  4. ^ that I also look at the sky a LOT more than I used to. And everytime I see a blue sky, I think to myself: "Damn, you could have jumped today, you idiot!"   6. I know what you mean. I felt it when I was walking my dog the other day and some strong winds came up and blew into my face. I couldn't breath. I searched for the best way to face the wind, and found that breathing trough your mouth like you're jawning is the best answer. I feel the same with fans too. But when I went indoor skydiving I had no trouble at all. If someone could explain, that would be great. From 0 to 12.000 in 9 minutes
  7. Skydiving is evolving really fast, but remember that we're just at the beginning of the evolution. It's like cars: WE are still the oldtimers ;) In a few years there will be lots of improvements of rules and gear. 24 people is still 24 too much. And if these 24 are just U.S, than there are a lot more than we thought. But still, we are improving. From 0 to 12.000 in 9 minutes

  11. I have had 10 minutes of tunneltime (2 sessions of 5 minutes) with only 2 days in between. During the first 5 minutes I knew i did something wrong, cause I was very unstable. Later, I watched the dvd and noticed my legs were way too close to eachother, causing me to fly forward too much and making me unstable. So I came back 2 days later and told my instructor about it. From then I did it right; perfect arch. I could do many things already, like turning 90 and 180 degrees and stopping, flying up and down, staying in one place, moving forward and backwards... But I still can't exit on my own it was only 10 minutes but felt like it lasted forever, wich is great! I think this is a great thing to do for newbies. You can learn so much from such a little time. And if you think about it: it's way cheaper than repeating jumps, especially jump 1-3. These are worth 15 minutes From 0 to 12.000 in 9 minutes

  14. Pretty much the same for me: I'm working to get the money for my AFF and I'm saving every penny I can. I have had 5 minutes of tunnel time to get used to the feeling. I noticed my leg position wasn't right. I think I'll get another 5 minutes before I start my AFF in May/June. The waiting is KILLING me! From 0 to 12.000 in 9 minutes
  15. When I was doing tunnel time there was an indoorskydive team training. It was amazing how balaced they were. They did turns so fast that my eyes couln't even follow! Team Thunder :) I wonder if they would be that good in the sky. From 0 to 12.000 in 9 minutes

There are also flash video's about most of the malfunctions and the hand signals. This has been very helpfull to me and many others.   19. Title says enough. I wonder how you started skydiving. when did you have that moment where you said: "This is what I am going to do!". Tell us your life story I always liked skydiving, but I've never been into it in any way. Until that one day, when one of my teachers told me about himself as a skydiver. He showed us video's and pictures of himself. Suddely my entire body yelled at me to do it. That's the moment I started looking how, what, where... When! I promised him that if I was qualified to jump with others, I would jump with him. From 0 to 12.000 in 9 minutes
  20. Actually these rolls you have to do are just to get you unstable to see how you react and how fast you regain controll. Don't worry, as long as you do anything that looks like what you're suppose to do it's OK. But it's always more fun to complete a flip or roll though ;) From 0 to 12.000 in 9 minutes
  21. I gotta tell you folks, it's a terrific way to work on your stability and control and it will do wonders for your confidence! Being a newbie and getting this opportunity very early on in my AFF training, I can say that it should be a requirement, not just a possibility. Now, I'm aware that not everyone lives near a good wind-tunnel. But do yourself a great favor if you're just starting out, do it! Make the effort if at all possible, and get a coach who'll laugh with you as well as be serious and teach you. The experience will speak for itself. Word of advice. If you going to any wind tunnels, do some research and ask around for recommendations of specific coaches. And more importantly, have a goal of what you want to improve. Tunnel time is expensive so go in with a clear understand of your goals and let your coach know. A good coach will work out a tentative plan so you can meet your goals and a back up plan if they see you are frustrated. I like the tunnel because it's cheaper per minute than skydiving and you get immediate feedback from your instructor. If you're messing up they can either demonstrate what you're doing wrong, then show you how to fix it, or walk in and physically move your body into the correct position.
