  1. There is only one "new" 911. https://www.google.ca/search?q=porsche+991+gt3+rs&biw=1024&bih=648&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=_7BOVcCANMnFogS4sYH4Dg&ved=0CBwQsAQ all others are nothing but imposters. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  2. Somewhat similar to my DD2 Rotax Kart. Top speed in my Kart is only about 70 mph, but I can take the high speed sweeping corners at 50-60 mph where I am pulling close to 3Gs in the apex of the corner Plus once you factor in how low I am to the ground, that I am in an open cockpit with no seat belts (it's better to be thrown from the Kart rather than to have the Kart land on top of you), it is almost like I am driving a Formula One car. Almost. Of course all the Formula One drivers did start their racing careers in a Kart. You should see the kids racing their Karts. Many of them are awesome drivers, way better than the majority of adults out there on the public roads. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  3. They definitely look cool (especially this one you posted) and I am sure they have great acceleration. But I can't see them being all that fast in the corners on a race track. Rubber contact with the tarmac is key in cornering and this thing is missing a lot of tire contact surface. Plus trail braking might be a tad sketchy with one of these suckers. Definitely get your braking done in a straight line because I would imagine they swap ends easily if you go into a corner too hot and the vehicle is not balanced. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  4. I saw one of these the other day here in Calgary. I doubt it would be all that fast on a race track where rubber contacting the tarmac is preferred. But I am sure it drives sort of like a Kart on the public roads. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  5. This week, vote splitting in the city of Calgary allowed a socialist government to win a massive majority mandate for the first time in the province of Alberta's history. Am I happy with the result? No ... but this is how the system works and I have to accept the result. Oh and I brought this up because I am sick and tired of people whining when their side loses an election because of the first past the post system. At other times their side won elections thanks to the first past the post system. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  6. Is the first past the post parliamentary voting system perfect? Heck no. But I think proportional representation has just as many if not more flaws. How can you send a fraction of a person to parliament when they garner X.Y% of the vote? I too live under the same first past the post parliamentary voting system that you have (heck we copied your parliamentary system) and I too just had an election the other day (a provincial one) where the winning party only had 40% of the popular vote but still won a massive majority mandate. For the first time in the Province of Alberta's history the socialist New Democratic Party rules the land ending the 44 year uninterrupted dynasty of the reigning Progressive Conservative Party. The PC Party used to be Conservative, but they have only been Conservative in name for the last 10-15 years. They became so arrogant, so corrupt, so progressive that the Conservatives in the party split off to form the Wildrose Party. The PC Party previous leader stepped down last year because of a spending scandal and was replaced by a new leader who succeeded in convincing many Wildrose politicians to cross the floor apparently decimating the official opposition and then this new PC leader passed an unpopular budget and thinking he had no opposition anymore he called an early election one year ahead of the fix election date laws his own party passed. Well the people of Alberta stood up and finally smelled the coffee to see how corrupt and arrogant this reigning party was and the people of Alberta voted for change and they got it. Edmonton the Province's capital where all the government workers live and work overwhelming voted for the socialist NDP. There was no vote splitting going on in Edmonton at all. The majority of Edmonton voters voted to keep their government entitlements flowing. Do I like this? No, but it is democracy. In rural Alberta a handful of ridings near Edmonton and up north went to the socialist NDP and a couple of ridings also went to the reigning PC Party. But the vast majority of the rural ridings in the province went to the actual Conservative Wildrose Party. That left Calgary, a business city left to decide who would win. But the right learning Calgary vote was split between the reigning PC Party and the Wildrose Party which under the first past the post system allowed the socialist NDP to come up the middle and win tons of Calgary seats giving them their majority. Once again am I happy with the result? Only 40% of the voters voted for a socialist government (keeping in mind about 80% of Edmonton voted to keep their entitlements). Of course not. But this is how the first past the post democratic system works and in my opinion while it has it's flaws, it's still better than proportional representation. There are too many "you scratch mine I will scratch yours" backroom dealings going on in proportional representation. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  7. The people/person who wrote this article insisting that men take more risks than women never met the many skydiving girls we have in the sport. They may be in the minority at the DZs, but many of the skydiving girls who frequent the DZs are just as fearless as the men. Plus fearless not just towards jumping out of airplanes or jumping from fixed objects, but fearless in other activities as well. A little over a decade ago when I was still in Colorado, I met one of these fearless sky girls whom some of you may know. She was into wingsuit and BASE big time. Winnie Chung. Not sure where Winnie is these days, but Winnie and I went skiing one day together at Keystone (actually I was skiing and she was snowboarding). I am a former ski patroller at Lake Louise (a major ski resort in Western Canada) and have dabbled in some ski racing at the club level. So I know how to fly down a mountain at great velocity without killing myself and I could not believe my eyes when Winnie and I tore up the slopes that day. She was 100% fearless and I shit you not we were flying down the mountain all day long (what a great day). I was happy when the day ended and neither one of us hurt ourselves because while I was skiing with a helmet, good ole Winnie was flying down the mountain on her snowboard with nothing on her head but a pair of goggles. It's not a male vs female thing. Some people have the gene that allows them to take pleasure from risks and others don't. Anyone remember the Imax movie "Andrenaline Rush"? They spoke about it in this movie. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

  9. I am not a Ducks fan. I am still cheering on the Habs. But I am beginning to wonder if anyone will be able to take down those quackers. Time will tell of course ... Ducks and Caps need 11 wins to sip from Lord Stanley while everyone else needs 12. It is a long road ahead for all those still in the hunt. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  10. There is a lot. There are just as many FTM as there are MTF. They are just harder to detect. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  11. Politicians and politics in general make me ill. You know the way the main character "Alex" in the movie Clockwork Orange gets ill every time he is exposed to violence (after his treatment). Well that is me these days every time I think about politics. You think a politician may be different when they first arrive on the scene making their promises of how they will be different. But it is all lies. Once they get their hands on power they show themselves for the true snakes that they are. Here in Canada the Federal and Provincial politics gets all the attention from the media because the media has their own agenda. But it really is the local municipal politicians who screw us the most. Anyone who thinks Billary Clinton or Jeb Bush should be the next POTUS is a retard and needs to have their head examined. Democracy is a facade. Don't be fooled by these snakes. They are all corrupt to the core. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  12. No what we need are solar powered heaters embedded into our driveways and walkways. Solar powered heaters so powerful that the moisture of the falling snow instantly evaporates on contact with the driveway. Wait a second, solar panels don't work when they themselves are covered with snow. I guess we will just need to shovel our solar panels. See we do need the Snow Shovel Registry and if it saves one person it will all be worth it. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  13. This is probably what will kill me. Probably not this year, perhaps not next year as well since I am in decent shape. But as a middle aged person who lives where snow is a common occurrence and someone who owns a somewhat large two car garage driveway that needs to be cleared of the slippery, icy and sometimes very heavy white stuff ... one day I may just have a heart attack while outside shoveling. Then again I'd much rather go thanks to a heart attack than to rot away with cancer. PS: perhaps it's time we introduced a continent wide snow shovel registry? After all if it saves just one person, then the billions and billions of dollars we poured into it to create an army of unionized government workers is all worth it right. After all who cares how we are going to pay for it. Let the tax payer worry about that. The only thing that matters is that we know where every snow shovel is at all times. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  14. I scored a 10 which surprises me a bit since some of my answers when it comes to income and education were middle of the road answers and I did answer below average for family income when I was 16 because well, while I did not grow up in extreme poverty, I did not grow up in an affluence. What probably helped my score was that I don't have kids and while kids can be great (at times, not always) they are extremely expensive especially in today's world. One place where I thought the survey came up short was where they asked about your employment status. Technically I am currently (knock on wood) employed full-time with a decent middle of the road income between 60k and 90k (I am closer to 90 than 60), however I am only a contract software developer in a business where age discrimination is real. There is a huge difference between a contract worker and someone who has full-time status with their employer. Every year I go through the stress not knowing if my contract will be renewed, not knowing if my 30+ year gig as a developer will finally come to an end. They should have included a "Contract Worker" answer with the other employment answers. However I took the survey twice, once answering that I was a "Full-time Worker" and once answering that I was "Part-Time" and in both cases I still came out as a 10. 15. The video forgot one important aspect of the game. Yes during game play, players from opposing teams try to knock each other silly. But once the match ends (at least at the club level) these same players who tried to knock their opponents silly during the match gather together at the pub and drink with each other until one of them drinks themselves under the table. I was hoping the video would show this. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  16. We're not going to race. We were unable to secure a brakeman. Unlike the #2 or #3 positions in a 4-man sled (I was the #3 man in practice) where the only requirement is to be in shape, be able to push the sled, be able to get in the sled, seated and then be able to withstand the punishing G forces. The brakeman has the second most responsible job on the team and needs to have experience in knowing the track, knowing when to brake and knowing how to brake. So you can't just pick anyone off of the street, you need to find an experienced brakeman and we were unable to do this as a team. That's okay, my body is still sore from Friday's practice runs. haha You know the way we as skydivers may tell a whuffo "Freefall is unlike anything you have ever done before". Well bobsled is unlike anything you have ever tried before, unless of course you are already an experienced Luger or Skeleton racer. In a bobsled the G forces are so sudden and so intense the way your body is driven into the bottom of the sled. During the high speed high G force turns my lower back was killing me. But a funny thing is my lower back is fine now. My upper back is a tad sore, but I am told this was because I was not loose enough, I was actually trying to fight the turns when in reality I really needed to be loose like a noodle and go with the turns. I asked about a wearing a weight belt for the lower back pains in the turns as I have seen some sliders wearing them, but then I was told they are not wearing them for their lower backs, they wear them to help protect their kidneys as some sliders (not all of course) have been known to piss blood after many practice runs. What a sport. Unlike anything you have ever tried. I may get to run again next year, and hopefully if that happens the team will be a little more organized in terms of securing enough people capable of being the brakeman. But of course time is not on my side as I will be another year older. Wish I had tried this sport when I was younger. Heck I moved to Calgary back in 1990. But unless you meet people who slide you don't really think about that world class bobsled track in your back yard. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  17. Last night for the first time in my life I got to ride in a full blown (non-tourist) 4 man bobsled as a fellow I know from the Calgary Kart Racing Club owns his own sled and has been piloting them for years recruited myself and another couple of people to compete with him in the 4 man category of the Alberta Bobsled Championships this weekend. We did some practice runs last night and I sit here waiting to hear if I will be racing in tomorrow's race (unfortunately our brakeman aggravated an existing injury and we need to find a replacement). I tried to recruit a fellow who I met last summer in a offroading Jeep club as this fellow has over 400 runs himself and used to slide with Brian the owner of the sled years ago. But unfortunately Mike (aka Silversurfer) is recovering from a recent hernia operation and was unable to slide with us this weekend. Mike did however come down to the track today to watch the Mens and Womens 2-man bobsled races and took this really cool slow motion video of some of the action. I even make a cameo appearance in the video as I tried to get as close as I could to the sled to take in the speed of it as it passed. Here's the video: https://vimeo.com/121569194 What a rush. The G forces you experience in bobsled are nothing like I have ever experienced before and I do race a Rotax DD2 Kart which pulls close to 3 Gs and have driven a Formula Renault race car (also close to 3 Gs). But in my Kart and in the Formula car the Gs are more gradual in building up. The 4.5 Gs I experienced last night in that 4 man bobsled are instant and violent and it's hard to describe except ... wow ... it's intense. I am in pain today in several parts of my body from the Gs and bashing against the walls of the sled in the corners (we had braking issues, but we did not crash). However even though I am in pain, it was all worth it. I kind of wished I had tried this sport when I was younger. Oh well, at least I got to experience it now. haha Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  18. If a say "Lawn Darts" to a young person, their eyes gloss over dazed and confused and reply "Lawn What"? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  19. It's pretty f###ing ridiculous. It should put to rest this notion that the people of the USA are the most free people in the world, because they are not. However perhaps these people could have avoided this whole affair if they had just bought a Jeep instead. Not sure why anyone would want to wheel in a Land Rover when they could be wheeling in a Jeep. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

  21. Coach Carroll should have listened to the ghost of Vince Lombardi versus listening to the ghost of Don Coryell. Because here is a video of the alternate ending of how the Super Bowl could have (should have) finished. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=My6v8Oe2TkY PS: not my video, but still funny nonetheless. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  22. I agree #### the ads. As a neutral fan of the game not tied to either team all I cared about was a close exciting game and that is what we got. I did not want Seattle to repeat (mission accomplished) but the price of not seeing a repeat was that Darth Vader (Bill Belichick) and his protegee Luke Skywalker (Tom Brady) are champs for the 4th time now. Next season I will definitely be adopting an "Anybody but the Patriots" stance. Back to the game, it was a bad call for sure. But you win and lose as a team (including the play calls from the sidelines). Football is a game of deception. A game where you try to do the opposite of what the other teams thinks you will do. As logical as it seemed to run with Lynch, it's all part of the chess game and if that pass was anything other than the interception, Seattle is still alive and still had a chance to be heroes. However the football Gods did not agree with the call and now Seattle's coaching staff are goats. I bet Vince Lombardi rolled over in his grave on the play. Perhaps it was the Ghost of Lombardi who guided Malcolm Butler towards this pick. haha Even if they go on to win more Super Bowls in the years to come, the Seahawks will need to wear this one forever. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  23. Should be interesting for the fans. But as we know from skydiving videos (the video never captures exactly what it was like to actually being there), the field of view of a camera is only a fraction of what the the human eye can process. But if this helps the fans understand the speed of the NHL, all the better. The NHL game is fast. It's always been fast, but it's even faster these days than let say 20-30 years ago. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  24. I was not referring to you when I thought about the legion of low information fools who following this complete idiot as the new Messiah and Savior of Humanity who is on record as saying Fracking needs to be banned and never gets called out by his media friends as the uninformed moron that he is. But I got to say I am jealous of his talents for taking a nice selfie. Clearly these days you don't need to know how economies work, you don't have to have any experience running any large organization before you become a world leader. Clearly these days the only skill one needs to be the leader of a G7 nation is the ability to take good selfies. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  25. Right now, the EPA is saying Fracking is safe and the people who are doing it are acting responsible. Again the EPA has stated that there is not one case where Fracking has polluted the ground water. If a time comes when fly by night Fracking operations are not doing it as they should, then that will be time to crack down on these operations. But so far despite the bullshit feed to low information "We love our politicians who take good selfies" voters, Fracking is not the disaster the Media, Hollywood and their Big Green partners say it is. I am all in favor of ramping up solar energy (though solar does not work when the panels are covered in snow), but wind is not a utopian solution as one only needs to look at the complete failure and high consumer costs of wind power in Ontario to see what kind of a mess it is. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
