1 pointMy bridle wrapped around my foot a month ago following a regular jump and the Friday Freakout video was posted yesterday. When I felt the tug on my foot, I put both hands on my handles and decided not to chop my main and went straight to reserve. The rational behind this decision was that even if I chop, my main will still be attached to me. I figured my d-bag would be either still in the container or close to it. My risers were still in the container well tucked around the reserve and I didn't want another longer potential snag point. Since I was wrapped, I figured that if it were to entangled, I would want as much fabric over my head as possible. Obviously what I did for my situation was the correct thing to do (besides wrapping myself ) and I walked away without injury beside muscles and ligaments pain. The official EP for this situation is to cut the main, clear the risers then pull reserve I don't agree with this as I think you will trail more stuff behind that can prevent a clean reserve deployment I'm interested to know what you would do in the same situation and your explanation to chop or not. Don't watch the video if you're sensitive

1 pointFrom the CDC's MMWR comes a story out of Marin, CA. In one school district in Marin, all teachers were vaccinated except for two. One of them caught COVID. The school's policy was for teachers to wear masks at all times, but this teacher took it off occasionally to read to the class. Of the 24 students in his classroom, 12 of them ended up infected - most of them the closest students to him while he was reading. In other classrooms, several infections were seen. They were tested, and the samples sequenced to ensure that they were all the same strain (they were) thus suggesting that they all came from the same index patient (the unvaccinated teacher.) A total of 27 people were infected. All the children were unvaccinated because they were too young to be vaccinated. Of the adults who became infected, three were vaccinated. This tells us a few things: 1) The Delta variant is extremely infectious. In a school setting with sloppy (but implemented) COVID protocols, one infection led to 26 other infections. 2) Vaccination is effective but does not work 100%. Most of the staff (and parents) avoided infection, and almost all of them were vaccinated. But three staff members/parents who were vaccinated contracted the infection. 3) NPI's are critical, and it's not OK to be sloppy or causal about them. Masking prevents infected people (whether they know they are infected or not) from spreading the disease. https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/70/wr/mm7035e2.htm?s_cid=mm7035e2_w

1 pointNowhere in the article you linked does it say that Biden issued the order. You just made that up.
-
1 pointI definitely don't and I'd rather not make shit up. What I do know is that this clusterfuck is on Trump and his deal to release the Taliban and their leaders. It also seems reasonable to add more blame for his refusal to give Biden's transition team access after he lost the election. Further, notice to get the hell out of Afghanistan started back in March. You guys are acting like he's Hitler always overruling his General Staff. I simply don't see that. It's a damn shit show, for sure, and the sooner we are away the better, seems to me.

1 pointOlof appears to be “stuck on Brent”. I’ll try to get us back on topic

1 pointWhere did I do that? Pulling out in the winter would have slowed this train wreck and allowed for a more orderly egress. Taliban would still take over but more slowly resulting in less panic.
-
1 pointI do not believe that Biden is this incompetent by accident. I believe this was planned as part of the global reset. America must be weakened in the world affairs and the door to Afghanistan was opened for China to move in and begin mining operations.
-
1 pointIt’s not a matter of getting out or not, it is the complete ineptitude of the execution. Biden ignored the advice of his intel, military and State Department advisers and set an arbitrary date for withdrawal (twice) instead of a conditions based timeline. Now the Taliban are holding him to the standard he set. Results? 12 Marines are dead dozens injured, 1000+ Americans are still stuck in country and tens of thousands of our allies have been abandoned to the tender mercies of the Taliban and ISIS-K.

1 pointIf the pullout had occurred in the dead of winter, the Taliban would not have been able to move on the capital as quickly as they did. It would have taken months not hours. winter in Afghanistan https://www.inquirer.com/philly/news/nation_world/20150301_Helicopters_aid_snowbound_Afghans.html

1 pointI am just angered, saddened and frustrated. I receive comms from several covert organizations. One that I received yesterday stated that the Taliban are terrorizing the rural villages. The men are being shot and the women and children are given to the troops as prizes. The females are being raped. After twenty years of relative peace, evil has triumphed overnight.

1 pointI would encourage my students to come to the dropzone early and practice in lieu of having one at home. Personally, I wanted to see them doing it right. Part of my job was to ensure the muscle memory was properly developed.

1 pointI fractured my spine (L2 and L3) on a bad landing from a roller coming off a building at about 20 feet on jump 31, after almost a year layoff. I was off for ANOTHER year almost before I felt comfortable coming back. I'll tell ya, that first jump back was TERRIFYING. Even the drive to the DZ, my palms were sweating. But the DZO was great at helping me swallow the fear and welcome me back. Felt SOOOOOO sweet. Come back when YOU'RE ready BECAUSE YOU WANT TO. Not because you think you should or someone told you you should or could. Good luck!!
