3 pointsTo take one example, I think the drinking age laws make sense. But if the child is drinking WITH THE PARENT then that should be an exception, because that's a better environment for them to learn about drinking in. And, generally, there is that exception. Kids can't buy alcohol but it is not illegal for an under-18 person to drink alcohol at home. I take a similar approach to gender-affirming care.

3 pointsWell, I still really haven't figured out what I want to be 'when I grow up', but there were certain things that I knew at a fairly young age. I discovered that girls were soft, pretty and smelled nice in about 4th grade. This was never a 'decision', it was just what was (for me). There should be a thorough evaluation process (which is well established) before any medical treatment, but to pretend that: 1 - they don't know or understand how they feel 2 - they're doing it 'for attention' or 'because it's fashionable' Is really stupid. Funny how most of the people who maintain those attitudes are (by your own admission) either older and closed minded or blatant bigots. I'd bet you knew a LOT more trans people than that. They just kept it quiet.

2 pointsI don't care who's a pervert and who isn't. You can think women who wear thigh-high boots or have sex with other women are perverts; that's fine. That's an Overton window thing, and will change with time. What I do care about is that people do not commit crimes, like invade private spaces for women. And in that respect, cis men do FAR more of that than trans women. Heck, Trump bragged about doing it, and Howard Stern (who he was talking to) thought it was great. And later we learned that he did that to underage women as well. If keeping men out of women's rooms is your goal, you are aiming at the wrong target. https://lawandcrime.com/crime/mississippi-man-brutally-attacked-and-raped-woman-in-bathroom-stall-at-mall-police/ https://www.fox5atlanta.com/news/fulton-county-courthouse-bathroom-assault-suspect-arrest https://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local/philly-police-investigate-sex-assault-inside-center-city-macys/2714967/ https://www.businessinsider.com/donald-trump-rape-e-jean-carroll-sexual-abuse-jury-judge-2023-7

2 pointsI definitely don’t believe it’s attention seeking behaviour or fashionable. I have no doubt that those kids have very strong mixed up emotions and it can’t be pleasant. If I get your argument correctly, it would appear that you would likely disagree with age of consent laws, drinking age, tattoos and voting age laws? If not then what is the difference and how do you justify that you could change gender but not be mature enough for the others? I would never deny an adult the right to do what they want, and defend their right to do so. Just because I don’t understand it, doesn’t mean I judge them for their choices.
-
2 pointsWhere exactly do you get that number? Because I rather doubt that only 1 out of every 300 transgender-identifying individuals are "legitimate." I'm not sure you're the be-all and end-all of judges of who's "really" transgender. I have a transgender nibling. Her contention is that gender is an invalid box with which to classify her, because nothing feels right. This has been true for her since she was 13, 17 years ago. It wasn't "fashionable" then, it was difficult and disruptive to her life. Maybe the reason it's fashionable now, just like the "sudden increase in homosexuality" is because it's less likely to get you killed to be brave enough to say what you are. Wendy P.

2 pointsWow. More bigotry. As noted above, when a "6'2" 230 lbs dude" is in the women's room, it's usually a rapist. If a very large, masculine appearing trans woman is in the women's room, it's usually because she has to pee. Typically, however, trans women, especially the masculine looking ones, will either use the individual "family" restroom or just wait until they get home. Because the hysterical bigotry tends to get tiresome.
-
2 pointsNot that I've ever seen. I've known of a few trans and/or gay folk that were 'bad actors' and got called out for their behavior, not for their sexual orientation. People get labeled 'a bigot' for.. Being a bigot. You know, like this:

1 pointBut the funny thing is that I’m no longer using it. Explanation: In past I was reluctant to fall on the back with jets running. I built that automatic launching shelf with aim to drop me down straight on the belly. But it did not happen. Every time I found myself on the back right after the drop. So I decided to accept it. I practiced uncontrolled fall out on the back from Skyvan, until I obtained a good habits to make quick and controlled transition. From there, automatic launching shelf was no longer required. I replaced it with smaller equivalent permanently mounted shelf. I kneel on it, engines facing outwards, start engines, and then flip myself backwards, like scuba divers from the boat. In two seconds I’m back on the belly. It works pretty well, so this issue is closed.

1 pointI think we'll see a similar wave of blubbering 'hard men' leaving court after sentencing as you guys did after Jan 6. But for some more immediate karma, please enjoy this modern art piece entitled "Rioter gets hit in balls with own breezeblock"

1 pointIn 1972 I was an acting assistant manager at a pizza joint. The manager wasted himself on a motorcycle and the assistant manager was off with a broken wrist. It fell to me hire staff. A very huge, not looking very girl, person applied and in our interview was really smart, you know like fun to talk to. I hired her and immediately faced immense push back, like they called her "the hockey player" etc. I lost a few more staff as a consequence. The owner, who had three other stores, called me in and told me I did the right thing. I will never forget that.

1 pointConsidering the far majority of rape is committed by cis gendered males, maybe we shouldn't encourage that? Considering the far majority of violent crime is committed by cis gendered males, maybe we shouldn't encourage that?
-
1 pointYou think identifying as trans has less social pressures and stigma than being homosexual? Seriously?

1 pointPuberty blockers: What to know about the lifesaving medication for gender diverse kids | CNN - An incredibly small number of kids are using puberty blockers. A fraction of the number of people that are, for example, killed and injured in gun violence every year. Not sure how outraged I am expected to be about kids, their doctors, their parents, and the decisions that are made within the confines of these groups, especially when it is none of my fucking business. Also have no idea how ANY of those decisions affect me, my family, my life, your life, anyone's life, any family.... and so on.... especially when it is no one's fucking business, except those involved.
-
1 pointYep. Or put another way - If you think giving rights to other people will erode yours, it's not equal rights that you want - it's privilege.

1 pointPutin was forced to promise that conscripts won't be sent to combat in Ukraine in 2022, otherwise he risked a societal backlash from the richer/more influential Moscow/St. Petersburg regions. Basically the unwritten contract is: as long as the war doesn't affect their lives too much, russian society will support Putin's war. Word is that most of those surrendering are conscripts, they have absolutely no motivation to fight or die for Putin's war. There are no "first line" troops any more. Almost all "elite" Russian units are heavily degraded according to analysts, in particular the ISW, because they were used for meatgrinder assaults in Ukraine.

1 pointBecause that's what a decent human being does? One of the best ways to judge someone's character is by how they treat people who have no ability to retaliate. Wait staff. Checkout clerks. That sort. Decent people treat them... Decently. 'Woke' is when you speak up against those who treat the vulnerable like shit.
-
1 pointWoke ideology is the attempt to understand the injustices in society against minorities and marginalized groups - and address them. Simple. Then you are seeing FOX News. Get closer and talk to the people themselves - gay people, trans people, black people.

1 pointHave you ever been a woman in a workplace where the management is all male, and handsy? Have you ever heard "the law says I have to interview them, but it sure don't say I have to hire them." Have you ever heard "you can come in, gorgeous, but your husband can't." Have you ever heard, yet again, "you must be on the rag." Or maybe "you can't be so blunt," when you're not as blunt as some of the men in the group. Being on the delivering side of all those is privilege, because no one else in management (or the power structure) can be told any of those things, because of who they are. Wendy P.
