all decided to self censor themselves. Most of these media outlets are just being silent. But the CBC has come out and publicly stated that they will criticize all religions whenever they want, except for one religion. The CBC has publicly stated that they will never say anything negative that will risk offending Muslims. Looks like the CBC's Stockholm Syndrome is flaring up again. When the CBC posts a picture of their employees holding up "Je suis Charlie" cards, you know the CBC is full of shit. I should point out though that a number of media outlets in French Quebec have shown the cartoons. Quebec obviously has historical ties to France but Quebec has also made an attempt in recent years to force immigrants to assimilate into Quebec culture, much to the displeasure of some. 15. You live in Toronto right? Are you not aware of the firearms laws in Canada, you know Bill C-68? Perhaps you are like many Canadians who are completely clueless to our actual firearms laws but still think having a firearm in the house is a death sentence, If you have your PAL or an RPAL in Canada, the firearm can NOT be loaded while it is in storage (ie: in your house), the firearm must have at least one sort on lock it at all times when the firearm is a non-restricted firearm. If it is a restricted firearm then you need two locks at all times. The ammunition can NOT be stored with the firearm (not talking about loaded firearms here) and it too, the ammunition, must be behind some sort of lock. As long as you follow the law, having a firearm in your house in Canada is not at all dangerous. Unless of course you are worried about being pistol whipped. But you stand a better chance of being high sticked than pistol whipped. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  16. I've actually been to New Life at least half a dozen times. My Springs girlfriend at the time was a member and to earn brownie points (she was a hottie and my best friend) I attended her church a few times with her and her family. At the time I have to say Pastor Ted was a heck of a good speaker. Not good enough to change me from an Agnostic into a Christian. But he was still one heck of a good motivational speaker who had many good points in his sermons. Of course Pastor Ted did turn out to be a hypocritical nutcase himself. New Life is weird. But New Life and pastor Ted have nothing to do with this Islamist Terrorist attack. Last time I checked the members of New Life do not go around murdering people who refused to convert. 18. I lived in Colorado Springs from 1998 through to the summer of 2000. It was a very picturesque small to medium sized city and I met some really nice people. It saddened me to hear a few years ago when a fire sweep through the Mountain Shadows district (the part of the city I lived in) and destroyed the homes of many people. Yes the Springs is full of Christians, I've never been around so many people who were obsessed with God and the Devil. But for the most part they let the Agnostic me be me in their beautiful city and never bothered me. What are the odds that his arson attack was made by a religious person? Hard to say for sure, but the odds are higher than let say in Boulder CO where I lived from 2000 to 2004. Anyway the main newspaper in Colorado Springs is the Gazette. I thought I should view their website this morning to see if what Kallend claims is true that the media is avoiding this story. You judge for yourself: http://gazette.com/ Of course this newspaper's website is dynamic so if someone does not access it within the next few hours, the news is bound to change. But right now this arson attack is right at the top of the Colorado Spring's Gazette website under the "News: Crime & Justice" section. I am pretty sure the good people of Colorado Springs are aware of this arson attack. Hey what's going on over at the Denver Post. As someone who lived in both Colorado Springs and the metro Denver area, I know the Denver Post often ignores Colorado Springs. But let's see. http://www.denverpost.com/ Oh ... too funny ... this arson attack is the lead story at the Denver Post. Kallend is upset that this local arson attack does not take precedence with the national news on the same day that 12 people were murdered by Islamist Terrorists in Paris France? Troll ... 19. This is the second time you have trolled with this topic. Just curious how many highly loaded cross braced canopies have you flown? I am guessing zero, but perhaps I am wrong. Should low timers be attempting to swoop highly loaded cross braced canopies? Of course not. But unless you've flown a cross braced canopy, what the fuck do you know about their flight characteristics? They are extremely efficient wings. It was only a joke but back when I was a competitive swooper I used to joke with my swooping peers that everyone should be flying a cross braced canopy. Troll ... 20. Prevent all the deaths? Not likely. The attack would have still commenced. The first people killed, the janitor and the journalists likely would have still fallen. But the outcome could have been different and preventing some of the deaths or at least stop the killers before they got away? Why not? Have you not seen the cell phone video from the 2nd floor when the terrorists assassinated the police officer on the street? If that person with the video camera had been packing, they could have taken down one if not both killers. Of course by shooting a firearm instead of a camera, they too could have drawn attention to themselves and also been shot. But I would rather die standing up than live kneeling and submitting to Sharia Law. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  21. Have you seen the pictures of these men? I have. If you have not seen them yet, I am sure soon enough you will see them and you will see that they are not converts. What a fucking joke to insinuate these men are converts. Cartoons are not real Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  22. This is the biggest croc of shit in this entire thread. Look at their names: Cherif Kouachi, Said Kouachi and Hamyd Mourad. You still stand by this utter nonsense that these men are converts? What a fucking joke. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
