  1. Just curious. How many mals have you had @ 185 jumps? Or is your info out of date? Just curious http://www.freefallmaniacs.net
  2. Did you mean. You'll never have a pilot chute in tow? http://www.freefallmaniacs.net
  3. Also Remeber the best solution is to avoid the pilot chute in tow. That being said Make sure you do a proper gear check. Always Make sure cock you pilot chute and check your color before you get on the plane. Also have it checked again before you exit the aircraft by a fellow skydiver. A misrouted bridle can cause a pilot chute in tow. Please make sure that you are careful when you are packing and properly trained at that. One other thing. Make sure that you really throw your pilot chute out to the right into the relative wind. This will keep it from being caught in your burble which could cause a pilot chute hesitation. http://www.freefallmaniacs.net
  4. I was as a student also taught both the pros and cons of both. I think I have decided on the go to reserve without a cutaway. The most important thing is to be consistent with which emergency procedure you will use and practice this on the ground. In other words it is not enough to be aware of the pros and cons of both procedures. You need to know which course of action that you are going to take and pactice this on the ground. This will ensure that you are able to respond to this malfunction. Rather than freezing up like a deer in headlights. http://www.freefallmaniacs.net
  5. Yep. I just ordered a new rig from Sunrise and they ask for your license # , # of years in the sport wingloading and what not. That's a good thing I think. http://www.freefallmaniacs.net
  6. Yeah a horseshoe can really screw up you day. Ths malfunction can be caused be either the main bad opening prematurely wich would usually indicate a closing loop that was not tight enough. This can be prevented by properly maintaining your gear. Make sure your closing loop isn't loose when you are doing your gear check.A Horseshoe can also be cause be say a pilot chute or any part of the parachute snagging and being attached to you somewhere on your body. A few other things to watch for. Make sure that when you throw you pilot chute into the relative wind you throw the pilot chute away from your body and palm facing the sky. Don't hesitate just throw it. This will reduce the likelyhood of you pilot chute snagging on your body somewhere,.. http://www.freefallmaniacs.net
  7. Here another thought. Myself I usually have very good openings on my Pilot main. However I did once have a really hard opening that really tweaked out my neck and had me on the ground in real pain shortlly afterwards. I don't know that this was a packing issue, but it very well may have been. It could have also been a result of bad body position. However I sure as hell said something to the packer. I told him all about the hard opening and asked him if he had done anything unusual on my pack job. I guess the point is did you have any other strange openings with this partickular packer, and have there been alot of other complaints? 7 cutaways in a day?? sure does sound like alot for one day. Do you have any idea what the malfunctions were on these seven. Please don't tell me broken lines from hard openings. http://www.freefallmaniacs.net
  8. There are a couple of schools of thought when addressing this matter. If you are freeflying with a hackey and you lose your pilot chute prematurely then either you didn't have your pilot chute in the boc very well or you have a spandex boc that doesn't hold your pilot chute very well. That would indicate that your rig has some wear and tear on it. Also you can get a cordura boc that will not wear out as fast as spandex. I think as long as you have good gear and pack well the probability of a premature deployment whilst freeflying is not likely. Also I have heard of instances where the pud comes dislodged from the boc and is whipping around outside the boc. That sounds like it would more likely result in a premature deployment that a hackey. And one final thought. The Hackey is easier to grab that the pud. So my vote goes for the hackey. That's just me. -G http://www.freefallmaniacs.net
  9. Well i'd have to say that I think it is a bad idea. first of all the video probably wouldn't be as good because you wouldn't get all of the angles. But most importantly the tandem master is already taking on the responsibility of 2 lives. His own and also the new jumper. It just doesn't sound like a good Idea when you could easily have a camera flyer shoot video with much less risk involved. Quote http://www.freefallmaniacs.net
  10. Actually if you look you can get a one gig lexar flashdrive for around $80. They come in handy for transfering all sort of file from one computer to another and it is so small it easilyk fits right into you pocket or on you keychain. http://www.freefallmaniacs.net
  11. I hate strong password. Uppercase, lower case, has to be six digit also with numerics and symbols. ie P@ssW0rd. Man that just pisses me off. You can never remeber if one letter is supposed to be upper or lower. Pain in the ass. http://www.freefallmaniacs.net
  12. She's pretty, but did you sleep with her? http://www.freefallmaniacs.net
  13. I was talking to a fellow skydiver friend of mine today, and as funny as it is we were both talking about when we first bought our rigs. We were so proud and so protective of them that we actually slept with our rigs. I mean we put them under the covers with us and slept with them. It's kind of a confort thing. I mean some people have a teddy bear, but I have my rig. Only my rig saves my life time and again. Like to see a teddy bear that can do that. http://www.freefallmaniacs.net
  14. QuoteToo bad freeflying doesnt last for hours. However I do sweat about the same amount when I'm wearing my freefly suit in the summertime. http://www.freefallmaniacs.net
