What a hilarious joke. Lisa is kind, wonderful, and honest person. She's never sent me dozens of crazy and hateful emails in the middle of the night. She doesn't refer to herself in the third person. She doesn't pretend she's running a company. She doesn't write crazy stories about people and post them on her blog. She never threatened to sue me. She never emailed me asking to come on the show, but she would write all the questions and answers in advance. She doesn't pretend she knows everything about book publishing. She doesn't annoy people with details of her personal life or camping gear purchases on a Skydiving forum thread labeled DB Cooper. She hasn't been banned from any websites. She never interfered with some one else's events. She doesn't pretend to have an audience. She's not a convicted felon. I'm not interested in calling anyone out. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Have a nice weekend Bob.

I'd like to know what positive outcome you see as possible even if either party ran Winsor's ideal candidate to victory. It's not Liberals vs. Conservatives anymore; it's the Judiciary vs. the Citizenry. That specifically includes the DOJ. The new Supreme Court has only started raking us over the coals and our new AG, apparently, either can't read a calendar or is more concerned about his legacy than the erosion of our democracy. And, like Ginsburg, Breyer seems intent on hanging around to guarantee another hard right religious nutcase on the Supreme Court. The sad, simple fact is that the left doesn't know how to wield power to win elections or get specific results. We're already toast.

My big fear about the 2024 election is Biden vs Trump. Biden was a stopgap in 2020; if neither the Dems nor the Reps can go beyond, it’ll be a sad sign. Wendy P.

It was said that George H. W. Bush had Dan Quayle as a life insurance policy, and it seems that the incumbent has his: https://www.wsj.com/articles/kamala-harris-needs-to-get-serious-biden-administration-competency-approval-rating-polling-11639093358 It concerns me that the only people who could do a particularly good job of the presidency have better things to do, and we are stuck with second-raters from which to choose. The campaign slogan of "We Suck Less" could be used by either party - but it would be patently untrue in either case. The ideal candidate would be a combination of an Academic with a deep knowledge of History, Law, Psychology, Geography, Economics, Mathematics, and the hard sciences, a Gambler who knows when to hold them, when to fold them and leaves them guessing whether whether its a bluff or a Royal Flush, an Illusionist who can convey whatever perception is appropriate, and an Entertainer who makes you want to tune in, even if you're from the other party. Ronald Reagan knew how to work a crowd, but knew less than nothing about the underlying Academics, much to our detriment. Bill Clinton was a slut, who would do ANYTHING for 'true love.' George W. Bush was born on third base and thought he hit a triple. And so forth. Maybe, since we are a very flawed people, we deserve very flawed leadership. We sure as hell have it. BSBD, Winsor

Approximately 1gb zipped, including all attachments. I would be happy to share copies with people so that there are backups. In case my basejumper.net mirror ever goes in.

Each variant has been new. But, the point is - the things Biden said about Trump and how it was portrayed is not the same as it is now when it's Biden: "We are in the midst of a crisis with the coronavirus. We need to lead the way with science — not Donald Trump’s record of hysteria, xenophobia, and fear-mongering. He is the worst possible person to lead our country through a global health emergency." Biden Feb 1, 2020 (Twitter) "Trump further diminished the U.S. in the eyes of the world by expanding his travel ban. This new “African Ban,” is designed to make it harder for black and brown people to immigrate to the United States. It’s a disgrace, and we cannot let him succeed." Biden Feb 1, 2020 (Twitter) "A wall will not stop the coronavirus. Banning all travel from Europe — or any other part of the world — will not stop it. This disease could impact every nation and any person on the planet — and we need a plan to combat it." Biden March 12, 2020 (Twitter) For me; it's kinda like Cuomo calling Trump a misogynist. Which one gets more news and which one gets a pass by the liberal media.

My Latin sucks. I'm just showing that I'm not the only one with that misimpression (Copi is, too). One big problem I have with CRT is that, while we all agree that racism (at least to the extent of discrimination) is bad, we seem to be working with different definitions and are thus working with something equivalent to equivocation. One way or another, we're saying the same words and meaning different things. There are certainly instances where people are treated better or worse because of the group of which they are members. The cultural differences may be religious, or national origin with religious overtones (think Ireland), or tribal or ethnic or whatever. If someone at, say Princeton, bitches because they are treated badly because of their race, it is often more of a matter of their social stature. "You're a COMMONER, and you're all the same! There's not a dime's worth of difference between a ghetto denizen and a hillbilly!" Unless you're Old Money, preferably in the Social Register, you don't count. Nothing personal. BSBD, Winsor

Hi Winsor, Re: Unfortunately, I call bullshit on the first sentence of the tenets of "Principles of the CRT Practice" to wit: "Recognition that race is not biologically real but is socially constructed..." IMO 'race' is a man-made thing, i.e. 'socially constructed.' Made to differentiate us. The reasoning, I argue, is very apparent. In nature, 'race' does not exist. All humans vary in color; from Ms. Gillibrand to Mr. James. I vary in color when compared to my brother. IMO this is the way it is in nature. 'Race' wants to categorize us, it wants to separate us; all for the so-called 'benefit' of some. Jerry Baumchen
