3 pointsIt must be quite the burden for you, being wise beyond the comprehension of everybody else, and yet so deeply cynical. At least you are eloquent! BTW there is no compelling evidence to support the idea that Covid-19 is a bioengineered weapon. On the other hand there is very strong evidence that it is a naturally occurring virus, spilled over from a zoonotic reservoir (probably bats), likely through a secondary zoonotic host, and into humans. There are many related coronaviruses that cause occasional spillover infections in people, and it is only a matter of time before it occurs again in circumstances that support higher transmission to people, selection for adaptive mutations, and yet another pandemic. A spillover infection in a small farming community almost always burns itself out, but the same virus brought to a "wet market" in a densely populated city presents a vastly greater risk. A problem with the "bioengineered" mythology is that it discounts the role of spillover of natural viruses, encourages politicians to dismiss that threat, and discourages efforts to find and track these spillover events and prepare for future pandemics. Of course, it is politically expedient, in that it allows politicians of a certain inclination to blame China (or any other entity it is convenient to direct the base's hate towards) while slashing funding for efforts to deal with present and future pandemics.

1 pointYup. Prigozhin has reportedly had his access to Russian prisons (and recruiting prisoners) cut off. He's bitching that his thugs are not getting enough ammunition, which they had been getting before. People who watch more closely and are more knowledgeable than I are implying that his 'star' is no longer rising. It's not terribly surprising. Anyone who starts to accumulate any sort of power is viewed by Putin as a threat.

1 pointWell, right now if Russia decided to attack Belarus, they couldn't. Over 90% of their army is in Ukraine. Anything they would want to pull out of Ukraine to attack Belarus is desperately needed to hold back Ukrainian counter-attacks. And even if the Russians could spare any forces from Ukraine to attack Belarus, the Belarussian army may have something to say about that. The whole world has come to the realization of how incompetent and impotent Russia is.

1 pointIn the US, unless a TSO approval states otherwise, a shelf life/service life limitation does not apply to formerly military equipment in civilian use. See AC 105-2E para 13.b.(2).

1 pointMany years ago, Billy was the AFF instructor for my wife, while we were on our honey moon. I am stunned at reading this.

1 pointNot really. It was a huge victory. The number of times the party of the sitting president didn't have large losses in the midterms is very small. The 'mistake' would be thinking that this victory means there will automatically be future victories.

1 pointHi Robert, So, you are saying that there are some sane members of the GOP? Just wondering, Jerry Baumchen PS) I think that ranked voting is the way to go. The hell with political parties.
